Cherreads

Chapter 24 - Chapter 24 — This is Love! Everyone’s Losing Their Minds!

Chrysanthemum Douluo stared blankly at the golden qi rong tong tian chrysanthemum held out before him.

The Immortal Herb glowed softly, its crystalline petals exuding warmth and a majestic energy that made the air tremble.

It floated serenely, radiant and holy, and yet—

It was real.

Really real.

His fingertips trembled as he reached out. The moment he touched the petal, the gentle but overwhelming power surging beneath its surface confirmed it.

There was no dream this vivid.

"Old Ghost… you—"

His voice cracked. Words wouldn't come.

Never—not even in his most desperate prayers—had he thought Ghost Douluo would give up the herb that suited him best.

Give up a treasure that could elevate his strength, perhaps even his future…

Just to return this one Immortal Herb to him.

The Immortal Herb he lost just yesterday.

The treasure he mourned through the night.

The one he clung to in his dreams.

Now it was back in his hands.

"What are you crying for?" Ghost Douluo muttered, turning his head away so abruptly it looked practiced.

His darkened face hid an emotion he didn't want anyone to see.

"A grown man crying like that… you look ridiculous. I hate that look the most."

His tone was gruff, rough as sandpaper, but far from cruel.

"Stand up already! Squatting like that—what kind of posture is that supposed to be?"

But the more he scolded, the harder Chrysanthemum Douluo cried—this time from sheer emotion.

Just as Ghost Douluo was awkwardly trying to salvage the situation, Chrysanthemum Douluo suddenly sprang to his feet.

"Old Ghost!"

Before Ghost Douluo could react, Yue Guan lunged straight into his arms.

"What—?!"

Ghost Douluo froze as if struck by lightning.

Why was Yue Guan hugging him?

Why NOW?

What kind of ambush was this?!

"Y-Yue Guan! Are you crazy?! Let go of me!"

Ghost Douluo's face turned a deep, bruised purple. He tried to shove him away, but Chrysanthemum Douluo held on like a limpet.

"I won't!" Yue Guan cried, voice choked. "Old Ghost, you're too good to me!"

"I—I could cry again!"

"Cry my ass!" Ghost Douluo sputtered. "Stop hugging me in public! If someone sees—!"

But no matter how he struggled, Chrysanthemum Douluo refused to let go.

Across the room, Hu Liena and her companions were completely dumbstruck.

Yan's eyes nearly bulged out. "Bro… they're hugging. THEY'RE HUGGING."

Xie Yue looked like he'd been emotionally traumatized. "…We might've witnessed something we shouldn't have."

Hu Liena trembled with excitement, unable to even speak.

But in her heart she screamed:

This! Is! Love!

Even Lin Feng, lounging in his rocking chair, had trouble maintaining his calm.

As a transmigrator, he had seen a lifetime's worth of bizarre spectacles—

but he had never expected two Titled Douluo to reenact an emotional drama in the middle of his restaurant.

This is a restaurant, he lamented internally.

Not a… whatever this is.

And that fox girl beside him—why was she blushing so hard?

Excited, wasn't she?

Absolutely excited.

Ghost Douluo, desperate, hissed, "Let go! Senior Lin is watching!"

The name alone was enough to snap Chrysanthemum Douluo out of it.

He reluctantly released Ghost Douluo, though his gaze lingered on him with a tenderness impossible to hide.

"Um… Senior…"

Ghost Douluo's face was as dark as a storm cloud. His voice trembled.

"What happened just now… isn't what you think."

"Old Ghost is right!" Chrysanthemum Douluo added quickly—though the way he kept staring at Ghost Douluo made his claim utterly unconvincing.

"We were just… too excited!"

Excited your head!

Lin Feng howled internally.

Outwardly, however, he merely lifted a hand, expression bored and indifferent.

"Whatever relationship you two have… has nothing to do with me."

"This is a restaurant. Not a relationship counseling center."

Ghost Douluo's face darkened even further.

Chrysanthemum Douluo didn't care at all—hugging his Immortal Herb, he practically radiated joy.

But suddenly, Ghost Douluo turned to him sharply.

"Yue Guan!"

His voice grew serious.

"You're thanking the wrong person."

Chrysanthemum Douluo blinked. "What do you mean?"

Ghost Douluo's expression twisted between frustration and disbelief. He poked Yue Guan's forehead hard.

"You idiot!"

"Old Ghost!!" Chrysanthemum Douluo yelped, clutching his forehead. "You're bullying me again!"

"I'm bullying you? Your head must be full of petals!"

Ghost Douluo snapped.

"Why do you think Senior Lin rewarded me with an Immortal Herb?"

"Because… you performed well?" Chrysanthemum Douluo guessed weakly.

"Then why was the qi rong tong tian chrysanthemum specifically included?"

"Because… uh…"

Ghost Douluo poked him again.

"Think! Senior Lin pitied you! Why else would he reward me like this?!"

"And why as an Immortal Herb specifically? Why include your chrysanthemum among the choices?"

"So I would give it back to you."

"Ultimately, it's all Senior Lin's kindness."

"The one who truly wanted to help you… was Senior Lin."

BOOM.

The realization struck Chrysanthemum Douluo like a heavenly thunderbolt.

He stared at Lin Feng with wide, trembling eyes.

"Senior… you…"

Lin Feng lounged back in his chair, expression unreadably calm.

He neither confirmed nor denied anything.

But internally?

Brother, your imagination could win awards.

He rewarded Ghost Douluo because he needed to foster a sense of business loyalty.

He gave an Immortal Herb because that was all he had on hand.

As for planning this emotional reunion?

He hadn't predicted ANY of this.

But his silence only deepened the misunderstanding.

Hu Liena covered her mouth, eyes misty with emotion.

"Senior Lin… is so gentle…" she whispered.

"So thoughtful… so kind… I'm going to cry…"
