Chapter 10 - Chapter 10 Potion class and restricted zone

His tone was low and threatening, "Potion making is a precise science and a rigorous art. You don't need to wave your wands. All you're facing are herbs, reagents, and your own heads. Any slight oversight could cause your potions to explode."

The atmosphere in the classroom immediately became serious and heavy.

The students sat ramrod straight, as if they dared not even breathe.

Snape's voice carried an undeniable authority: "Today, we will learn about cleaning potions, a simple yet essential agent. It can remove dirt from objects, and although it may seem uncomplicated, you must perform each step with precision."

Moen nodded silently, thinking to himself, "Cleaning solution? Dish soap?" He hadn't expected the first lesson to be so practical.

"Before we begin," Snape's voice rang out again.

He walked to the front of the class and began to observe each student, saying, "I'm going to test your knowledge."

He stared intently at Harry, a sneer playing on his lips. "Potter, can you tell me what would happen if I added narcissus root powder to wormwood?"

Harry felt as if he'd been slapped in the face, his mind going completely blank. "Uh... not sure, Professor." He lowered his head, afraid of attracting Snape's attention again.

Snape remained expressionless, merely glancing at him coldly: "It seems you don't even know these most basic herbal facts."

He turned to the class and said, "The reaction between narcissus root powder and wormwood solution produces a highly toxic gas, enough to be fatal."

After he finished speaking, his gaze fell on Harry again. "Next time, Potter, you'd better be prepared to answer."

"This is just picking a fight," Ron muttered, clearly displeased with Snape's harassment of Harry.

"Pay attention in class," Moen whispered to comfort him. The root of Snape's actions towards Harry wasn't because Harry had done anything wrong.

Snape's hostility stemmed more from his hatred for Harry's father, James Potter.

Snape showed no sign of stopping.

He then continued to ask the class questions, attempting to test the students' knowledge with a series of questions.

Each time, his gaze would fall silently on Harry, as if waiting for Harry to make another mistake.

Snape coldly swept his gaze across the class. "Now, can anyone tell me what the purpose of dungstone is in potions?"

At this moment, Hermione raised her hand again, a glimmer of hope in her eyes, but Snape completely ignored her and turned to Harry, asking, "Potter, do you know what the dung beetle is for?"

Hermione was unhappy with Snape's behavior.

She knew she could answer correctly, but Snape never gave her the chance.

Harry was clearly stumped. He hesitated for a moment, "Uh... is it... is it used to make potions?"

"Wrong." Snape's tone remained uncompromising. "Dungstone is a common material in Potions, used to increase the potion's potion efficacy, especially in healing and antidote potions." He finished speaking, then swept his gaze across the class again, continuing in a threatening tone, "Potter, remember, next time you do this, you might not just be wrong about the answer."

Hermione's brows furrowed tightly, her face showing obvious displeasure.

She could answer all the questions correctly, but Snape ignored her every time.

She could clearly sense that Snape was deliberately making things difficult for Harry, while ignoring her raised hand.

This made her feel extremely unfair, and her anger was about to explode.

Moen quietly observed all of this.

He knew that Snape was not a bad person, but was just deeply troubled by the hatred of the past.

Moen remembered that in the original story, Harry's father, James Potter, bullied Snape during his school years and eventually stole Lily, the love of Snape's life.

Harry's eyes were exactly the same as Lily's, which made Snape unable to resist glancing at Harry every time.

But Harry looked so much like his father that Snape's attitude towards Harry was very complicated.

Moen sighed, feeling a pang of sympathy for Harry.

He knew that Harry was unaware of these complex emotions, but when facing Snape, Harry was undoubtedly the easiest target.

Moen gently adjusted his herbs and continued to concentrate on preparing the potion.

As the course drew to a close, Moen activated the system scan again. This time, he didn't focus on the potion recipe, but instead turned his attention to everything around him.

Today's potions class was not just about making basic potions, but also about gaining a preliminary understanding of the entire magical world.

[Target Name]: Cleaning Solution

[Talent Trait]:

1. Cleaning function: It can effectively remove dirt from items and is widely used in housework and everyday magic.

2. Basic Potions: This is one of the basic recipes for many potions and is suitable for beginners.

3. Auxiliary property: It has a slight purification effect, removing some low-level magical contamination from items.

Through scanning, Moen discovered that this basic cleansing potion appeared to be associated with some more complex magical potions.

The system's scanning not only finds useful characteristics, but is also crucial for exploring the magical world.

Moen thought to himself that he should use the system scan more often in the future, as many hidden secrets might be lurking in small details.

As the Potions class ended, the students packed up their things and prepared to leave.

Harry and Ron were clearly indignant at Snape's provocation, especially since Snape's prejudice against Harry made them both uneasy.

"That's just too much, Snape," Ron said through gritted teeth. "He's always staring at Harry, what an annoying guy."

"Ignore him, Ron." Moen patted Ron on the shoulder. "Snape's hostility has nothing to do with Harry himself."

"None of my business? What do you know, Mohn?" Harry grabbed Mohn's arm. Snape's targeting was too painful; he didn't want it to continue.

"Don't get agitated, it's a bit uncomfortable." Moen looked helplessly at Harry's hand and gestured for him to let go.

"Oh, I'm sorry, Mohn," Harry apologized, releasing his grip. "I really wanted to know why."

"Because of your father."

After observing for the past few days, he discovered that the restricted book area could be accessed with a key.

The key to the restricted book section was kept by Mrs. Pince, the administrator.

Mrs. Pince was a somewhat thin and elderly woman with a stern and rigid personality.

They would carefully inquire about each student's entry and exit from the library.

Without a teacher's permission, any student who approaches the restricted book area will be chased away.

The quiet of the library made one feel somewhat lost in thought.

On the bookshelf, heavy books were neatly arranged, almost blocking out the warm sunlight from the window.

At the far end of each bookshelf were piles of ancient books and documents related to magic, and the air was filled with the smell of paper and ink.

Moen sat at a table by the window, flipping through a book called "Magical Botany".

He quickly read through the contents.

However, he did not come simply to read books, but rather to learn more about the library and the restricted book section through observation.

Whenever he turned the pages of the book, his eyes would always unconsciously sweep towards Mrs. Pince at the door.

Moen knew that to gain access to the restricted section, he needed to understand Mrs. Pince's daily routine.

As he was secretly observing, Harry, Hermione, and Ron suddenly walked over, looking both excited and nervous.

"Mountie, I can't believe it! We were almost eaten by that three-headed dog!" Harry gasped as he ran in from outside, clearly still shaken by what had just happened.

"A three-headed dog?" Moen raised an eyebrow slightly.

The plot is moving a bit too fast. Knowing the plot well, he knows that Cerberus is Hagrid's pet and the first dog Dumbledore used to guard the Philosopher's Stone.

Hermione eagerly added, "Yes! We went up to the third floor and almost got eaten by it. That three-headed dog looked ferocious, like a monster guarding the treasure!"

"It really was like a monster." Ron's face was a little pale. "It had three big heads, it scared me to death. We had just entered the third floor when the three-headed dog pounced on us, and we were so scared that we ran out of the third floor."

Moen's eyes flickered as he listened quietly to their description.

He calmly said, "Why are you on the third floor? Don't you know that place is forbidden?"

"We know," Hermione said somewhat uneasily, "the stairs suddenly malfunctioned, and we had to go around from the third floor."

Moen thought to himself, "I'm guessing it's Dumbledore's doing."

"Unexpectedly, we discovered that the third floor seems to be hiding some secret. Cerberus seems to be guarding something." Hermione's eyes suddenly lit up. "So we decided to unravel the mystery here."
