Chapter 2 - The Choice Taken

Two days passed, and Heat was back on his feet.

"I can see that you've recovered," Yugitiwa's presence filled the room as he declared. "I have a mission for you."

Heat jumped out. "Master, you scared me."

"I don't have time to play around! I want you to capture the ape king and bring him to me," Yugitiwa uttered seriously.

Heat was lost. "Who's the ape king? And why is he so important to you?"

"I don't have to tell you about his importance to me!" Yugitiwa snapped.

Heat replied, "Fine."

Yugitiwa described, "I can tell you about the ape king, but not my plans. The ape king is the king of one of the main kingdoms called the Gorilla Kingdom. His name is King Gorame. He is a strength elemental leader."

Heat's eyes sparkled with excitement. "He sounds fun enough to fight. This is great!"

"Don't underestimate him! He is stronger than you think," Yugitiwa said with a firm voice.

He continued, "He is an experienced xtro. Underestimating him will be your biggest mistake."

Is he really that strong? Heat's mind whispered.

"What are you waiting for? Get to work!" Yugitiwa ordered.

Heat spread his wings. "Fine, Master Yugitiwa. I'll be back soon."

He took off in the direction of his destination, the Gorilla Kingdom. As hours slipped away, he approached his destination.

"Well, it took me a while, but I finally made it. Those trees are awesome," he said as he gazed at the kingdom.

The Gorilla Kingdom was beautiful indeed. It was centered in the Great Ape Forest. The kingdom had many trees with beautiful fruits. The air was moist and cold. The calm air carried his words on its gentle breath.

"This place is so peaceful. It's too bad I have to destroy it."

Flames raged across the land as clouds of fire cloaked the sky. As the fire cried out, many gorillas rushed to the burned sight of the kingdom. Heat's eyes gleamed with excitement as he saw the gorillas.

"This is going to be fun."

Heat charged toward them, and lightning stormed from his wings. The ground crumbled, and earthquakes sang. The smell of ash spread across the battlefield as trees cried from the raging torch of flames.

As he clashed with them, the sound of his battle echoed across the entire kingdom.

The noise crashed its way, reaching the castle.

The castle looked like the largest building in the kingdom—a yellow castle. Statues of gorillas surrounded it. These statues were statues of past and present kings and queens of the Gorilla Kingdom. This was a famous tradition known in the Gorilla Kingdom.

"What's this energy I'm sensing? The noise is very disturbing," King Gorame said as he sat on his throne.

One of his servants rushed into the throne room without catching a breath.

"My king, I bear news."

"What is it?" King Gorame asked the servant with a serious tone.

The servant held his tongue. He was trying to find a way to tell King Gorame without making him angry.

King Gorame lost his patience and smashed the wall behind him, angrily shouting, "I don't have time for this! I already know. There is a strong xtro in my kingdom. His energy is covering a dark heart. I will teach him not to attack my xtros!"

"You!" He pointed at his servant. "Call Sipore. Immediately!"

The servant called King Gorame's right-hand xtro, Sipore. When Sipore entered the throne room, he saw his king trembling with rage.

Sipore asked in a lower voice, "Your Majesty… what's wrong?"

King Gorame took his throne and threw it across the room.

Sipore froze. His mind was blank.

"I want you to use your psychic powers to teleport me to the xtro attacking my kingdom."

Sipore was caught off guard.

"Enough!" King Gorame shouted. A roar of fury came out of his chest.

Sipore spoke softly, trying to calm the storm within.

"Your Majesty, let's get going. The sooner we get there, the better."

"You're right. Let's get going," King Gorame said as his voice grew calmer.

Sipore used his teleportation ebatix and teleported himself along with King Gorame.

When they arrived, they saw many gorillas on the ground. Blood covered their bodies. The scent of defeat filled the area. Heat seemed almost bored, with no challenge left to rise to.

The eruption of King Gorame's anger was untold. He pointed at Heat and yelled,

"You killed my gorillas! I will kill you with my rage!"

Heat slowly yawned, then gently said,"Relax, you worry too much. I didn't kill anyone. I just played with them until they were unconscious. No one died."

