Jefferson was the type of man who hated being oppressed and insulted. His principle of being a perfectionist CEO was always very strong, he really hated seeing Carabella care more about another man than him. Even in his heart he kept grumbling, why did the girl like a man who was more stupid than him? What exactly was Flint's advantage that made Carabella more interested? That was what made him unable to accept it and wanted revenge.
Jefferson's purpose in summoning Larissa to this shopping mall was to exact revenge, as well as to test Carabella's ability to solve her problems without his help. The contract stipulated that if she agreed to be his assistant, she would have to solve her own problems.
It didn't take fifteen minutes for the graceful woman to walk quickly toward him with a beaming smile. Jefferson responded with a happy smile as he held her soft hand, unconcerned that Carabella was currently angry.
"Larissa, I thought you were still in your office. I didn't expect you to come so soon."
Larissa lowered her head, pushing a strand of hair behind her ear. "Of course, I came this early because I wanted to invite you here. I was actually surprised to hear you were suddenly at the mall on a weekday."
His lips landed on her soft forehead, deliberately provoking Carabella, who still kept her head down. A sly smile spread across his handsome face, indicating that he was now the winner. He was so sick of being a coward.
Meanwhile, Larissa was curious about how Carabella could be hanging out with Jefferson on a weekday. Jefferson wasn't the type of man to ask another woman out with him. Although Jefferson's change in demeanor seemed suspicious, she remained calm, staring at the girl, who, as usual, had her head lowered.
"Carabella, it's rare for you to accompany my fiancé shopping at the mall."
"Because I was asked to accompany him," Carabella replied, slowly lifting her head. She was actually disgusted by Larissa's hypocritical face.
The corner of his lips lifted. His right hand patted the assistant's shoulder. "Actually, the reason I called you was because I wanted to formally introduce Carabella to you."
"What do you mean?"
"Starting today she will be my personal assistant."
"What?!" Larissa screamed, covering her mouth with her palm.
"Why are you overreacting?"
"That's what I wanted to ask you. Why did you suddenly hire her as your assistant? What about Raul? Are you going to fire him?"
"Larissa, have you forgotten that we're busy preparing for our wedding? Besides, we're also having an engagement party soon. If Raul does all the work, do you want him to get sick from overwork?"
"But-"
For a moment, he touched his fiancée's shoulders with both hands. "I don't want our wedding to be ruined just because Raul can't handle everything well. That's why I hired Carabella because she can help us prepare for our wedding."
For Larissa, this still felt odd. As far as she knew, Raul was the type of assistant who could do anything and never complained when given too much work. In fact, Raul's personality was somewhat similar to his employer's, which was why for years, Jefferson had been relying solely on him.
Now, Jefferson's sudden recruitment of a girl with no experience whatsoever has made her suspicious. Why did he choose Carabella out of all the girls in the world? And if Carabella messes up his wedding, will he be responsible?
That's right. Speaking of responsibility, Larissa already had a plan to deal with this clueless girl. A wide smile returned to her beautiful face.
"Okay, I'll just follow your advice. It's always worked."
"Thank you for trusting me, Larissa."
Larissa extended her right hand to the lowly girl. "I hope we can work well together."
Carabella nodded, shaking hands with the rich woman.
"By the way, since Carabella's here, I'd like to ask her a favor." She immediately wrapped her arms around Carabella's waist tightly. "Would you like to go shopping with me?"
"But, before that, I want to put my things in my car," said Jefferson while holding several paper bags containing clothes and accessories for his assistant.
Larissa was actually curious about what Jefferson had bought, bringing so many paper bags. He hadn't mentioned the gifts he'd given her. Could it be that he'd bought all those gifts for his new assistant? She felt like she was going crazy thinking about all these strange theories.
Now Larissa was taking Carabella for a stroll around the various department stores in the mall. She hadn't said a word, but she was silently cursing Carabella for suddenly becoming her fiancé's personal assistant. Could it be that Carabella was secretly seducing Jefferson? That was what made her want to teach Carabella a lesson for daring to accept Jefferson's offer.
"By the way, are you sure you can help Jefferson at the office? The work there isn't as easy as you think."
Carabella had expected Larissa to mock her, especially since she hadn't even attended college and only graduated from high school. It was impossible to become a personal assistant to a perfectionist CEO without a high educational background.
Despite being taunted, she remained firm, fed up with Larissa's constant humiliation. Furthermore, if Jefferson found out she was being bullied again, she would be punished. She was forced to do so because she had to comply with the terms of the agreement.
"I can do office work. You don't need to worry."
"Really? Do you know how to run a business? And you also have to frequently use a laptop and tablet to work alongside my fiancé."
Carabella smiled warmly, slowly approaching her enemy. "Larissa, am I a commoner in your eyes who can't do anything?"
Her brow furrowed as she watched the lowly girl suddenly fight her. "What?"
"I can learn from Raul about office matters directly. He'll definitely want to teach me until I'm proficient."
"But, the office is not a place to study."
"You're wrong, Larissa. Jefferson actually gave me the opportunity to learn more so I could become a smart woman like you."
