Chapter 23 - chapter--023--amazing

The instant the eleven Immortal Herbs materialized in midair, the atmosphere inside the restaurant froze solid.

Each herb released a unique spiritual aura—one burned with crimson flames, another gleamed ice-blue like sculpted jade; one shone with radiant gold, while another was wrapped in a veil of shadowy mist.

They hovered quietly above the room, solemn and majestic, like divine treasures overlooking mortals.

Chrysanthemum Douluo's eyes flew wide open, his jaw dropping low enough to swallow an egg whole.

Moments ago he had been sobbing over a handkerchief; now every trace of despair had been replaced by pure, speechless shock.

"Th-this… this is…"

His voice shook uncontrollably. In all his years of searching—decades of wandering, investigating, begging fate—he had never even seen an Immortal Herb.

Yet Lin Feng had casually revealed eleven.

And among them… the qi rong tong tian chrysanthemum he had lost just yesterday.

"Hiss—!" Yan inhaled sharply. "There are so many of them?"

Xie Yue and Hu Liena were equally stunned. After hearing Chrysanthemum Douluo's breakdown last night, they already understood how priceless an Immortal Herb was—treasures capable of driving Titled Douluo into life-and-death battles.

And now there were eleven floating right before their eyes.

Ghost Douluo was frozen in place.

He looked down at the eighty-thousand-year Spirit Bone in his arms, then back at the Immortal Herbs in front of him, suddenly feeling that the bone was… lacking by comparison.

"Senior…" Ghost Douluo's voice trembled. "Y-you… these…"

Lin Feng reclined lazily on his rocking chair, expression indifferent.

"I'm satisfied with your sincerity," he said. "So as a small reward, you may choose one Immortal Herb."

Boom.

A thunderclap could not have struck harder.

A small Immortal Herb?

Senior Lin Feng actually called Immortal Herbs small?

What kind of vast perspective was that?

Ghost Douluo pointed to himself, voice rising in disbelief.

"I… I can choose one?"

He had come here for the first time today—for a meal and a simple drawing—only to obtain an eighty-thousand-year Spirit Bone…

And now, a chance at an Immortal Herb?

"Pick whichever you like." Lin Feng waved his hand casually. "I have plenty."

Plenty.

The word detonated inside everyone's hearts.

Chrysanthemum Douluo felt his breath stop.

Plenty?

Plenty of… Immortal Herbs?

Those were peerless treasures unseen across the entire Douluo Continent. Yet Senior Lin Feng… had a surplus.

Ghost Douluo's eyes glowed feverishly as he studied the herbs, unable to decide which treasure to reach for.

"Senior… truly? I may really choose one?"

"Choose," Lin Feng replied lazily. "Don't waste my time."

Ghost Douluo nearly kneeled again in excitement. Controlling his trembling hands, he began examining each herb with reverent care.

At that moment, the system's sarcastic voice echoed through Lin Feng's mind.

"Tsk, tsk—small fry host, trying to act like a big shot again? 'Plenty,' you said? You only HAVE these eleven herbs! And you're already giving one away—have you gone mad?"

Lin Feng's eyelid twitched.

You don't understand anything, you broken system.

This is called investment.

Scatter bait to attract the big fish. Once Ghost Douluo brings that herb home, the other Titled Douluo will line up at my door!

One Immortal Herb in exchange for a field of top-tier leeks?

A deal of pure profit.

Ghost Douluo, meanwhile, had finally focused on the herb most suited to him—an entirely black flower radiating icy gloom: the Reincarnation Night Shadow Flower.

Its aura resonated perfectly with his Spirit; Lin Feng had already predicted he would choose it.

Ghost Douluo reached out…

Then stopped.

His gaze drifted to Chrysanthemum Douluo, still squatting on the floor.

His longtime partner—comrade of decades—was staring at the golden qi rong tong tian chrysanthemum with reddened, longing eyes.

Ghost Douluo's hand hovered in the air for a long moment.

Then he slowly pulled it back.

"Senior," he said quietly, "I choose… the qi rong tong tian chrysanthemum."

Boom.

Another explosion rippled through the room.

Chrysanthemum Douluo froze.

Hu Liena, Xie Yue, and Yan stared in absolute disbelief.

Even Lin Feng paused, surprise flickering across his face.

"Are you certain?" Lin Feng asked. "If you chose incorrectly, I'll allow another pick."

"No need, Senior."

Ghost Douluo shook his head firmly. "That is the one I want."

Lin Feng studied him for a moment, then waved his hand.

The golden herb floated gently toward Ghost Douluo, while the remaining ten vanished into the air.

"Holy—" Yan whispered. "What is Elder Ghost doing? Choosing a herb that doesn't even suit him?"

"You wouldn't understand," Hu Liena sighed dramatically, eyes sparkling.

"That… is love."

Ghost Douluo accepted the herb with utmost care—more carefully than when he accepted the Spirit Bone.

And then, under the stunned gaze of everyone present, he turned around.

Slowly, step by step, he walked toward Chrysanthemum Douluo.

A Level 95 Titled Douluo… an elder feared by countless spirit masters…

Knelt down on one knee.

A collective gasp echoed through the restaurant.

Yan nearly dropped his jaw.

Xie Yue almost lost grip of his Moon Blade.

Hu Liena covered her mouth to keep from screaming.

Even Lin Feng felt a prickle at his scalp.

Ghost Douluo held up the golden chrysanthemum, his voice soft and steady.

"Here… don't cry anymore."
