Jenifer's POV
I turned to Romano beside me and smiled. "Romano's always said he wanted Lorelei as his mother. After the divorce, he'll finally get what he wants."
"Jenifer, there's really nothing between Lorelei and me..." Reed's voice carried genuine worry as he tried to explain.
I cut him off before he could finish. "Let's just wait for her. We might as well discuss Romano's health while we're all here."
I'd only agreed to this dinner because I was concerned about Romano's wellbeing. The kid had never been particularly strong, and I needed Reed to understand how serious his condition was—especially if Lorelei was going to be responsible for him after our marriage ended.
"Show me Romano's latest medical report," I said, extending my hand expectantly.
Reed froze. I could practically see the wheels turning in his head.
