UA Entrance Exam – The Practical Test
At the massive exam site, dozens of hopeful students gathered nervously.
"Welcome to U.A., kids!" boomed Present Mic, his voice echoing across the grounds. "Some of you might already know me, but let me introduce myself properly! I'm Present Mic, a teacher here at U.A. High — and a pro hero!"
He pointed to a large holographic board showing different robot types.
"We've got a point system for this test! Each Villain Bot is worth points based on difficulty!"
1 Point: Easy Bots
2 Points: Medium Bots
3 Points: Hard Bots
0 Points: Arena Traps
"Those last ones — the Arena Traps — are giant bots meant to test your instincts. They're not worth any points, so don't waste your time fighting them!"
He threw his hands up dramatically. "Okay! Three… two… one… GO BECOME HEROES!"
The gates opened — and chaos exploded. Students sprinted forward, attacking bots left and right.
---
'What are they… kids?' Izuku thought, blinking as explosions filled the air.
'Wait, they are kids… heh, guess I'm one too.'
He quickly started analyzing the field.
'The most efficient way to earn points fast is targeting the two-pointers. Everyone's probably focused on the easy ones, so if I—'
"Katsuki Bakugo — thirty points already!" Present Mic announced. "He's destroyed ten three-pointers!"
Izuku sighed. "Or… maybe just go for the three-pointers, huh…"
"Not gonna let Kacchan beat me!" he said, clenching his fists.
Moments later, Present Mic's voice boomed again:
"Oh! The late bloomer just scored twenty-three points — ten two-pointers and one three-pointer!"
"Crap, Midoriya and that thug are monsters," Kaminari muttered.
"You know those two?" Iida asked, adjusting his glasses.
"Ah, Midoriya? Yeah, we met during the written exam. The other guy… no clue, but he's strong as hell."
"Indeed," Iida said, watching the scoreboard climb. "Both of them are performing remarkably."
---
'Damn… Kacchan's still ahead. The gap's widening…' Izuku thought, panting.
'But One For All is so damn cool. Even at ten percent, I feel like I'm flying… Can't wait till I unlock Float—heh.'
Then his eyes narrowed.
'It's about time the zero-pointer shows up. I'll save Uraraka — make a real hero's debut, not like canon me breaking my arm like an idiot. How cringe was that?'
The ground shook — a massive zero-pointer broke through the buildings, sending debris flying. A girl screamed as she got trapped beneath rubble.
Izuku's heart pounded. "It's about damn time… my debut in My Hero Academia!"
"One For All: Full Cowling, Ten Percent!" he shouted, dashing forward and smashing his fist into the robot's head. The colossal machine stumbled back, gears grinding.
---
Control Room
"What's he doing?" Eraser Head frowned. "Didn't you tell them that one's worth no points?"
"I did!" Present Mic yelled. "But—hold up—zoom in!"
The screen focused on Izuku lifting the trapped girl.
"There's a girl there… he's saving her," Present Mic said softly.
Eraser Head smirked. "A kid with a hero's heart, huh."
"His score's ninety-eight — he was close to the top, but he's falling behind."
---
Back in the arena
Izuku winced as the zero-pointer staggered again. "Damn, this thing's tough…"
He extended a hand. "You okay?"
"I'm fine, but—my leg's stuck…" the girl said weakly.
'Her leg's bruised. That has to be Uraraka… right? Or maybe someone new? The scenes keep changing…just like that other girl — the one I saved from the sludge villain. I wonder where she is now…"' he thought.
The robot suddenly swung a massive arm toward them.
"Crap — I forgot their control systems are unstable!" Izuku scooped her up bridal-style and leapt back just in time.
'Wait—how'd I know that attack was coming? Danger Sense? Did it just activate?'
He gently set her down. "Sorry—hang on here!"
---
Control Room
"Oi! Shut that thing down!" Eraser Head barked.
"I'm trying!" Present Mic said, slamming buttons. "It's not responding!"
"Shit… we're so screwed," Present Mic muttered.
"What did you do?" Eraser Head asked, narrowing his eyes.
At the arena
A second zero-pointer burst through the wall.
"Another one?!" Izuku yelled. "Really?! What kind of butterfly effect is this?!"
He cracked his neck. "Whatever… Kacchan can take that one."
Then he heard a distant cry — "HELP! SOMEBODY HELP ME!"
'Another girl? Is that Uraraka? Someone else? Damn it… there's no one nearby…'
He grit his teeth. "Screw my debut… I can't let someone die because I wanted a cool entrance."
"Sorry, big guy," he muttered, charging forward.
"Full Cowl: Ten Percent Smash!"
He kicked the zero-pointer's head, sending it skidding back several meters — but it still moved.
'One For All… 100%!'
"Detroit Smash!!!"
The explosion of power blew the robot apart — but his arm cracked and blood sprayed.
"Shit—hurts like hell!" Izuku gasped, clutching his arm.
The remaining zero-pointer turned toward the other girl.
'No… I can't… charge One For All again…'
Before he could move, flames engulfed the machine — incinerating it completely.
A booming voice followed:
"Prominence Burn!"
Izuku blinked through the smoke. 'Endeavor… the girl's safe…'
His vision blurred as his body gave out — falling from the collapsing structure.
"Great job, kid," Endeavor said, catching him mid-fall.
