Chapter 23 - Shocked to Hear My Brother-in-Law Killed Someone

Su Qing woke up as usual, struck by his own handsomeness.

Last night had been a busy one.

Fortunately, he was a man of action and confident he'd left no evidence. He was even too lazy to deal with the six poachers' corpses, leaving them to rot in the wilderness.

Yawning as he got out of bed, there were no tall, beautiful, blonde-haired, black-stockinged maids to serve him. Hmm, not used to it.

"Tsk, already fallen so far. Too corrupted by the sugar-coated bullets of capitalism."

Su Qing gave himself a stern self-criticism.

Then, he wasn't planning to change.

"Knock, knock, knock..."

A knock sounded at the door.

Su Qing opened it to find Wang Hai.

"Brother Wang, what's up? Any news on the leopard skin?" Su Qing asked, feigning excitement.

Wang Hai forced a smile. "Brother Su, it's not that I don't want to help, but there's really nothing I can do this time. Those guys got taken down mysteriously, and the police are investigating. Nobody dares to go against the grain in this sensitive period. Next time, okay?"

"Taken down?" Su Qing pretended to be puzzled.

Wang Hai turned on the TV, showing the morning news.

A pretty female reporter held up a long, thick, black object and spoke confidently to the camera.

"According to the police's preliminary investigation, the six deceased were a poaching gang. Two were killed by blunt force trauma to the chest, resulting in broken bones that pierced the heart, one had his throat crushed, and three were shot at close range, resulting in their heads being blown open."

"The killer's methods were very skilled, possibly a professional assassin. The police are investigating with all their might. We remind the general public to be extra cautious recently…"

"See? They're all dead. Though those guys deserved it, there's a right way and a wrong way to die. To be killed... six lives. This is a major case." Wang Hai sighed and then casually turned off the television.

Su Qing shook his head. "They deserved it. Since this is fate, let's just leave it at that. I don't want the leopard skin. No trade, no killing, right? Thanks for the hospitality, Brother Wang. I'm heading back today."

"Don't be like that! You finally come all this way, stay for a couple more days. I'll take you out to have some fun." Wang Hai tried to persuade him to stay.

Su Qing waved his hand, declining his offer. "Brother Wang, you're running a business; you know how busy you are. Me being here is not only delaying you but also myself. Next time."

"Alright, since you put it that way, I won't keep you. I'll take you to the airport." Wang Hai said.

Su Qing invited, "Want to grab some breakfast together?"

"Sure, I'm starving." Wang Hai replied.

At the same time, at the Xijiang Province Police Department.

Because the case occurred on June 28th, it was called the 628 Major Case. The provincial department had already established a special task force to investigate the case.

The head of the special task force was Wu Lingkai, thirty-seven years old this year, and a senior police officer.

"Everyone, the forensic results are out. The two victims with shattered chests were killed by fists. It can be inferred that the two knives were also bent by direct blows from the fists. Moreover, several shots were fired at the scene, indicating a fierce struggle, but according to the trace analysis, there was only one perpetrator." Wu Lingkai's expression was grave, because this was an extremely terrifying person.

However, he didn't know that four of the shots were actually missed by Su Qing's terrible gun skills, which created the illusion of an intense gunfight.

After all, they couldn't have imagined that the perpetrator's marksmanship was so bad.

Whoosh!

The small conference room was immediately filled with an uproar.

"Captain, are you sure we haven't made a mistake? How could anyone be that strong? It's not scientific!"

"Yeah, the chest cavity was completely pierced. And the knife was bent from being hit head-on. It's too far-fetched."

"Did a human really do this?"

"Could there really be people in this world who are invulnerable and fast enough to dodge bullets?"

"Quiet!" Wu Lingkai shouted, looking around. "Although it sounds unbelievable, that's the situation. We have to accept it and then figure out how to catch the murderer and bring them to justice."

"How are we supposed to catch them? Didn't we find out those poachers had several murders on their hands? They deserved it." A young man muttered quietly.

Wu Lingkai glared at him, then looked at a woman. "Zhao Ying, what do you think?"

Zhao Ying was twenty-six years old this year. She had a high education, high looks, and a high figure, and she was the deputy team leader of the project team.

Tsk, young and already suffering from the "three highs."

"It sounds unbelievable, and I'm also at a loss for now because it's really unscientific," Zhao Ying said with a wry smile, feeling somewhat helpless.

A person flashed through her mind: the chairman of the Zijin Group, who successfully stole back the five bronze heads. That matter was also unscientific, but it happened nonetheless.

However, she quickly dismissed the thought.

Su Qing's identity wouldn't allow him to personally commit murder. If he had done it, they wouldn't be able to find any evidence anyway, so it was useless to suspect him.

But she wasn't ready to abandon this line of thought.

At noon, Wang Hai hosted Su Qing again, then sent him to the airport. The two bid each other a fond farewell.

Honestly, Wang Hai was quite to Su Qing's liking.

Don't get the wrong idea, he wasn't into that kind of thing.

He just genuinely thought this person was worth getting close to.

The kind of genuine connection between men.

After boarding the plane, Su Qing took out paper and the Creation Pen, preparing to write: "The pen will provide Su Qing with a cultivation method in his mind, the simplest kind."

But no words appeared on the paper.

Clearly, the energy wasn't enough to produce a cultivation method, because this was defying the heavens.

"I just want to cultivate, is that too much to ask? Why won't this thing even give me that?" Su Qing sighed.

Creation Pen: Big Brother, isn't this going a bit far? Don't you have any idea how outrageous this is ▼_▼?

Since he can't cultivate immortality, he'll just keep on violating this world, paving the way for the spiritual energy's revival.

He might as well store up the energy. After all, it's so difficult to get a cultivation technique, the energy needed for the spiritual energy's revival will definitely be even greater. If he doesn't allow the spiritual energy to revive, he won't be able to cultivate even with a technique.

Su Qing picked up the pen and wrote on the paper: "In Summer Country, randomly select a lucky ancient tomb. During the excavation, an ancient book recording the legends of immortals will be unearthed, along with an ancient sword that can cut through a hair..."

This time, he spared Sanxingdui, otherwise, it would be easy for a certain author to get locked up ⊙ω⊙.

He wants people to believe that immortals once existed in this world, so they'll believe the doomsday prophecy, and the subsequent revival of spiritual energy won't cause panic.

Moreover, he's not exactly lying. After all, the Creation Pen exists, so how could there be no immortals?

It's just that the immortals might not be on Blue Star.

After writing this, it consumed 0.2 energy, leaving him with 5.2. Su Qing thought for a moment and decided to add another buff for himself, writing: "The pen's master, Su Qing, will possess mind-reading, able to read minds just by looking at the target."

Another 0.2 energy was deducted, leaving him with 5, a whole number, which satisfied his compulsion.

Su Qing put away the Creation Pen and looked at a passing, beautiful air hostess, testing out his mind-reading ability.

The next moment, a voice appeared in his mind.

"Xue Che, that bastard, got me pregnant and then wants to deny it? Dream on. See how I deal with you when I get back to Jiangzhou, you jerk."

Su Qing's eyes widened.

Holy crap, Jiangzhou, Xue Che, isn't that the name of his, as yet, unseen brother-in-law?
