Chapter 18 - Moving.

I will send you an instruction booklet as well as a link to the app and you can register using your unique apartment id of this unit. If there's anything else that you need, you can always contact us. As the owner of this duplex, the property inspection team would naturally be more responsible towards you, miss Bai. We can also help you move your things from your previous unit and help you clean the apartment thoroughly so that you can move in with peace of mind."

The building manager said a lot and Bai Li listened quietly. At the end, she nodded and said,

"I understand. Then, please help me move in right away after an hour. I don't want to delay any longer. I will pack some of my valuables and except for those, everything else can be moved in by your people. Is that okay?"

The building manager immediately smiled and said,

"Of course, of course. It's completely fine. In the meantime, I will also have a few cleaners clean the place."

After saying this, he quickly took out his phone but suddenly, he seemed to remember something and quickly took out a card similar to the elevator access card he used before and handed it to Bai Li and said with a smile,

"Oh right, Miss Bai. I almost forgot. Here is your elevator access card."

Bai Li took it and examined it slightly. It was quite an ordinary looking metal card. She took it and nodded slightly before saying,

:"Thank you for your hard work. I should go down and pack my valuables. It would take quite some time."

The building manager immediately nodded and said,

"Haha, no problem no problem. Please go ahead. I will give my people a call and they should reach your unit within an hour with the necessary tools."

Bai Li nodded and went down the hallway with the card in her hand. As she walked down the hallway, she passed by the door of the condo unit and couldn't help but unconsciously take a quick glance there. The word 'Yan Residence' seemed to particularly catch her attention for some reason.

Bai Li didn't think much and continued walking ahead.

..

..

After about forty five minutes, Bai Li finished packing the last few things into a travel bag and zipped it shut.

She knew right away it must be the moving team that the building manager had sent. She adjusted her collar, took a quiet breath, and opened the door.

Outside stood a group of men and women wearing work uniforms, each carrying boxes, ropes, and tool belts. They looked energetic but respectful. The one at the front, a woman with a ponytail and bright eyes, stepped forward and spoke with a cheerful tone.

"Hello Miss Bai Li, I'm Xiao Xi, team leader. Manager Xong called us earlier and said you needed help with the move."

Bai Li gave a small nod and stepped aside to let them in. Her expression didn't change much, but her tone stayed polite.

"Yes, please come in. I've already packed my essentials. The rest is furniture, clothes, and a few other things. You can go ahead and start."

"Got it," Xiao Xi said with a friendly smile. She turned back to her group and clapped her hands once. "Alright, everyone, you heard her. Let's get this done in an hour!"

The others echoed, "Yes, leader!" and quickly spread through the apartment, moving with practiced coordination. Some started lifting boxes while others wrapped fragile items in soft sheets.

Bai Li stepped aside near the window, her arms crossed lightly, watching them work. For a moment, her calm eyes softened. The rhythm of their movements, the quiet coordination, the shared glances, the short commands between them, brought back old memories.

Looking at this group of men and women, she couldn't help but be reminded of her previous life. In her previous life, when she joined the army, she quickly rose through the ranks thanks to her amazing achievement and the first team that she had were also her closest friends that she had in that world. Unfortunately, quite a few of them died in various missions with only three others left from that team. They also left the army later to settle down. Only she stayed and rose through ranks to later become a renowned general. 'Sigh', she couldn't help but sigh as she remembered those memories and even though she wasn't attached to her previous life in any way but some memories do stay in your heart even if you have to attachment to them. But she quickly recovered from her nostalgia as she thought in her heart that it was time that she stopped reminiscing about her previous life which is now nonexistent. This is her new life and she wants to live this life to its fullest.

The sound of tape being ripped pulled her attention back. Xiao Xi's team worked fast. Cardboard boxes began piling near the door, neatly labeled with black marker. A man lifted a dismantled chair while another rolled a carpet. Someone unplugged the monitor and wrapped it in cloth with careful precision.

After another hour, the apartment looked almost empty. The sky outside the window had already turned a pale orange, signaling that evening was close. It was almost six.

Large and small boxes covered the floor. A few pieces of furniture stood ready to be carried out, mostly things Bai Li had bought herself. The bed, the small coffee table, the gaming chair and matching desk, the monitors and other computer parts, all neatly packed.

The pre-furnished items from the landlord stayed behind. Bai Li didn't care for them; they had no meaning to her.

Xiao Xi wiped her hands on her uniform and walked up to Bai Li with a small notepad. "Miss Bai, we've packed everything," she said with a confident smile. "Please check if we missed anything."

Bai Li glanced around once, her eyes sharp but calm. "No, everything's been taken," she said. "The rest belongs to the apartment. Just make sure to be careful with the computer parts and the monitors. They're fragile."

Xiao Xi nodded firmly. "Of course. We'll make sure not even a scratch appears on them."
