THEO'S POV:
I was at the club with Sevi and the other guys, taking shots. Suddenly, my heart started beating loudly. I felt uncomfortable, a strange, heavy feeling settled in my chest, like something bad had happened. I didn't know what it was, but I knew something was wrong.
I went to Sevi.
"I'm going home."
"So early? Why?"
"I just don't feel great…So I'm going home."
"Oh man… okay. Take care. See you on the weekend."
"Okay."
I went to the parking lot, pulled out my heavy bike, and rode home.
When I entered the house, there was no one in sight. I thought everyone had gone to sleep, but that strange feeling still lingered. Something had happened.
I went to the kitchen to grab a beer, and that's when I saw Roselyn, standing by the counter, worried and anxious.
"What happened?" I asked.
She hesitated for a moment, then told me everything. My eyes widened in shock.
"Why didn't you call me before?!"
I went straight to my stepmother's room and entered without knocking.
"How could you say something like that to her?!"
"Stop defending her! You always defend her and spoil her! That's why she forgets her worth!"
I ran my hand through my hair and across my face.
"Her worth?! She's your daughter, for God's sake!"
"She's not my daughter!" she snapped. "She's an orphan my husband adopted and burdened me with after his death!"
"She's still a human being! How could you say something like that to someone who has already lost everything? A curse? Seriously?"
"She deserved it."
"I can't believe this… I still can't believe it."
My expression turned cold.
"Maybe Kayla was right....very....very right....about you."
I stepped closer, anger burning as I struggled to control myself.
"You're not a mother. You're a selfish, worthless bitch."
Her face stiffened.
"You blame that girl because you can't blame yourself. The real reason your first husband died was you and you know it. He had enough of your unfaithfulness and cheating. That's why he got drunk, met with that accident, and died."
Her eyes widened.
"And what happened to my father today? The company didn't back out because of Kayla, it was because of you. The CEO is your high school ex, the one who hated you cuz you cheated on him also. He pulled out all the investments after finding out you're the owner's wife, just to get his revenge on you."
My voice sharpened.
"But as always, you blame Kayla because you're too much of a coward to look in the mirror and see your real face."
She was too stunned to speak.
"What? You didn't think I knew all this?" I continued coldly.
"I've known everything about you. I stayed silent, until now. But if you ever dare to point a finger at Kayla again, I'll make sure I break every one of your fingers."
I leaned closer.
"If you mess with Kayla, you mess with me."
I turned away.
"And now, I'm going to tell my dad the real reason the CEO backed out, so he knows your bitter truth too."
As I walked away, she broke down, grabbed my leg, and begged me to stop.
"Please… I'll do anything. Anything, just don't."
I stopped and looked back.
"Anything?"
"Yes… anything."