Heat sensed the emyiko energy from King Gorame.

Wait, who is this guy? His energy is… amazing, Heat thought to himself.

Sipore said to King Gorame,

"Your Majesty, the red eagle is right. I can still sense their energy, but it's slowly weakening."

King Gorame ordered Sipore,"Contact the healing sector with your telepathic ability. While they come here, make sure that you take good care of them. When they are all recovered, take them back to their homes."

"Right, but what about that red eagle?" Sipore asked while looking at Heat.

King Gorame replied without hesitation,

"I will fight this bird. Just make sure that no one gets in my way, because I'm about to smash!"

Sipore knew King Gorame was serious, so he stayed with the wounded while King Gorame prepared for battle.

King Gorame told Heat they should fight somewhere private where no one could intervene. They went to a river found in the Great Ape Forest. The river was as blue as the sky. The peaceful wind blew gently.

"This is where you'll die," King Gorame said.

Heat started laughing.

"Me, die here? You must be joking. This peaceful place will be turned upside down."

Heat delivered the first strike. He focused both his fire and lightning elements into his feathers and used his most powerful ebatix, called the Double Elemental Feathers.

The attack was blocked. It barely damaged King Gorame.

"What? But how!" Heat yelled.

King Gorame charged toward Heat. One punch severely damaged him. Heat's body cried in pain.

Heat used his speed to avoid another punch. Another hit could badly hurt him.

King Gorame complimented him,

"You're extraordinary. You can use many elements simultaneously."

Heat replied,"You are impressed, aren't you? But you're stronger than me. Master Yugitiwa was right about you."

The mention of Yugitiwa shocked King Gorame.

"No, not him," King Gorame said worriedly. "Yugitiwa is a danger to all."

Heat asked with curiosity,"Besides the fact that Yugitiwa is the strongest xtro, why do they call him Evil Snake?"

The battle paused like a held breath.

King Gorame narrated,"Yugitiwa is the destroyer of many kingdoms. The first kingdom he destroyed was his own—the Serpent Kingdom. His father was the king of that kingdom…"

Heat interrupted,"Wait. If Yugitiwa's dad was king, doesn't that mean Yugitiwa was the prince of the Serpent Kingdom?"

King Gorame answered,"Yes. You're correct."

"But why would he destroy his own kingdom?" Heat asked.

King Gorame continued,"Yugitiwa is the only xtro with the element of venom. His power grew beyond control. One day, he destroyed the entire kingdom, along with his parents."

"Wow… He killed his own parents?" Heat asked.

"Yes. After that, Yugitiwa Sakukua became known as Evil Snake—the last existing snake who eliminated his entire species in one day," King Gorame explained.

"Now, red eagle, what do you want from me? What does Yugitiwa want?" King Gorame asked.

Heat answered quickly,

"I don't know why he wants me to capture you. But orders are orders."

King Gorame's memory snapped.

"Wait! It's you. You're the one!"

"The one…?" Heat asked.

"Yes. The prophecy mentioned an eagle who would start a change," King Gorame said. "Come with me, and I'll show you."

They went to the Waterfall of the Ape. The waterfall sang a calming lullaby.

"I really like this kingdom's atmosphere," Heat said quietly.

"The waterfall will show you the prophecy," King Gorame said.

The vision appeared.

"Is that me?" Heat asked.

"Yes, but there's more," King Gorame answered.

The vision showed Heat leading many warriors, with another warrior by his side. The vision faded.

"Heat, you are destined for greatness," King Gorame said. "Leave Yugitiwa."

Heat resisted the truth.

"No. I don't want this. I'll come back to capture you next time."

He left.

Later, Yugitiwa confronted Heat.

"Where is Gorame?"

"I left him," Heat replied.

After questioning Yugitiwa, Heat finally said,

"You're no longer my master."

Yugitiwa attacked, but Heat escaped using teleportation.

Heat returned to King Gorame.

"I've decided to follow my own path," Heat said.

King Gorame smiled.

"You're already forgiven, you miserable fool."

Back at the hideout, Yugitiwa declared,

"Heat, I will succeed without you."
