Peter looked up to confirm.
Seeing Gwen nod slightly, he could only think to himself:
"I hope I don't end up getting dragged to the police station again like last time."

Chapter 26: Send Me to the Sky as a Sacrifice? (Add to your favorites and continue reading)
Oscorp Industries is a major company in the Marvel Universe, just like Stark Industries.
Both maintain close ties with the military.
However, Stark Industries focuses more on conventional military weaponry and has a stronger partnership with the military, almost becoming their preferred contractor.
On the other hand, Oscorp focuses on high-tech future weapons, biotech, and pharmaceuticals.
In terms of overall strength, Stark Industries undoubtedly has the upper hand.
After all, it's a family business founded in the 19th century.
But Oscorp—the so-called "villain-making machine"—is no less formidable.
Yet, the high-tech devices and genetic drugs they developed ultimately failed to secure full cooperation with the military, indirectly creating several supervillains.
Of course, this isn't surprising, given that Oscorp's CEO, Norman Osborn, is himself the notorious Green Goblin.
"I wonder if Norman Osborn has already become the Green Goblin."
In the afternoon, Peter and Gwen arrived at the Oscorp Industries building. The towering, luxurious structure immediately piqued their curiosity.
"So far, there's no news of the Green Goblin causing trouble, and considering Gwen only became Spider-Woman two weeks ago, he probably hasn't been injected with the serum that transforms him yet."
"What do you think of this place? Pretty impressive, right? I was amazed the first time I came."
Gwen noticed Peter staring blankly at the building. She nudged him with her elbow and giggled.
"Come on, I'll give you a tour."
Although Gwen was just an intern, she acted like the hostess in front of Peter.
"Well, actually this is my second time here."
Peter, of course, wouldn't say this aloud—no one admits past awkward blunders to a pretty girl.
At this point, Peter still harbored no special feelings toward Gwen.
…
However, Peter immediately felt a bit awkward upon entering.
Gwen first took him to the front desk to get a temporary visitor pass.
This would make the rest of their tour easier.
Coincidentally, the receptionist on duty today was the same one present the last time Peter had sneaked into the company, triggered the alarm, and was escorted to the police station.
"Hi, Gwen. How come you're here so early today?"
The receptionist, wearing a black professional suit, slim and attractive, seemed to know Gwen well and greeted her warmly.
"School started today, and we have no classes this afternoon, so I came early."
Gwen smiled and greeted a few friends in the company.
"Oh, let me introduce you—this is my classmate, Peter Parker."
Of course, Gwen didn't forget her purpose and pointed him out.
"Parker, you… wait, aren't you Parker?"
The receptionist looked at Peter, ready to greet him politely, but suddenly realized this person looked familiar.
The next moment, she remembered Peter was the intruder taken to the police station the last time.
After all, she had been reprimanded by her boss for that incident and remembered it well.
"Oh, did you meet him before?"
Curious, Gwen asked.
"Oh no, I got the wrong person. Your classmate looks just like that Hollywood actor Andrew Garison… what's his name again?"
Just as Peter prepared to explain, the receptionist slowly reassured Gwen that she had mistaken him for someone else.
Peter noticed a subtle meaning in her gaze toward him and Gwen, almost like people shipping a couple…
"Does she think my last intrusion into Oscorp had something to do with Gwen?"
Peter realized immediately that a misunderstanding had arisen at the front desk.
"You know, if he were any thinner, he really would look like him."
Even Gwen couldn't help but give Peter a careful once-over before forming her conclusion.
…
"Here you go, Parker. This time… don't lose it!"
The receptionist handed Peter the completed temporary pass, her expression seeming like a warning not to get kicked out again.
"Peter, let's go. I'll take you to meet my internship mentor, Professor Connors."
With the pass in hand, Gwen prepared to guide Peter to her mentor.
After all, bringing Peter here wasn't just a tour—she hoped he might intern here.
"Oh, by the way, Gwen, Professor Connors is hosting a very important guest, so no one is allowed to disturb him."
Just as they were about to leave the front desk, the receptionist remembered something and said to Gwen:
"Well, looks like we need to change plans. How about we first check out some of the ongoing experiments here?"
Gwen looked apologetically at Peter and suggested the alternative.
"I'm fine with anything—you decide."
Peter replied casually.
"Alright, let's take the elevator to the fourth floor to see the bio-genetics lab. There you'll see the coolest creature here—a spider."
For some reason, Gwen was eager to show Peter the spider that had granted her special abilities.
"A spider? You mean like the one Spider-Woman came from?"
Peter stared at Gwen, then spoke slowly.
…
Finally, they agreed and headed to the visitor area by elevator.
Ding.
As they walked from the lobby to the elevator, they seemed lucky.
A shabby middle-aged man, with a tattered backpack and looking completely out of place, hurried out.
He looked around nervously as he walked.
"Someone catch that guy! He stole my stuff!"
Just as the stranger tried to pass by Peter and Gwen, another elevator door opened.
A middle-aged man in a white lab coat, missing an arm, ran out and shouted at the scruffy man.
The attempted theft exposed, the shabby man stopped pretending, sped up, and tried to escape before security arrived.
However, as he passed Peter and Gwen…
Peter, usually indifferent, acted as if nothing had happened.
Gwen, driven by justice, immediately blocked his path with her leg.
CRACK!
The man tripped and fell face-first, sliding several meters across the floor.
Water splashed… clang clang clang…
His bag spilled, scattering contents everywhere.
Next, he seemed entirely unconcerned about injuries or his belongings—he grabbed a bottle of liquid reagent from the floor.
Then he stood up and ran out, not looking back.
Among the scattered items, a few vials had rolled toward Peter's feet.
One tube, glowing green, seemed to draw Peter in irresistibly.
He picked it up.
CRACK!
Peter stomped on the vial, shattering it. Clear green liquid spilled across the floor.
"You want me to perform a sacrifice in the sky? Forget it!"
