Joseph himself wasn't able to believe he killed that wretched being. How was this possible? He wasn't able to comprehend what was happening. He was covered in the black glowing mist, it's as if he had become a monster himself.
'Have I become a monster? Not this can't be, I don't want to be a monster. Am I dead?' he thought.
He looked around, he saw the monsters, the ones who didn't see him didn't attack, but the ones who saw him started to attack, he panicked.
'So, I cannot allow them to look at me'
He got out of the car since it would be too cramped to save himself from the damned monsters. He was indeed scared but he atleast had some hope now. As one of the monster which was in the shape of an eyeball attacked him, he punched it without hesitation.
The punch went through, he had hurt the monster!
He continued hitting it until it died, after it died, it simoly disappeared to thin air.
'What!?'
He didn't have time to think about all those things, he started to thrash the monsters which were trying to attack him, he punched them, thrashed them, until all of them died. Thankfully, no other monsters looked at him, all he had to do was avoid their range of vision.
But it wasn't that simple, there were simply just too many.
He slowly walked without making them notice him, even if he made some sounds they didn't detect him.
'They can't hear?'
As he learned they can't hear, he started to pick the pace up. He had to reach the police station or atleast somewhere safe.
'No, I have to go to my wife and my son'
He decided to go to his home, thanks to his newly gained night vision, he didn't find a need to use the the goggles. But he still carried them just in case.
He was surely confused by all this madness, as he started to run, some monsters did see him, he killed some on his way, but he managed to escape some other monsters's eyesight.
He was starting to get exhausted, but he didn't stop, he wanted to reach his home soon, he wanted to make sure that his wife and son were alright.
He passed through many monsters, many streets which were completely dark. The houses which looked almost similar to each other, I used to be peaceful just a day ago, but now , it hadn't been the same which was before.
He felt that his power being exhausted as he continued to run. His nightvision was slowly fading away, everything had limits. He was running out of breath, he took a stop at the place with least monsters, thankfully none of them saw him.
*Huff*
*Huff*
*Huff*
He leaned against a wall of a house. Sweat trickled down from his forehead, the mist covering his face was now nowhere to be seen. He squatted down for a bit.
After he regained some of his death he started to run again, he saw people's corpses sometimes. He saw some people still alive but the monsters were feasting on them. He wanted to save them, but he wasn't able to.
He had his limitations.
He knew he couldn't save them, but he prayed for them in his heart.
Some monsters who saw him on the way were killed by him. He was just few hundred metres apart from his house, he would soon reach it.
'Why didn't I take the car?'
'Why didn't I take the gun? I had spare ammo in the car?'
He didn't know why he didn't think of those things. He could have taken a car the trip to his home would have been faster and more efficient, why didn't he take the gun?
He almost forgot his Night vision goggles too, but since it was still on him before getting almost killed by those monsters, he was able to remember it.
Since he had fought many monsters and used a lot of this unknown power, it was slowly fading away.
Everything had some limits afterall.
Thankfully he was almost close to his home, his night vision came to an end. He suddenly felt how dark this world was, it was scary, he wasn't able to see anything. He soon put on his night vision goggles, he was now able to see things.
He soon reached a two story building, it had a pretty good architecture. He had reached his home, since he had a spare key, he didn't hesitate to open it.
He didn't see his wife and son anywhere, he went upstairs. There was a blobby disgusting monster in the kitchen, but he avoided its gaze and went upstairs, but he still wasn't able to see them anywhere.
His heart stopped for a moment.
'No! This can't be, are they..'
Even thinking about that thought made his heart heavier, his legs trembled. He was biting his lips to stop his cry. Tears welled up in his eyes, he shuddered.
He fell on his knees, but he didn't give up that easily he started to search every corner of his house, he didn't go to the kitchen ofcourse, he could elsee it from outside that his wife and son were not there.
He could not find them anywhere.
He fell on his knees again, he couldn't control his sadness anywhere, it overwhelmed his stubbornness. Tears started to flow down from his eyes, his chest felt so heavy.
He cried..
..and cried.
