Chapter 33 - Chapter 33: You Didn't Have To

Alaric Davenport turned off the light and lay down on the other side.

An awkward atmosphere once again filled the room.

For one, she wasn't sleepy yet. For another, she didn't feel she could just turn over. Lying there so rigidly, it was hard to fall asleep.

They were under the same comforter, but a wide gap separated them.

"Are you really going to visit my family with me tomorrow?"

Rosalind asked, knowing he wasn't asleep.

"Mm."

"You don't have to go if you're busy. Anyway…" 'Whether we go back or not, that house doesn't mean much to me.'

She left her sentence unfinished. She couldn't just tell him she didn't get along with her family, could she?

"I'm free."

Hearing his reply, Rosalind was once again at a loss for words.

He said he was free, which meant he was definitely going with her.

The only sound in the quiet room was their faint, steady breathing.

Alaric, who had been lying on his back, rolled over, his back now facing her.

It looked like he was getting tired.
