Zahid didn’t hesitate.
He was about to confirm the violent truth without a single moment of hesitation, but then stopped after meeting my eyes.
Zahid’s eyes grew thinner, and a smile bloomed on his face.
He reached out his hand and caressed my cheeks.
“What is the matter, Aerta.”
He then whispered in a soothing, kind voice.
“What scares you so much?”
“……”
Though I tried to act like nothing was wrong, this was Zahid.
He was more skilled in reading and dealing with people than anyone.
It was impossible to hide your emotions in front of him.
His hands were incredibly warm.
The old saying that a person with a cold heart has warm hands, crossed my mind.
Though it is just an old saying, it sure as hell described Zahid pretty well.
I wrapped my hands around his and spoke quietly.
“Answer me. Will you kill them?”
Zahid keenly looked into my eyes.
“I won’t if you don’t want me to, Aerta.”
His voice was sincere.
