Chapter 14 - Chapter Fourteen: Acquiring the Mining Rights

On the third day on Vadiel, nearly twenty ships were practicing in the sky, while Great Master Qui-Gon was communicating remotely with Commander Kote, guiding him in his swordsmanship. Obi-Wan stood by, smiling helplessly.

This was because that afternoon, after their argument,

Obi-Wan returned to the republic consular-class cruiser with the blood sample and initiated communication with the Council.

"What's wrong, Obi-Wan? Is the Mandalore mission not going well?" This time, Great Master Mace Windu answered the holographic communication.

"No, the mission is still going relatively smoothly, but Great Master Qui-Gon discovered a Force-sensitive here. However, he is too old and has too many worldly entanglements. Furthermore, he even possesses some power that deviates from the Light Side. But Great Master believes he might be the legendary child of the force and has even begun training him," Obi-Wan explained Kote's situation to Great Master Windu.

"Hmm, I will discuss this with the other Great Masters of the Jedi Council. Before that, Great Master Qui-Gon can train him in Light Side of The Force. Perhaps after the mission is complete, you can bring him to Coruscant," Windu considered letting Qui-Gon train Kote first, but he still needed to discuss it with Great Master Yoda and other members of the Jedi Council.

"Alright, I will keep an eye on that Youngster." Obi-Wan ended the communication and began analyzing the mitochondrion content in the blood. Obi-Wan intently stared at the data on the computer, but the result he obtained was astonishing.

"Over twenty thousand! The Force be with us!" Obi-Wan looked at the data and quickly sent a communication to Qui-Gon. "Great Master! Kote's mitochondrion content actually exceeds Great Master Yoda's!"

After receiving Obi-Wan's communication, Qui-Gon was also quite surprised. "Perhaps he truly is the child of the force, so we must train him and let him become a Jedi Knight!"

And so, it became the scene from the very beginning, with Qui-Gon teaching on one side, Obi-Wan watching from behind with a helpless smile, and Satine, free from war and politics, also observing the group.

"This is it. This is Form I, Shii-Cho. All apprentices must learn this before they can proceed to other sword forms. However, you should incorporate your Mandalorian Martial Skill into it. This will help you learn the later sword forms, but you must learn them slowly to understand them," Qui-Gon demonstrated and explained.

"Understood, Great Master. I will practice Form I." Kote memorized the basic movements and key points of Form I, training with his beskar sword since he didn't have his own lightsaber yet.

On the fourth day on Vadiel, other trusted companions and younger children arrived on Vadiel. The adjutant built three supply stations on the plains of Vadiel for everyone to live in, and they began to be self-sufficient on Vadiel.

By the eighth day, everyone had practiced enough, but four wraith fighters still needed to remain to protect everyone. Who knew if Death Watch would come to Vadiel?

"Ray, you stay here and protect our Family members." Kote told Ray to stay and protect the Family members.

"Oh, alright..." Ray was still a child at heart, so he wasn't happy about staying behind.

"Next time you'll rotate with them." Kote couldn't bear it and decided to let them rotate.

"Oh, yeah!"

Just like that, five viking fighters, eight wraith fighters, and one kom'rk-class fighter took off from Vadiel again, heading for Mandalore.

At this time, on Concord Dawn, Jango Fett was also making arrangements for what was to come. "Kal, you'll be in charge of the upcoming attack on Death Watch. I will take people to Sundari for negotiations."

"Alright, Jango, I'll lead the men to continue the attack," Kal Skirata replied, pulling out his twin blasters.

Jango led six true Mandalorians aboard Slave I to Sundari, while Kote returned to Sundari with the new squadron of ships. Satine and Master Qui-Gon Jinn, who had received the news, were already waiting at the spaceport.

"He truly is a Genius, bringing back a squadron of ships to the Mandalorians that can change the current situation." Obi-Wan looked up at Kote and his ships entering the atmosphere.

"I told you so," Qui-Gon shrugged, finding it extremely easy for the child of the force to accomplish this.

"Alright, Great Master, I admit his talent." Obi-Wan agreed with his Master's opinion on the child of the force.

