Ji Woo didn't say anything more as he walked out of the class.
Some classmates chuckled happily, thinking Ji Woo had finally lost interest.
A few minutes later, the class was empty. Only Soo Jin remained, his head on the table.
Silence.
Exactly what he liked.
But it was short-lived, as he heard footsteps.
Who is that?
But he didn't bother raising his head.
"Soo Jin."
Ahh, Soo Jin screamed in his head. Why couldn't this person leave him alone?
"Soo Jin," Ji Woo called again.
Soo Jin irritably raised his head and glared at him. "What do you want?"
Ji Woo smiled. "Have your food. I brought it for you," he said, waving a plate.
Soo Jin was taken aback by the gesture. He thought Ji Woo had taken a step back because of his behavior. Who knew he had gone to get food for him.
"Fool," he said. Ji Woo was really a fool.
Ji Woo still stood smiling as he waved the food. The smile made it so hard for him to reject or say anything; he neither agreed nor refused.
Ji Woo took his silence as acceptance and dropped the two plates on his own table, dragged his chair over, and sat facing him.
"Let's have our food," Ji Woo said.
Soo Jin gave him a weird look but took the spoon and started eating. "After this, leave me alone," he added.
Ji Woo nodded, though he crossed his fingers behind his back. He took a spoon and started eating. It was rice and pork soup.
"Are you staying in the school dormitory, or will you come from home?" Ji Woo asked suddenly, not really expecting an answer.
Soo Jin ate a spoonful of rice and dropped his spoon. He gave Ji Woo a look. "Is Mi Young staying in the dormitory?" he asked.
The sudden question made Ji Woo drop his spoon. "Yes," he nodded, though he felt a prick in his heart. Soo Jin's interest was in his best friend.
Soo Jin nodded.
"If I didn't know better, I'd think you have a crush on my best friend," Ji Woo said jokingly, though he was fishing for the truth.
"You're being delusional," Soo Jin rejected the thought.
"I'm sorry," Ji Woo apologized, though there was a hint of a smile on his face that he tried to hide. "So, are you staying in the dormitory?" It would be good if he could see Soo Jin every day.
"Yes," Soo Jin nodded.
Ji Woo clenched his fist excitedly as he kept eating.
Minutes later, their plates were empty. "Let me return these," Ji Woo said as he picked up their plates and walked out of the classroom.
Soo Jin looked at his retreating back with a weird look. "Such a weirdo," he whispered. After everything he did, Ji Woo still treated him nicely.
He shook his head. What he couldn't understand, there was no use thinking about.
Half an hour later, the students all came back. You could tell how much fun they'd had as they walked in with excitement written on their faces.
Mi Young glared at Soo Jin as he walked to his seat.
Ji Woo walked into the classroom and took his seat.
"Did you hear the news?"
"What?"
"Someone said they saw Ji Woo bringing two plates of food to the class."
"Who do you think it was for?"
"You know."
"Oh, him."
The class rep stepped into the classroom with a file in hand. "Everyone, listen!" he announced as he dropped the forms on his table. "These are the debate participation forms Mr. Felix mentioned. Mi Young, come and take yours."
Mi Young stood up, walked to the table, and picked up his form.
Just when everyone thought it was over, "Soo Jin," the class rep called.
All heads turned. Even Ji Woo looked.
Soo Jin finally raised his head slightly, enough to show he had heard.
"Come take yours too," the class rep said.
Everyone looked at him curiously, wondering if he was going to back out at the last minute.
But Soo Jin stood up, calm and collected, as if nobody else was in the class. He walked over, took the form, and returned to his seat.
Mi Young slammed his form on his desk.
"He's really serious?" someone whispered.
"Why? He's just a new student."
"This is going to be interesting."
Ji Woo peeked from behind, watching how Soo Jin filled out the form. His handwriting was neat, perfect and not sloppy. Ji Woo found himself smiling unconsciously.
But before he could smile fully, "Stop smiling," Mi Young said, glaring at him.
Ji Woo blinked innocently. "I'm not."
"You are, and it's annoying," Mi Young hissed.
Ji Woo laughed quietly. "Sorry."
Mi Young rolled his eyes.
When Soo Jin was done, he stood up, walked to the class rep, and handed her the form.
"You're really going to participate?" the class rep asked.
"Yes," he replied simply.
"No backing out?"
"No."
She blinked. "Okay…"
Soo Jin didn't say anything as he turned to take his seat.
As he walked, someone intentionally stretched their leg out to trip him.
Such a dumb and petty move, Soo Jin thought as he stepped on the foot and walked to his seat.
"Ahhh!"
The person's scream did not stop Soo Jin from taking his seat as if nothing had happened.
Ji Woo, who saw what happened, frowned. "Why did you stick your leg out to trip Soo Jin?" he asked the boy straightforwardly.
The boy scoffed, though embarrassed at being caught. "It's none of your business."
"Don't try to trip him again. What if he gets injured?" Ji Woo said seriously.
Mi Young sighed loudly from behind. "Ji Woo, seriously…"
"Idiots," Soo Jin muttered under his breath.
The boy was stunned. The students who heard the curse laughed.
Ji Woo smiled proudly. He never knew Soo Jin could curse.
The class rep clapped his hands to regain order. "Everyone, settle down. We have afternoon prep class soon."
One by one, students who were standing took their seats and opened their books, though some still whispered to themselves.
