Chapter 7 - 07 Toward Carne

"Hey Ray, want to come with me? I am going to Carne Village."

He asked the mature woman while checking out her bubbly ass through her maid uniform as she took the last wooden crate from the ground.

"Is it alright?"

She turned toward him in surprise while walking toward the door out of the storage room, as he followed her on the side while also holding a wooden crate.

"Yes, you also want to check on your daughter, no?"

"But what about the house?"

"The house wouldn't become dirty just being left out for a few days. Besides, with the magic barrier put in place and my golem guarding my house, there are only a few people who can safely get out of here."

He assured her while giving his crate to the golem who was waiting outside the room, and Ray also did the same as the golem brought the crate toward the carriage outside of the wall at the back of the house.

"Although it's earlier than usual, and if you are alright with it, Master, I want to visit my daughter."

Ray bowed her head toward him while smiling happily; meanwhile, he couldn't help but smile teasingly at the sight.

"Well, you can also meet your husband after all. Is that what makes you so happy?"

Ray's mouth turned flat as she pouted her cheek cutely while glaring at me with displeasure in her eyes.

"Master, don't tease me; I am already yours."

"Hahaha, alright, alright, stop looking at me like that. It makes me want to kiss you, seeing how cute you are."

Her cheeks turned slightly pink after he said that, before she take deep breath to calm herself as her expression returned to normal.

"I will prepare myself and change my clothes. Can you wait for me, Master?"

"Sure, I will wait in the carriage. Take your time."

He looked at the back of Ray, who walked toward the main house while thinking about her husband.

"Mmm, she will find out about her dead husband soon. I wonder how she will react to it?"

He whispered to himself before turning around and walking toward his carriage.

"◇"

"Sorry to make you wait," he said as he got down from his carriage and approached Momon, who was waiting outside the city gate with Nabe.

"No need to apologize; you came according to the schedule. We just came earlier."

He smiled upon hearing his polite response, despite his overwhelming power.

"Alright, if that's the case, shall we go?"

"Sure, also—"

Momon looked back at the driver's seat where Ray sat. Understanding what he meant, he opened his mouth to introduce her.

"Her name is Rayline Emmot; she's my maid. Her daughter is in the village we're going to, so I thought to bring her along."

"Hello, nice to meet you," Ray politely bowed her head toward Momon.

When she did that, although minuscule, he caught her shivering for a bit. Anyone who saw it would think she felt cold from the breeze, but he knew what she felt.

"Calm yourself; it'll be alright."

"Yes... I am sorry to make you worried, Master."

"It's fine; just act like you usually do."

"Yes."

He ended his telepathy with Ray, as he almost let out a sigh; he supposed it was only him who felt relaxed being near a god-level entity.

Well, he also had prior knowledge about Momon's character, so that made him an exception.

"Ah, nice to meet you too."

Momon nodded his head at Ray in acknowledgment.

"You are fine, right, to be the one to walk?"

He raised himself up and then sat toward the driver's seat on the right side of Ray while glancing toward Momon.

"It's no problem; it's our job to guard you after all."

Momon casually waved his hand; it seemed he didn't bother about it.

"Alright, if that's the case, let's go."

He whipped the reins of his horse to make them move as the carriage slowly moved toward Carne Village, guarded by Momon on the right side and Nabe on the left.

Along the way, Momon kept asking a lot of questions regarding magic and alchemy, especially about his Splash Potion and how it worked; it seemed the Sword of Darkness was the one who informed him about that.

Speaking of Sword of Darkness, they are not being hired because they keep saying that they don't have the ability to guard him. They must have feel intimidated after he says that Momon is actually stronger than him.

With his experiment toward Khajiit, they might not have survived once we go back to the city.

On the other side, Ray attempted to talk to Nabe, but she keeps answering curtly and shortly, making their conversation a bit awkward.

Then, after several hours of our journey, Momon finally asks something that seems to have been bothering him for a while.

"I have been curious about it, but can you let me know what kind of equipment you wear on your ear?"

He feels Momon's gaze intensify when he asks that as he lets out a little smirk while touching his earphone with his finger.

"Oh, this? This is a magic item I made that contains a 4th tier spell [Telepathy]. It allows me to connect to the mind and talk directly to my subordinate, so I can provide help in case they are in danger."

"Oh? That's rather convenient, but why not just use [Message]?"

"You don't know about that incident?"

He looked at Momon in surprise; obviously, he already knew why he didn't know about the danger of using [Message], but he needed to act like he didn't know about it.

"...what incident?"

Momon hesitantly asked as he opened his mouth to explain.

"There was once a great country that extensively used [Message] to transfer information, but because of its effectiveness and their dependency on it, their enemy created counter magic that could hijack their network and spread false information, putting the country in chaos and causing internal disorder. Now that country is no more."

"...really?"

"Yes."

Momon looked so surprised that he stood still for a moment before he let out a sigh and began catching up again.

He probably thought about his careless use of [Message] since coming to this world and began thinking about the countermeasures, so paranoid.

