POV Charlie
*Sigh*
I sighed as I leaned on the railing of the second floor overlooking the lobby. Vaggie and I got into an argument earlier over how the trust exercises should be done, and I didn't agree with her bringing the others over to the doomsday district.
Not to mention, Julius hasn't responded to any of my calls or text over the past month. From what I have seen on the news, he has been on a tear. Fighting and conquering multiple Overlords. I can't help but feel it's my fault that he's avoiding me.
I heard footsteps and looked to see Vaggie walking over to me. She stopped next to me and spoke.
"Sorry, I got so crazy today."
"No, no, I'm sorry. I'm sorry I put pressure on you. We are supposed to work as a team! I guess I just thought all of this would be easier. But we'll figure it out... together. Right? I mean, look at what your exercise did for them!"
I waved my arm towards the others who were in the lobby. They were laughing and talking about what they did in the doomsday district.
"I'm also sorry about being a bit distant lately. Its just-."
"Charlie," Vaggie interrupted, "Its alright sweetie. You are probably just worried about Julius, right? I am too, even though all that bastard did was flirt with you."
I couldn't help but chuckle. "You know he flirted with you too, right?"
"Yeah right." Vaggie scoffed.
"Trust me, he was. Every time he bickered and teased you was him flirting." I smiled as I hugged Vaggie.
"Yeah, and I hate it."
"Then why do you keep playing along with it? The way you two argue is very different from you and Alastor." I teased.
"Because Julius is actually nice when he isn't flirting with every girl he sees."
"Hehe, that is-."
"BREAKING NEWS!!!"
Suddenly, the news popped on over what Angel and the others were watching.
"Uh, Charlie? You may want to come down here and see this!" Angel yelled out.
Vaggie and I rushed down to see what Angel was talking about. On the TV was a headline saying two Overlords were currently duking it out in downtown Pentagram City. Causing mass destruction and casualties to pile up.
The footage showed two Overlords zooming around the highways, destroying everything in their path.
And the two Overlords looked familiar. Then it became clear who they were!
"Alastor!? Julius!?" I couldn't help but be shocked at what I was seeing!
POV 3rd Person
Ten minutes before breaking news.
Alastor was patiently waiting on the sidewalk outside Carmillas office building that connected to her compound. He was humming himself while he drummed his staff.
He thought about the women with the weird yellow eyes that approached him as he waited on the little egg boy named Frank to return with possible information about how the angel was killed.
"How disappointing." Makima said to Alastor.
A radio scratch noise rang out at Makima's statement. "Excuse me?" Alastor asked.
"I came here to make a deal with you, but sadly you are already someone else's slave. It's truly disappointing." Makima simply stated. Her expressionless face stayed the same.
Alastor was so enraged he couldn't help but laugh. No one other than Rosie should know about the deal he made when he was alive! Yet this newbie Overlord somehow found out about it.
Power surged through Alastor as black tendrils appeared from his back, and dozens of minions appeared around him.
"It seems my absence has made others forget their place!"
Makima stood their unmoving. Hands firmly behind her back as the suit jacket that hung around her shoulders flapped wildly from the power Alastor was displaying.
She merely sighed at the sight of Alastor's aura. "Such a fine pet, wasted on such a useless venture. While you can't be mine, you can still be useful." Makima said with a smile.
Her smile caused Alastor to shiver slightly as he unconsciously took a step back.
"What do you mean, still be useful to you? You think Ill-."
"You have been eying to fight what is mine, right? You have been waiting for Julius to grow stronger so you can have a worthy challenger to tear apart for your little radio broadcast, correct?"
Alastor grimaced on the inside and thought to himself, "How could she possibly know that!?"
"After I am done talking to you, I will go tell Julius that you asked me to send him a message. He will meet you out here and you will fight with him. That is how you can be of use to me." Makima's yellow eyes bore into Alastor.
Alastor couldn't help but shrink back further at the sight of Makima's eyes. They were so unnerving and screamed danger.
"What makes you think I will follow along with your little charade?"
"Simple," Makima said, as she turned around and walked away. "Julius knows about your deal with Rosie. And he doesn't take kindly to those who could potentially hurt those he cares about."
She disappeared a moment later. Leaving Alastor further enraged as he knew he was being used for someone else's benefit.
