Hades
I had left the training yard after training with Iris. For some reason I was irritated which was a problem. Because the source of my irritation wasn't an enemy wasn't a rival Alpha or my uncle. Or the endless stack of reports currently waiting on my desk.
It was Iris.
I entered my office and shut the door harder than necessary. The sound echoed through the room.
Immediately, I regretted it not because I cared about the door but it made me realize just how much she had gotten under my skin.
My mate. My stubborn, frustrating, impossible mate.
The image of her during training flashed through my mind. She was avoiding my gaze. Refusing to look at me and answering every question with a single word.
The memory immediately annoyed me again. I dropped into my chair. For someone who had survived battlefields, rebellions, and assassination attempts, I was disturbingly distracted by one human woman.
Human.
At least that was what everyone believed. A knock interrupted my thoughts.
