First Year, Class B. Everyone was happily watching the drama unfold.
"Honami!"
Ren realized he had underestimated his childhood friend's possessiveness. Long periods of pampering and his recent responses made Honami seem different than before.
Honami Ichinose sat sideways on Ren's desk. When she heard him call her name, the girl turned away with a proud pout.
She continued to tease the little cat in her arms with her slender fingers. "Mochi, it's been a long time, hasn't it?"
Honami gently pinched Mochi's round face, stretching it outwards. The cat was being squeezed and rubbed by the girl.
"Meow~"
Mochi smelled the familiar scent of Honami and didn't fight back. She allowed the girl to do whatever she wanted, meowing obediently.
My name is Ren. I thought my quiet school life would be spent attending class and reading at the library for three years.
If I hadn't brought Mochi to school today, Honami wouldn't have smelled another girl on her. Ren was only saved because he did bring Mochi.
Ren knew he was clean regarding Hiyori Shiina. If he had done anything wrong, he'd admit it. Since he hadn't, he wouldn't admit anything.
Ren's tone became firm. "Honami!"
Honami turned her head, placing a finger over Ren's lips to stop him from speaking. She looked at him kindly and slowly shook her head. "Ren-kun, as punishment, Mochi belongs to me today."
Honami Ichinose just like a judge in court, announced Ren's punishment in a voice that allowed no argument.
I'm so mad! Although she had silently accepted Ren's "player" status that night, it didn't mean he could rush out to find the next girl so quickly.
I knew something was up when I couldn't find him after school. He was meeting a fox spirit! And the most outrageous thing was that he brought Mochi, who smelled of the fox spirit, right to her face!
This is a challenge! It must be a challenge!
Seeing that Honami was ready to drop the subject, Ren also didn't bother explaining anymore.
Satisfied with Ren's quiet agreement, Honami returned to her small group to chat, still holding Mochi.
Ren, without his cat, felt annoyed. Petting cats is addictive, just like smoking. It was fine before he brought Mochi and Koharu, but now his cat addiction was out of control. That was why he suddenly decided to bring Mochi to class.
Feeling something move near his waist, Ren turned to his deskmate.
Ryūji Kanzaki took a finely wrapped orange candy from his desk and offered it to Ren, his eyes full of pity. "Are you okay?"
"I'm fine." Ren didn't refuse Kanzaki's kindness. He took the candy, unwrapped it, and popped it into his mouth.
Mmm, orange flavor. It's actually quite good.
"Young Master Katsuragi, isn't there something you want to tell me?"
"Tell you what? 'Thank you for the candy'?" Ren looked at his deskmate, confused.
Kanzaki saw Ren's genuine confusion and felt his heart sink. Was his intuition wrong?
In his mind, Ren was not a person who would settle. He was a secret mastermind who would only give orders to Honami and him when the time was right.
He's controlling the Emperor (Honami) to command the nobles (Class B)!
"So, what exactly should I tell you, Kanzaki-kun?" Ren could clearly see Kanzaki's dazed expression, making him even more confused.
"Uh, well..." Kanzaki stopped overthinking and shared only a tiny bit of his internal thoughts.
After hearing Kanzaki's explanation, Ren looked at him like he was an idiot. He straightened up, patted his shoulder, and said meaningfully, "Is it possible that it's just because I'm simply lazy?"
"Lazy?"
"Lazy."
Cut-eness knows no borders or species.
Honami Ichinose's side, the usually timid Chihiro Shiranami had succeeded. She buried her head in Mochi's fur and took a deep breath. "Umm, so happy."
When Honami brought the adorable cat in, everyone became interested in the young master's pet. They all wanted to touch her.
Mochi smelled familiar scents and didn't fight back. She cooperated, rubbing her head against the girls' hands.
Only Chihiro Shiranami was too shy to reach out. She just stared at the cat longingly.
Honami, being the angel she was, noticed the shy girl. She gently offered Mochi to Chihiro Shiranami. "Chihiro, don't be scared. She's very good."
Chihiro Shiranami carefully took the cat from Honami. When her fingers touched the soft fur, she felt a wave of joy.
"Meow~" Mochi's adorable meow was a final blow, completely winning Chihiro Shiranami over, which led to the scene Ren observed earlier.
The other girls looked on lovingly as Chihiro Shiranami and Mochi interacted.
They all looked out for the extremely shy girl.
Miyabi Kobashi quietly pulled Honami aside. "Honami, did Katsuragi-kun make you angry?"
"Uh..." Honami didn't know what to say. How could she explain that she smelled another girl on Mochi?
Silence means yes!
Miyabi Kobashi was sure of her guess. Remembering the drama in her TV shows, she shivered. I can't let my favorite couple break up!
"Honami, I'm telling you, it's normal for couples to fight. As the saying goes, fight in bed, make up in bed." To save her favorite couple, Miyabi Kobashi started giving Honami advice.
She used every romantic TV show and novel plot she could think of, rambling on about "little things couples do," "how to win back your love after a fight," and "how to keep a man's heart."
Honami became more and more confused, but she also found it interesting.