POV 3rd Person
Ten minutes have passed since Alastor and Julius started fighting. They were mostly testing each other's defenses. Alastor stuck to sending tendrils out to strike Julius while Julius simply flew around trying to get in close to strike Alastor.
Alastor was currently on top of a skyscraper, humming to himself as he watched Julius float in the air. Julius's face didn't display much emotion.
"You done playing games, Alastor? I don't see the point of us fighting any longer." Julius asked.
"Awe, what's wrong? You can't be giving up already, we just started!" Alastor responded; sarcasm clear in his voice.
"I have more important things to do than entertain your bullshit, Alastor. Despite what Vaggie says about you, you're quite chill to talk to. So, I would prefer to stop and not have bad blood between us."
"Awe, that's too bad." Alastor said, fiddling with the microphone on his staff. "Ever since I heard about how untouchable you are, I just couldn't help but get excited! I can just imagine your screams of pain and anguish as you find out you truly aren't untouchable! Hahahaha!!!" Alastor laughed manically.
Julius face never changed. He just floated there, watching Alastor laugh out loudly to himself.
"You're kind of sick, aren't you?"
"I would argue I'm more... openminded." Alastor responded to Julius's question with a sadistic smile.
"If you don't want to fight back, I understand." Alastor said, twirling his staff. "Maybe, I'll go visit Carmilla-."
Alastor immediately jumped to a different rooftop right before the one he was on disappeared in a flash of purple light.
For the first time this fight, Julius's face finally changed. Thick, purplish black lines ran down his face from his forehead as his power surged. His smile grew wide and sinister. Red saliva dripping from his mouth.
Julius's body bulked up a bit as his hair began to change shape and color, becoming golden and spikey. His purple aura now showing signs of gold mixed in.
"First, that little BITCH, dares to disrespect my girl! Then, you have the AUDACITY to threaten harm to her!? Oh, I'm going to make sure your bitch ass suffers as much as possible!"
Julius's eyes went crazed as he shot towards Alastor. Alastor jumped backwards to another rooftop. He pointed his staff at Julius, and dozens of massive tendrils shot from the rooftop Alastor was previously on.
"Blue." Julius spoke, and a massive blue orb appeared; the orb consumed the tendrils as it shot towards Alastor.
Alastor disappeared into the shadows and reappeared on the street, a gigantic black tendril appeared and wrapped around the building behind him. He swung his staff in the direction of Julius and the tendril tore the building out of the ground and threw it towards Julius.
Julius turned his head toward the building flying towards him. He pointed two fingers at the building as a red glow brightened from his fingertips.
"Red."
Julius spoke as a red orb, the size of the previous blue one, shot towards the building. Before the building contacted the red orb, it was shot back towards Alastor, causing him to disappear back into the shadows and appear and entire city block away.
Before Alastor could think of his next attack, Julius appeared before him, punching Alastor in the face and sending him flying through dozens of buildings before flying over a section of highways in downtown Pentagram City.
Julius appeared above Alastor and kicked him into the highways, destroying all the highways beneath them.
Julius started to bring his middle finger and thumb together before a massive gate, spanning the entire downtown district area, opened up and hundreds of massive tendrils shot down from it.
Julius was forced to shift his next attack to the mass of tendrils coming his way, saying "Hollow Purple" before snapping his fingers, erasing all the tendrils in his immediate path.
While he was clear from the attack, the rest of the tendrils rained down around him, destroying everything in their path.
Alastor, while on the ground, growled out in mild frustration.
"How annoying. He's too fast to land attacks on. Any attacks that do get to him simply stop in their tracks. He can always keep his distance from me since most of his attacks seem to be long range types."
Alastor took a couple of seconds to catch his breath. He wasn't hit at all, but constantly dodging and throwing out attacks that never land seemed to drain him mentally.
"Think, think." Alastor thought to himself, "Julius once said his power is akin to that of spatial manipulation, right? There must be some kind of limitation to it."
Alastor looked around at the destruction his tendrils were causing. He knew that in a couple of seconds his hiding spot would be exposed, and Julius would be quickly back on his tail.
"Should I retreat into my shadow-." Alastor stopped as a sudden thought entered his mind.
He couldn't help but silently chuckle to himself.
"Yes, maybe that could work."
