Scott got into the car and drove Betty to the hospital because she insisted she was having cramps and needed to be checked. But the whole time, instead of thinking about his baby's safety, his mind kept drifting back to her. He hated the way Alistair had walked in and started talking to Riley like he had every right to stand beside her. His chest had burned the entire time. If they had not been at the cemetery, he would have shown that guy a lesson he would never forget.
And Lilian. Who did she think she was to stop him from meeting Riley? Scott hissed under his breath as he drove toward the hospital. Every time he replayed the incident, the anger hit him again. Maybe he shouldn't have said those things to Riley earlier. He glanced at Betty and found her staring at him, confused.
"What's going on?" she asked.
"I should be asking you that." Her voice sharpened as she pointed toward the road signs. "We passed the hospital, Mr. Scott."
