Chapter 15 - Chapter 15 More Deaths Are Required

"Officer Lyne."

Peter pulled back the Police tape and walked into the living room of his cousin Louis's house.

Outside the room, many curious neighbors gathered, and several Police cars were parked outside.

Peter walked in and asked Officer Lyne, "What happened?"

"We received a report from Louis's neighbor, saying they heard screams coming from here."

Officer Lyne pointed to a pool of blood in the living room and said, "When we arrived, Louis and his wife were gone, and there were only traces of blood and signs of a struggle."

Peter frowned, surveying everything around him. "So, it's very likely Louis and his wife met with an accident."

"Highly likely. We need to examine the blood at the scene."

He patted Peter's shoulder, "But it's also possible they were kidnapped. Things haven't reached the worst point yet. We'll find them as soon as possible, dead or alive."

Peter nodded, lost in thought.

Clark said he saw little Terry at Louis's house.

He had also gone to the burial site and confirmed that the soil showed signs of being disturbed.

In other words, little Terry, whom Vanessa had buried in the corpse-raising ground, had returned home, just like Old White's son resurrected in 'The Monkey's Paw'.

Did little Terry, who had become a ghoul, kill Louis and his wife?

He had witnessed the ferocity of Bill's hounds after they turned into ghouls.

But if little Terry did it, then where are the bodies?

Even if he tore his parents' bodies to pieces, there should be residual traces at the scene; it's impossible for there to be nothing.

Gazing at the gloomy sky outside, Peter felt a spreading evil aura covering the area.

After a few words with Lyne, he turned and left the place.

Not long after Peter left, a figure stood in the distance, staring at Louis's mansion.

Father Norma, who had also officiated Louis's son's funeral, had been observing everything from within the crowd.

Only after the Police left did he turn and depart.

Driving his car, the thin Father Norma coughed as he slowed down.

After his coughing subsided, he stopped the car and took out medicine by the roadside.

Suffering from lung cancer, his life was counting down, and he could only rely on these expensive drugs to prolong it.

"It's almost successful."

After his emotions calmed down, he murmured to himself, then started the car.

The car stopped in front of an old, dilapidated blue house.

The blinds were broken, the walls were covered with twenty or thirty years of vines, and the dense small tendrils almost seemed to tear the walls apart.

A cold wind blew, sweeping up fallen leaves from under the porch, and the tangled wind chimes made a chaotic jingling sound. Two gray cats, startled by the sound, jumped off the steps and fled behind the house.

Father Norma pushed open the door, threw his car keys onto the table, and then entered his study.

Locking the study door, he forcefully pushed open the bookshelf.

Behind the bookshelf appeared the entrance to an Underground Room.

Father Norma stepped onto the stairs and slowly descended.

The Underground Room was dim and filled with a putrid smell, with an altar placed in the center.

In the very middle of the altar lay a thick, heavy black magic book made of human skin.

To cure his incurable disease, he had abandoned his faith in God and began to believe in evil forces.

This black magic book before him was his lifeline.

The black magic book contained Black Magic to control undead creatures, which was why he could control ghouls.

Yes, he could control ghouls.

After accidentally discovering that the swamp outside the town could make corpses "resurrect" into ghouls, he revealed this secret.

Indeed, some people who believed in resurrection buried bodies there.

The result was that the bodies turned into ghouls, controlled by him.

"This isn't enough; I need to convert more."

He stared at the black magic book, his expression becoming ferocious.

The more dark creatures he controlled, the stronger his power would become, allowing him to cure his incurable disease.

"More people need to die!"

His gloomy gaze turned to the calendar on the wall.

A date on the calendar was marked with a large red cross.

"Are you alright, Peter?"

At Kent Farm, Jonathan asked Peter with concern.

"I'm fine, it's just that a lot has happened recently."

In the living room, Peter stood by the window, watching the cattle leisurely grazing in the farm.

After returning to Kent Farm from Louis's house, his expression had been somewhat solemn.

"I heard about what happened at Louis's house. Tragedy always seems to strike them."

Jonathan thought Peter was grieving for his cousin Louis.

In reality, he didn't have much deep affection for his cousin's family.

But who was behind this?

That suspicious Father Norma?

He had already used Super Speed to search the middle-aged Father Norma's residence earlier but found nothing suspicious.

Should he arrest him and interrogate him?

And after the interrogation, to avoid exposing his abilities, should he then kill him?

"Jonathan, do you know Father Norma from the church?"

Peter stopped his wild thoughts and asked Jonathan about Father Norma.

"Not really. But I hear he has a good reputation."

Jonathan thought for a moment and said, "He's been the host of the annual Harvest Festival for years. Oh, right, the Harvest Festival is coming up soon. If you want to know more about him, you can talk to him more during the festival."

The "Harvest Festival" Jonathan mentioned is an annual festival in Smallville.

The origin of the festival can be traced back to the 17th century, when Puritans settled in Smallville and organized celebrations to thank God for the abundant harvest he brought them.

During the festival, people wear traditional costumes and hold various celebratory activities, such as "Bread Snatching" or "Apple Stand" activities.

"Harvest Festival?"

Hearing Jonathan say that the Harvest Festival was approaching, Peter subconsciously looked at the watch on his wrist, forgetting that the watch he was wearing was not an ordinary watch.

"Yes, Clark and Mark should be very much looking forward to this festival."

"Very much looking forward to it."

After Peter drove home, he asked the two young boys for their thoughts on the Harvest Festival.

Both of them expressed their anticipation for the Harvest Festival in unison.

"Dad, what does 'Bread Snatching' mean?"

Mark asked curiously, "Is it many people snatching one bread?"

"Yes, young people will throw bread into the air, and then others try their best to snatch it."

Clark blinked his curious eyes, "What about the Apple Stand?"

Peter ruffled his hair, "The 'Apple Stand' activity is where people sell their apples, and these apples are usually made into applesauce or apple pie. Are you interested?"

"Yes, Godfather."

Clark was clearly interested in the Apple Stand activity; he was already thinking about how to get his Godfather to teach him how to make apple pie.
