Chapter 9 - Chapter 9 Sorting Ceremony

The atmosphere in the Great Hall was solemn yet excited, with all the first-year students sitting up straight, their eyes fixed on Professor Dumbledore.

Before the Sorting Ceremony began, Dumbledore stood up, adjusted his glasses, and scanned each new student with a gentle yet unignorable gaze, saying:

"Welcome to Hogwarts."

His voice was deep and powerful, echoing through the quiet hall. "Before we proceed, I need to remind you of a few things. First, the dark forest surrounding Hogwarts—do not even think of approaching it. That is the Forbidden Forest. It is dangerous for anyone who enters without permission."

"Second, the corridor on the right side of the third-floor hallway is also forbidden. Never go there. If you don't want to meet a terrible end, then please remember—never go there."

He paused, looking into the eyes of each new student, as if checking if they understood the gravity of his words.

"Thank you for your cooperation." Dumbledore's tone softened, but the warning in his voice remained impossible to ignore.

After saying these words, he smiled slightly and nodded, signaling Professor McGonagall to begin the Sorting Ceremony.

Professor McGonagall walked to the front, picked up a long roll of parchment, and cleared her throat: "Now, we will begin the Sorting Ceremony. Students whose names are called, please come forward in order and put on the Sorting Hat."

She began calling out names, and the first name rang out: "Hermione Granger."

Hermione stood up, slightly nervous, and walked towards the Sorting Hat. She put on the Hat, closed her eyes, seemingly waiting for something. A moment later, the Sorting Hat loudly declared: "Gryffindor!"

Hermione breathed a sigh of relief, turned, and walked towards the Gryffindor table, receiving a round of enthusiastic applause.

Next, Harry and Ron were also called in turn, and both were sorted into Gryffindor.

Upon hearing the shout of "Gryffindor," Ron excitedly jumped up.

And when Harry was sorted into Gryffindor, the entire Gryffindor table erupted, cheering loudly and appearing incredibly excited.

Finally, Professor McGonagall turned the list and called Moen's name: "Moen White."

Moen smiled slightly, walked forward, and put on the Sorting Hat.

The Sorting Hat gently touched his head, and after a moment, began to emit a low voice, seemingly exploring Moen's mind. "Hmm... you are a special child, I can't feel anything at all..."

Moen felt a slight tremor; the Sorting Hat seemed to have encountered some difficulty.

It paused for a few seconds, still yielding no results.

"Where do you want to go?" the Hat asked softly, only able to inquire about Moen's choice.

Moen thought to himself that the system was indeed powerful and quietly replied: "I want to go to Gryffindor."

The Sorting Hat chuckled slightly: "Good." It then shouted loudly without hesitation: "Gryffindor!"

Moen secretly breathed a sigh of relief. He smiled slightly and walked towards the Gryffindor table.

Harry and Ron waved excitedly as he approached, their faces beaming with smiles.

As soon as Moen sat down, they immediately patted him on the back with excitement.

"That's great, Moen! You're in the same House as us too!" Ron laughed, and Harry nodded in agreement.

As the last first-year student was sorted, Professor Dumbledore stood up again, smiling as he looked at all the students: "Now, the Sorting Ceremony is over. Next, please enjoy the feast." He waved his hand, announcing the start of the banquet.

A wonderful aroma wafted over, and the tables were already laden with abundant food: roasted meats, soups, various fresh vegetables, and colorful desserts.

Moen's eyes lit up, but he soon noticed that there was no rice on the table, which made him a little disappointed.

He quietly picked up some dishes, and although they tasted delicious, they still left him feeling somewhat unsatisfied.

Ever since he acquired Alchemy, he had eaten rice with every meal, but tonight, he could only reluctantly fill his stomach with some meat.

"What's wrong, Moen?" Harry asked, seeing Moen's frown.

"No rice, I'm a bit unaccustomed to it," Moen chuckled softly, raising his cup to clink with Harry's.

"Rice?" Ron smiled, patting Moen's shoulder, "I remember there is some; you can report it to Professor tomorrow."

Moen smiled slightly, a hint of warmth flashing in his eyes; he could feel the enthusiasm of his friends.

Just as everyone was enjoying their meal, Moen activated the system's scanning function again, carefully observing every detail in the Great Hall.

The feast quickly ended, and everyone had eaten their fill.

Percy Weasley, as the Gryffindor Prefect, led the new Gryffindor students out of the Great Hall and towards the Gryffindor Common Room.

Along the way, Percy led everyone into the south wing of Hogwarts, through a dimly lit corridor, and finally stopped in front of a large portrait.

The portrait depicted a Fat Lady, dressed in a magnificent gown, with a smiling face and her head slightly tilted.

"Password!" the Fat Lady asked with a smile.

"Dragon Slag," Professor McGonagall replied.

The Fat Lady waved her hand, and the portrait opened like a door, revealing a passage.

Everyone followed Percy inside.

"[Target Name]: Fat Lady Portrait"

"[Innate Characteristics]"

"1. Magical Sense: The character in the painting can sense surrounding magical fluctuations, actively interact with passersby, and convey messages."

"2. Historical Playback: The painting can preserve and reproduce historical events, replaying key moments from the past through special magic."

"3. Warning Function: Some paintings have embedded warning magic that can alert nearby people through image changes or color tones when unusual activity occurs within the Castle."

After entering the passage, everyone finally arrived at the Gryffindor Common Room.

It was warm and spacious, with several magical paintings hanging on the walls, and the sofas by the fireplace emitted a warm glow.

Percy smiled and said: "Welcome to the Gryffindor Common Room. The boys' dormitories are upstairs to the left, and the girls' dormitories are upstairs to the right. Your luggage has already been sent up."

Everyone began to split up to find their dormitories. Fortunately, Moen, Harry, and Ron were assigned to the same dormitory.

Lying on his bed, Moen couldn't fall asleep for a long time, his mind replaying everything from the day.

He thought of the many wonders and mysteries of Hogwarts, his heart filled with excitement and anticipation.

He gently turned over and found that Harry was also awake, sitting by the window, gazing deeply out at the night.

"Harry, not asleep yet?" Moen asked softly.

Harry turned his head and smiled slightly: "No, I can't sleep. Just thinking about some things." He then lowered his head again, looking out at the night sky.

Moen walked to the window and stood beside Harry. The two silently gazed at the starry sky, their hearts full of anticipation and excitement for the future.

Finally, Moen couldn't help but yawn, walked back to his bed, closed his eyes, and gradually drifted off to sleep.

The first day at Hogwarts has passed, and Moen is still struggling to adapt to this magical world.

There's still no good way to get to the restricted book section from the system's mission.

The Potions classroom is located in the basement of Hogwarts Castle, where the air is filled with the mixed scents of herbs and magical potions.

The tables around the room were filled with all sorts of medicine bottles and herbs, the liquids inside shimmering with iridescent colors. At first glance, they looked like playful little elves dancing at the bottle openings.

The classroom was quiet, as if every inch of air was filled with some kind of mysterious magic.

"Bang"

The door was opened.

Professor Snape entered the classroom, his black robes fluttering gently in the air.

His gaze swept across the students. "Today, we will begin learning Potions."