"He might be the next one to end the Mandalorian Civil War and become the new Mand'alor." Satine now completely believed her Younger Male Cousin would become the new unifier of Mandalore.

As they chatted, Kote and his squadron finally landed at Sundari's spaceport. "Wow, you always wait for me here, you really go to a lot of trouble. How are the battles recently?" Kote disembarked from the kom'rk-class fighter.

"Since the last raid, their actions have been much smaller. Basically, there have only been bomb attacks and bounty hunter raids, but Great Master Qui-Gon and Obi-Wan have dealt with them all."

"A very good trend. Death Watch won't be able to cause trouble in Sundari for much longer. Now, let's go to the Council and discuss how much these equipments are worth in credits or corresponding resources." Kote, Satine, the old king, and Qui-Gon took a speeder to the center of Sundari.

"Prime Minister Almec won't let you get too much easily. He's a rigid pacifist."

"Understood, Cousin. I will propose a condition he can accept." Kote had understood Almec before, so giving up arms was absolutely acceptable to him, or Kote would lead his subordinates away from Sundari after the war ended. These all aligned with Prime Minister Almec's political will and ideals.

It wasn't long before they arrived at the Council building. Prime Minister Almec and his Council members were waiting there for Satine and Kote. "Long time no see, Commander Kote. The new weapons you brought this time have really changed our current situation. Let's go inside to talk first." Prime Minister Almec invited everyone into the Council chamber for discussion.

"Please, Prime Minister Almec. You have also contributed a lot to New Mandalore. Thanks to you and Duchess's comprehensive handling of political affairs, I can fight Death Watch without worries," Kote also said words against his conscience.

This boy doesn't act like an eleven-year-old at all. He's like someone who hasn't completely forgotten his past life, truly a cunning old fox.

The group sat in the Council chamber, discussing the price of the weapons this time.

"Commander Kote, as a staunch pacifist, I, in principle, do not like weapons entering the New Mandalorian government. However, with terrorism rampant, we are forced to purchase new weapons and equipment. Moreover, the credits or other resources we can offer are not very much."

"Prime Minister Almec, I know the current government doesn't want to possess weapons, but you know Death Watch has even broken into Sundari. We cannot ignore this. Regarding the request not to possess more weapons, these equipments can be considered as employment, and the government only needs to pay me five hundred thousand credits, daily maintenance and repairs, and the mining rights to the small asteroid belt next to Vadiel, or an uninhabited new planet would also work." Kote had already thought about how to say it. As long as he took the money and left after the civil war, the government would still be the government, and his ships would still be his ships.

"No! That's too much. You cannot ask for five hundred thousand credits and the ownership of a planet. But if it's just the mining rights around Vadiel, that's acceptable." Prime Minister Almec wanted to refuse halfway through, but his composure held his words back until Kote finished speaking.

"Alright, three hundred thousand credits and the mining rights. This is the final price." This was originally Kote's ideal price, and it could even be lower.

"What do you all think?" Prime Minister Almec looked at the surrounding Councilors.

"Agree."

"Agree."

All four Councilors voted in favor, so Prime Minister Almec had no choice even if he was unwilling, especially since his Cousin was still there.

"That's settled. It's been a pleasure working with you, Prime Minister Almec."

"It's been a pleasure working with you, Commander Kote."

With both parties satisfied, they shook hands, ending the discussion. Satine then approached Kote.

"Are these credits enough? If not, the Kryze Family can make up a good portion." Satine pulled Kote aside into a corner.

"No, Cousin, these are enough. But I want Great Master Qui-Gon and the others to take you away from Sundari before we achieve complete victory. It's completely unsafe here. If more bounty hunters and Death Watch attack you, I'm afraid the situation with Uncle might happen again."

"It won't happen. The two Great Masters and you are still here protecting me." Satine didn't believe anyone would harm her under these circumstances.

"Sundari is full of people and eyes. Why not hide on another planet first, or return to Kalevala?" Kote suggested an idea.

"I won't leave, Kote. No matter what, I will not abandon my people." Satine was very stubborn.

"Alright." Kote had no choice but to give up.
