Chapter 19 - Beating up worms

Jairo had swatted them with a back fist, gritting his teeth as though it didn't hurt. then he had heard another *ploom*. For the single second he took to look around him, he saw nothing, but focused on Ariel, who looked at him with a amused expression.

Just then it had hit him. He turned and didn't see it, meaning it wasn't there's. At least not at his front.

'Behind me! That disgusting thing is behind me!' As he thought this, he'd swiftly turned around, only for the creature to snap its pincers out onto his hand.

He was too late. Hearing the grunt of pain that Jairo let out, Ariel stepped forward with genuine anger written all over her face. It took her a moment to simmer down.

'No. He simply has to learn himself. He has to fight through this. He'll go further this way. Besides, something as small as this would never stop my Jairo.'

Jairo was currently feeling as though needles were jamming into his fingers. this was not to dissimilar, but nothing in a doctor's office could prepare one for this.

But he was no Normal man either.

Grunting through the pain that shot through his body, he pulled its pincers back with force. He would not be able to do this if he were a normal human. Each and every werewolf back at his village were immensely stronger, though one who was born here would just see them as normal.

He pulled it back so much, that one of them snapped clean off, grey blood oozed out as well as spit from its mouth area. 'God why are these things so nasty?' Rang in his thoughts.

But he didn't show it. He was both too offended and to angry.

after snapping off one of its pincers, he heard more thumping sounds. He turned to them with a grin, swinging the injured stone worm at the rest of his kind, slapping them away with much more ease.

And he wasn't the one getting hit.

Ariel looked at him from the sidelines with a smile. 'He's evolving already. Becoming more willing to get uncomfortable and thinking on the fly.'

"You're doing great so far. I can't even believe it. Keep it up anyway."

Jairo was listening around, when he heard the words and quickly turned around, smacking one that thought it could creep up on him.

A loud crack resounding as he looked to Ariel.

"You had no faith in me?"

Ariel shrugged her shoulders as she leaned onto a small part of the cliff that was already dug through. "I needed you to show me first. But so far you're doing wonderfully."

"Well i surprised you, so I'll take it." Jairo said as he turned around. listening…

He was getting the hang of these creatures.

He heard one come up directly in front of him and looked at it with an almost exited expression.

He lifted the stone worm, dying from having been smacked against his comrades over and over, above his head before slamming down with as much force as possible.

He spiked it into the ground, a loud *Crack* that thundered over the hill. As he panted and looked down at his hand, he still had the pincer, but the rest of the worm had been broken off of it.

'It's surely dead now. I think I did pretty well for my first time.'

Then some wind blew, and open wounds began to reveal themselves. A few of the worms had begun to ache more, shallow cuts on his side areas and parts of his waist.

Of course, nothing could be that easy.

moreover, he took note that his hand was beginning to show cut marks. His palm and his fingers were showing cut marks on both sides of his fingers.

"You did amazing. Though it's time we headed back now." He already saw her walking over to him, eager to pull something out of her sack. Probably a healing ointment of some kind.

As much as he would love for her to touch him in any area, he had to refuse. and raising a hand, he did just that.

"What are you doing? Do you wish to bleed out?"

Jairo shook his head. He calmly walked back into the center of the holes. He didn't have much time left, and as much as he hated to admit it, her father was right.

He would have to be truly desperate, and do anything he had to to get an edge. even as it pained him he still had to do this. All he was picturing was coming back to her.

He walked back to the holes, getting into a combat stance.

He looked to her with a serious expression. "Again."
