Chapter 27 - Frostgrad Heiress

Moments after the knight knelt, he opened the carriage door.

A girl the same age as Ryan came out, wearing a thick white fur cloak; her skin was pale and clear.

Her long hair was a light silver color, and her eyes were an icy blue.

Ryan noticed a light, bluish-silver shield beneath her cloak, and on the girl's shoulder was a emblem.

It was a cracked ice crystal

Ryan was looking at her steadily. When the knight saw Ryan's gaze upon his mistress, he struck Ryan hard on the thigh, causing him to kneel.

After Ryan knelt in pain, the knight spoke:

"My lady, this is the boy who was in the carriage attacked by bandits."

Ryan raised his head to look at a girl who was about his own age, wondering,

'Who is she?'

Noticing Ryan's gaze, the girl spoke in an annoyed tone:

"Froskar, does the person I saved have to look at me like that?"

Froskar looked at Ryan and saw the way he was looking at his mistress.

"You stupid boy, how dare you look at your savior like that?"

Froskar stood up, grabbed Ryan by the collar, and was about to punch him when he heard a sound

"my lord"

The charioteer approached them quickly, and when he reached them, he knelt down.

"I greet Serissa heiress of Frostgard!"

Ryan was still looking at the rider who was holding his collar, and his patience was running out.

"It seems you know me. Give me a reason not to kill this insolent person."

"This boy is Ryan Darvin, brother of Celine Darvin."

The girl was surprised.

"My sister Celine's brother."

The driver nodded.

"Yes, and to make sure, Mrs. Celine gave this to me and told me to show it to you if I met you."

The driver slowly approached Serissa, stepped forward, opened his hands, and offered her a necklace whose base was a snowflake, and chains that were white.

Serissa held the necklace.

"You don't seem to be lying. Take the chain. It's something I gave to my sister myself."

She looked at Ryan, who was annoyed.

"Froskar, leave him alone. He's from the sister's family."

Froskar let go of Ryan's collar and straightened his clothes.

"You'd better watch your own actions, kid. Your gaze will be the death of you one day."

Ryan turned to look at Serissa and offered his respects.

"I'm sorry, miss. I was surprised a moment ago. I'm sorry if I disrespected you."

Ryan looked at her to see her facial expression, which was expressionless.

"Thank you for saving me. I have nothing to repay, but if there is anything I am able to do, all you have to do is ask."

She replied,

"Don't worry, since you're Sister Celine's brother, you don't need to reply to anything."

Ryan bowed.

"Then I'll take my leave; I have a long way to go."

Ryan turned to head towards his car, but before he could move, Seresa's voice stopped him.

"Where are you going?"

Ryan turned to look at her.

"Where? To the carriage, of course."

Then his driver spoke:

"Sir, this is where your journey with me ends."

Ryan was surprised.

"What, why?"

"Well, Mrs. Celine asked me to leave you with them if we meet them on the way, and I think that's for the best."

"And also, after what happened, the horses ran away and may not return."

Serissa turned to her car and got in, then looked at Ryan through the door.

"Aren't you coming up?"

Ryan didn't know what to do; of course, traveling with those horsemen was the best option for protection.

But this would have given him less privacy

Ryan sighed and got into the white carriage.
