THEO'S POV:
I searched for Kayla everywhere at school, bars, malls, every corner of the city with Annie and Sevi.
I asked everyone outside the mall if they had seen her, but no one knew anything.
Then an old beggar recognized her after seeing the picture on my phone. He said two men had grabbed her, shoved her into a black car, and driven away.
My heart skipped a beat.
Kidnapped? Is she okay? Where did they take her? What do they want from her?
I went back to my car and told Annie and Sevi everything.
"I feel bad for the kidnappers…" Sevi said jokingly and chuckles
"This isn't the time to joke!" I snapped.
"Relax. You know her," Sevi said. "She's way too dangerous for the kidnappers. That's why I feel sorry for them."
I rolled my eyes and focused on finding her.
By evening, I had checked every corner of the city, but there was still no sign of her. Then her stepmother called, saying Kayla was at home.
I stopped the car, relief hitting me hard.
I drove back immediately.
She was sitting on the couch, legs crossed, scrolling through her phone like nothing had happened.
I pulled her into a tight hug.
"I'm so glad you're okay. I was so worried."
She pulled away and signaled me to stay quiet. My father was sitting nearby, working on his laptop and taking calls. She motioned for us to go upstairs.
All four of us went into my room. I locked the door behind us and hugged her again.
When I pulled back
"Are you okay?" I asked.
"What happened to you?" Annie added.
"Heard you got kidnapped?" Sevi said.
"It wasn't a kidnapping," Kayla said casually. "Just some stupid punk who thought he could finally get revenge on me. He forgot who I am, Sia Kayla Wayne. Not an easy target, but the biggest mistake of his life."
She smirked, sipping her beer.
"I came home easily after beating his ass and dumping him into a garbage truck. Now he's in the hospital."
Annie spoke carefully.
"If he tells the police about you, you could get into trouble…"
"It won't happen," I said calmly. "I won't let it happen. You'll never see him again."
Kayla already knew what that meant.
He tried to hurt Kayla, my Kayla. I won't let that man breathe peacefully for even a second after that.
"Which hospital is he in?" I asked.
"I don't know… maybe the one near Star Café."
I unlocked the door and walked out of the room.