"Is that why you use [Telepathy] instead?"

"Yes, not only is the flow of information faster with [Telepathy], but it can reduce the number of people who have access to it, as the spell is 4th tier, making it beyond most people's reach."

"I see."

"Also, with this magic item, it can only connect to the same one, so anyone who tries to hijack it will be instantly noticed by the user."

"That's certainly useful; maybe I can ask you to make it for us?"

He smiled hearing that; his value and usefulness to him should have increased with this talk.

"Making the item is not that complicated as long as I have the material."

"In that case, can you list all the materials you need?"

"Sure."

After listing all the materials, Momon promised that he would deliver them to him after completing this request.

As we kept talking with each other, he felt Ray nudge her elbow against his waist, causing him to look at her quizzically.

"What?"

"There is an enemy."

"Where?"

"Over there."

He looked at the place her finger pointed at, and he could see a bunch of goblins and ogres coming out of the woods toward our direction. It seemed the event was still happening like the original.

"Although we can take care of something like that ourselves, can you do it, Momon?"

"Sure, let's go, Nabe."

"Yes, Mr. Momoon."

He almost laughed out loud hearing Nabe's pronunciation, but he held himself back as his body kept trembling, trying to hold it in.

After several minutes of gory sights, Momon and Nabe finally finished killing them all as he got down from his carriage and approached them, not before giving an order to Ray to make a camp, as it seemed it was going to be night soon.

"Not bad, you really have great strength, huh? Although the swordsmanship is kind of lackluster."

He could see Nabe's face scrunched up in displeasure after he said that, and she opened her mouth to say something, but Momon placed his hand on her shoulder, making her close her mouth again.

"Is it that bad?"

"Yeah, it feels like you're just waving your sword around. From the pressure I feel, I am expecting more from you, but I guess you're still hiding something, huh?"

He walks toward one of the goblin corpses, ignoring Nabe's hostile gaze. It seems NPCs like her hate anything that belittles their master, it would be fun to break her.

He lets out a smirk thinking about when that day comes before he crouches down and touches the goblin with his right hand, activating one of his original spells.

"What are you doing?"

The goblin corpse wrinkled, slowly turning older and older, becoming like a thousand-year-old mummy before turning to dust, leaving a floating shining ball of green the size of a quail egg in his hand.

He then takes a glass bottle from his inventory with his left hand and puts the liquid inside before turning his head toward Momon.

"It's my 5th tier magic [Drain Essence]. I use it to take the essence of the living for the main ingredient of one of my potions."

"I see, can I know the usage of it?"

He curiously asked as he began gathering the corpses toward one place while ordering Nabe to do the same. Although she looked reluctant, she still did it nonetheless.

"Oh, thank you! The essence is used for my Growth Potion, which can accelerate the growth of someone who drinks it. No matter what you do, like singing or cooking, your growth is still accelerated. It essentially works like you have talent, although after a certain amount of strength, your growth is slowed down."

He threw one of the goblin corpses toward the mountain of corpses, as he also didn't want to keep draining the corpses one by one; better to do it all at once.

Momon paused what he was doing after what he said and turned around to look in his direction.

"That's really amazing, but is it alright to give me that information? I don't believe you sell that kind of potion to the public."

"Yeah, don't worry about it. I want to form a connection with you after all. Giving you some of my secrets should be able to build trust between us, no?"

He watched as Nabe threw the last corpse toward the pile. He then touched the mountain of corpses and said, "[Widen Magic: Drain Essence]."

"I don't know why you want to form a connection with me that much; we just met not too long ago."

He could sense suspicion in his tone while he just smiled, half-focused on using his magic.

"Let's talk about that later, but if you are curious, it's about the potion."

"Hmm."

Momon doesn't seem convinced, but he ignores that as the mountain of corpses slowly crumbles into dust.

He then does something like before, putting the essence into the glass bottle. Despite the mass of essence being far bigger than the bottle, the essence only filled one-tenth of it. That's because the bottle has been enchanted with space magic, causing it to have bigger storage than its size.

"I didn't notice it before, but did you cast two magics at the same time?"

Compared to all the questions he previously asks, he feels that this one is the most he intrigued with.

He supposes it makes sense; if a caster like him has the ability to cast multiple magics at the same time, he would become stronger.

"You noticed? Yes, I use [Telekinesis] to hold the essence, so it doesn't vaporize. As for why I can do that? That would be a secret."

"Is that so? That's a shame."

He can practically taste the sheer disappointment from him as he lets out a chuckle. It's thanks to one of his subordinates that he can cast multiple magics at the same time.

Maybe it's time to give all his subordinates the same ability? It's kind of overpowered, after all. With his current ability, he is capable of doing it.

As for Momon, with his constitution, he doubted he could have it.

"Anyway, let's go back. Ray has already prepared everything for the night."

"Sure."

The three of us then walk toward Ray, who is waiting beside the campfire and seems to be cooking something. As he breathes in the delicious scent, his stomach growls.
