Shanghai – a century-old port city, one of the earliest to open, once known as the Paris of the East. The prosperity of modern Hong Kong owes much to the skills, capital, and machinery brought by early Shanghai merchants. Reform and Opening brought new vitality, and Shanghai rapidly grew into an international metropolis. Many foreign, Hong Kong, Macau, Taiwanese, and Japanese enterprises came to invest and seek opportunities on this land. University graduates from across the nation to Shanghai as the place to build their careers and homes. Leveraging its excellent historical traditions and development in all aspects, Shanghai soon earned the reputation as China's number one city. And rooted in the minds of Shanghainese is one phrase:
Shanghai is the best! Soon, a storm was about to hit.
"Lockdown? Are you crazy? Only for 4 days. This is Shanghai, not some other place." Various voices clashed chaotically in the residential group chats. I must take this chance to praise our people's teacher – my lovely mother. She used to teach middle school English in the countryside. After retirement, many of her students' mothers would regularly bring her fresh vegetables, fruits, meat, and poultry. She couldn't eat it all alone and often gave most of it to us. Late that night, she called one last express car, loaded a full box of vegetables, and had it transported from Puxi to Pudong for us.
The next day, the long three-month epidemic defense battle finally began!
