Chapter 13 - Toward the Path of a Breeder

Pichu was still just a newborn Pokémon, so it didn't need to eat too many energy cubes. Five or six pieces were enough to completely fill it up. After eating its fill, the little guy flopped directly onto the table, its small body relaxed and its face full of satisfaction, as if it had reached the peak of Pokémon happiness. Seeing this, several of the little kids immediately crowded around it, poking here and there out of pure curiosity. Before long, Pichu got annoyed and instinctively released a small Discharge, which scared the kids into backing away at once. Pichu glared at them unhappily, clearly feeling that it was being bullied just because it was young.

Not long after, Xiaoqing returned with the sealing bags and began packing the finished energy cubes. On Su Yu's side, the production didn't stop either, with energy cubes steadily coming out one batch after another. Each type had a different color and corresponding effect, and once packed, they were placed neatly to the side. Su Yu labeled them one by one, organizing more than a dozen types into small bags before packing everything together into cartons. By the time all of this was finished, the sky had already darkened, and the day quietly came to an end.

After dinner and a quick wash, Su Yu returned to his room. After thinking for a moment, he took out his phone and called Professor Wang. Matters like patent registration were far too troublesome to handle alone, so it was best to let Professor Wang help coordinate things. He had no desire to queue up at the patent office himself. When Professor Wang heard Su Yu's intention, he was clearly surprised. Registering patents? Was this kid planning to become a breeder instead of a Trainer? Thinking about Su Yu's academic performance, he quickly accepted it and even found it reasonable.

Professor Wang told him that he would handle the coordination and asked Su Yu to go directly to the Breeders Association the next day, where someone would assist him. He then casually mentioned that there happened to be an advanced breeder examination scheduled for tomorrow and asked if Su Yu wanted to give it a try. After all, Su Yu was already an intermediate breeder and had long met the requirements for the advanced exam. Hearing this, Su Yu paused briefly before agreeing without hesitation. With his current abilities, passing the advanced breeder exam would be easy, and he could conveniently handle everything in one go, including applying for the breeding house license.

Su Yu also brought up the matter of selling his energy cube formulas, explaining that most of them were low- to mid-level recipes suitable for commercial use. If there were companies interested, he wouldn't mind selling them, especially since everything he planned to do next required a large amount of money. Professor Wang was left speechless by Su Yu's calm and practical attitude, but he didn't object. Instead, he asked if Su Yu was planning to fully commit to the breeder path and even open a breeding house. From the looks of it, Su Yu was hiding far more than he let on.

Su Yu didn't dodge the question. Becoming a Trainer was expensive, but being a breeder made money. Once he had enough capital, becoming a Trainer later would still be possible. For now, earning money was the priority. Professor Wang could only laugh helplessly and told him to do whatever he thought was best, assuring him of his full support. He also mentioned that he would be one of the examiners the next day and would introduce Su Yu to someone interested in purchasing patents.

After ending the call, Su Yu let out a long breath. Once these matters were settled, his breeding house could officially begin operating. With that thought in mind, he quickly lay down to rest. Pichu had already been taken away by Xiaoqing and the others, most likely being hugged like a pillow while they slept. Compared to the days when the old dean was still around, the orphanage finally had Pokémon again, and the children were happier than ever.

The next morning, after settling matters at the orphanage, Su Yu headed out with the box of energy cubes made the day before, Pichu perched obediently on his shoulder. He boarded the bus toward the Breeders Association, arriving right on time for his appointment with Professor Wang. Along the way, the adorable Pichu drew countless curious and eager gazes, while the faint fragrance coming from the box made more than a few people secretly guess that this young man was no ordinary breeder at all.
