Naruto pondered about his training and need for guidance as he remembered that his biggest weakness right now was chakra control. He knew how to improve it, tree climbing and water walking and it's variations but he didn't have any plausible excuse for when he would be asked by someone about how he knew them.
Naruto knew that these things weren't taught in class, although at first he was suprised why wouldn't it be. After all they were fairly basic and could improve the power ninjutsu and help save a lot of chakra.
But as he thought about it more he slowly recognised the reasonings behind it. One, it was a time of at least relative peace and Hiruzen who had always tried to hold himself in the high standards set up by Hashirama wanted to not to let children to go to war. Afterall the purpose of the ninja village system was to prevent this.
Then again village system altered format of the endless war to a brutal periodic war that claimed so many of the shinobi that children still ended up in going to war anyways. Since prevention was better than cure they had to learn this stuff anyway, Hiruzen ended changing the syllabus to allow Jonin or Chunin mentors to be ones who taught this knowledge.
This allowed a ninja to form more bonds in the village and he hoped to have fewer defectors this way. Which I must worked to an extent.
But the problem still remains, only if I could come up with a cunning plan Dattebayo. I guess I could give it a try.
"Anosa Iruka sensei, do you remember chase me through the village last week?" asked Naruto innocently.
" Which day are we talking about?"
" Haha I don't remember either, but I just want to know how you did that trick, you know the one where you ran on the walls and caught me"
" It's not exactly something you learn in the Academy so it's too early for you" replied Iruka
" So it's possible sensei, so how should I do it" said Naruto not relenting.
This can't go on, I have to distract him.
" Speaking of which Naruto are you prepared for the exams, afterall you only three months to the first one"
" Of course Iruka sensei, it's me we are talking about, wait isn't there six months to the final exam" Naruto hurriedly corrected his teacher.

Iruka moved faster than he ever did and flicked Naruto head for good measure too
" Bakamono, that's your Ninjutsu and Taijutsu test. Your written exam is in December and after December you'll learn Tactics and Combat theory. It's the only advanced class taught in the Academy."
" Nani, advanced classes, wait up again aren't Ninjutsu and Taijutsu a part of Shinobi's arsenal and therefore advanced classes. You said it so yourself sensei" asked Naruto jumping to his feet and standing on the seat. He quickly sat down seeing Ayame coming to beat him.
" You you paid attention in class?" Iruka was suprised too. But secretly became happy for changing the subject and realising Naruto may finally improve his worst attribute, theory.
" Well yes they are advanced aspects, but you don't learn any advanced Jutsu in the Academy the highest you can is the Teleportation Jutsu and that's a D rank Jutsu"
" So we'll learn super cool techniques in this class?"
" That will be taught by a real Jonin so you ask them when it begins". Iruka quickly answered as he didn't want to reveal that there wouldn't be any practical lessons in this class and swiftly paid his bill and left the shop.
Advanced classes huh, I didn't know that it was a thing, but does this conversation with Iruka sensei count as a legitimate channel for knowing tree climbing and such. Should be enough.
Also that theory exam in December is a problem, I have to cover a lot matter in a two months. No my biggest problem right now is Orochimaru and Gaara, theory can wait. I don't think Hiruzen would hold back me any longer. Nor can I afford to. The Ninjutsu and Taijutsu should count for more marks right?
Naruto quickly went home and opened up a few scrolls and reviewed their content. He wanted to practiced hand seals and all the Justus that he could do and maybe check if he still lacked the chakra control to pull off the clone Jutsu.
