After explaining everything about Cassell, Leo stood up to leave the café.
And then—four hands grabbed his clothes at the same time.
He froze mid-step, turned back, and found three pairs of pitiful, pleading eyes staring up at him.
"Senior Leo! Can't you just take us with you?" Yu Jin blurted out first, voice full of desperate hope. "Three days is too long! We want to go now, to the academy where our kind are!"
"Yeah, Senior Leo, please, take us with you!" the Doctor said, looking like he'd just found religion.
Stelle said nothing—she just stared at him with watery puppy eyes.
Kevin wore a tragic expression. "Senior, we lost all our documents. We don't even have much money left. We might not be able to afford a flight. If you could bring us to the academy first…"
Leo was stuck between a rock and a hard place. If he tried to shake them off, his shirt was going to tear.
Taking people to school early wasn't something he could decide on his own—until a new directive crackled through the still-open comms in his earpiece.
Leo nodded. Then he looked back at them, helpless.
"The professors agreed. You can come with me to the academy right now."
"If you need to pack anything, go get ready. Meet me at the intersection we came from in half an hour."
Yu Jin: "Thank you, Senior Leo. Thank you, professors!"
Doctor: "We'll definitely devote ourselves to the organization!"
"…You can let go now," Leo reminded them. "My clothes are getting wrinkled."
They immediately released him and put on awkward but polite smiles.
"Alright, go prepare. Don't be late." Leo turned to leave again. This time, Yu Jin and the others didn't stop him. Only after he was gone did they breathe out quietly.
They looked at each other—and grinned in total understanding.
Firebearer: "Didn't expect it to be this easy."
College Student: "Probably because of the bloodline thing. People behind him think we're high-tier, plus our attitude… it wasn't hard to convince them."
Programmer: "But what do we do after we get there?"
College Student: "Take it one step at a time."
Stellaron Girl: "High risk, high reward. Interesting."
They barely hesitated.
They were doing this.
If they couldn't even finish a newbie quest like this, what were they supposed to do when the harder ones showed up?
The world was huge. And they needed… power.
They left the café, all of them aware that the real test was only starting now.
As exposed hybrids, surveillance and investigation were inevitable.
But they couldn't withstand any investigation at all.
They had to get into Cassell before anyone reacted—complete the quest, take the reward, then immediately buy an 80-point one-time teleport charm from the shop and leave the academy.
Fast. It had to be fast.
If they were made to wait three days to go to Chicago, it'd be over before it began.
Meanwhile, Leo was speaking with the people on the other side of his comms.
"Professor von Schneider… is this really okay? Shouldn't we investigate them first? Observe them before deciding?"
"No need," von Schneider's hoarse voice replied. "Once they arrive, we can investigate slowly. There's no rush."
Leo shrugged. "Alright. You're the professor. But I'm curious—why make this call?"
"Because they're outstanding…"
"The target you were hunting was extremely dangerous. Yet those four pinned her down and stomped her flat. You understand what that implies."
Leo's tone shifted. "A-Rank."
"Perhaps." Von Schneider's voice gave away nothing.
After the call ended, von Schneider left the meeting room, thinking about something else.
"The principal left the campus yesterday. Not sure where he went… whatever. I'll report when he returns."
No one worried about Angers' safety.
They had absolute faith in a man who'd lived more than a hundred years.
Angers vanished from view all the time. It was normal.
Von Schneider headed out to inform Manstein in admissions—good seedlings were on the way.
At that very moment, the trusted Dragon-slayer sat in a hospital ward, gazing out the window.
Angers rubbed his chest where the metal bat had hit.
There was no wound, but some foreign energy was seeping through him—non-lethal, yet troublesome. No medical device could deal with it. Only time would let it fade.
"If those old bastards knew my current condition," he muttered with a crooked smile, "they'd rush over to take my head."
He hadn't expected this.

Maybe those four weren't pawns in anyone's game.

He knew it was dangerous.
But for his revenge, he'd risk anything.

Angers lay back down and pulled the blanket over himself.
