Not long after, Goku followed Bulma into the living room.
Bulma immediately started rummaging through the fridge.
"Goku, forget everything my dad just said and did.
That's just how he is—completely unserious."
"Yeah, I get it.
But your uncle is kind of fun!" Goku said honestly.
"Fun? You don't know the half of it.
In this whole family, I'm the only normal one.
Are you thirsty?
Want something to drink?"
Goku looked around their house and answered casually, "Whatever."
Bulma clicked her tongue. "Haha, 'whatever' is the hardest choice.
Lucky for me I got an investor and invented a drink called 'Whatever'…"
Before she could pull it out, Mrs. Brief walked in holding two cups of clear liquid.
Her golden curls, signature smiling squint, and constant gentle grin made Goku stare at her.
Mrs. Brief beamed. "Bulma brought a friend home!
Welcome, welcome!"
Goku stood up right away.
"Hello, Mrs. Brief."
Mrs. Brief smiled. "First time meeting—Bulma's mom.
Um… what was your name again?"
"Son Goku."
"Son Goku. Nice name.
So, little Goku… want a drink of alcohol?"
Bulma's forehead veins popped.
"Mom! Don't offer alcohol to a kid!"
Mrs. Brief didn't react at all.
Still smiling, she said, "My daughter keeps yelling.
Must be her rebellious phase.
Goku, don't mind her, okay?"
Goku waved quickly. "N-no, I don't mind!"
"Good.
I heard you found the Dragon Balls, is that true?"
Goku nodded. "Yep.
We made the wish and came back.
Bulma said she'd show me around West City for a couple days,
then I'll go train."
Mrs. Brief covered her mouth and giggled.
"Oh ho ho,
that sounds like such a fun adventure.
So Shenron is real.
Next time you go, take me with you, okay?
Mom wants to find a handsome boyfriend to play with too."
Goku's face stiffened.
He already knew her parents were wildly outgoing—
but this was on another level.
No wonder Bulma grew up the way she did.
For a moment, Goku's scalp tingled again—
and Bulma looked like she was about to die from her parents' absurdity.
Bulma sighed.
"Seriously, why are you two the exact same?
How did your daughter grow up with such solid values?
Heaven must've blessed me."
Mrs. Brief smiled blandly.
"True. You were born thanks to heaven's blessing.
Back then I tried to break up with your dad and abort you—
three times.
Couldn't get rid of you,
so I decided to give birth."
Bulma, having lived two lives, deeply understood how uneven the world could be.
But mentally she was older than her parents now.
She didn't take it to heart.
Her parents had always lived with a 'game-of-life' attitude.
Seeing them again had completely shattered her years of longing—
but it was okay.
Goku was here.
She was going to take him around, eat everything, shop everywhere,
and enjoy a few peaceful, happy days.
The next day, under West City's bright sun,
Bulma dragged Goku through a shopping-and-eating marathon.
They hit barbecue stalls, dessert shops, seafood feasts, local snacks,
burgers and pizza, noodles, sushi…
Bulma acted like a girlfriend doting on little Goku.
With him around, she let herself go.
If she wanted to taste something, she bought it and took a bite.
If it was bad, she stuffed it into Goku's mouth.
If it was good, she ate happily herself.
Days passed in a flash.
The joy made her forget those twenty years of starvation in the apocalypse.
Goku, too, got a bit indulgent.
His belly was round every day.
Even with a Saiyan stomach bottomless as a pit,
Bulma still managed to stuff him full.
To digest, Goku had to do a full set of martial arts each day.
But—
happy times were always short.
Bulma's school term approached.
Goku had to leave this rich, comfortable city.
Before he left, worried he'd suffer on Roshi's island,
Bulma packed him a mountain of supplies:
food, clothes for all seasons, blankets,
even a portable house.
Goku accepted without ceremony and left with a box of Capsules,
heading for Kame House.
Three days later, Ox-King and Chi-Chi arrived at Fortune-Teller Baba's place.
Grandpa Gohan happened to be working there as a guard.
The two martial brothers met and immediately started catching up.
After some talk, Gohan learned Goku's adventure had ended—
and that Chi-Chi liked Goku, and Ox-King wanted to propose on her behalf.
Gohan kicked that responsibility to Goku instead.
He also learned they were here to find Goku so Chi-Chi could train with him under Master Roshi.
So, out of respect for Gohan,
Fortune-Teller Baba charged them full price and divined Goku's location.
When they heard Goku had already gone to Kame House,
father and daughter rushed straight there without pause.
