Chapter 32 - Chapter 32 Allergic to Truth

Jenifer's POV

I placed my fork down gently and looked at Romano, who sat between Lorelei and Reed. "Romano," I said quietly, "why don't you tell your father which foods cause your allergic reactions?"

Romano paused, his eyes scanning the seafood spread across the table with a frown. "Dad," he said in that pitiful tone, "I can't have any of this."

The longing in his voice was clear—he wanted to try everything, but those dishes would leave him itchy and uncomfortable.

I remembered when his grandmother had given him seafood once. He'd ended up at the hospital getting shots, and the poor thing was terrified of needles.

"Dad, could I get something different?" His big eyes looked up at Reed with that pleading expression only children could master.

Finally understanding the situation, Reed rushed to comfort him. "Absolutely. I'll get other food brought up immediately."
