Three successive whistling sounds echoed in the eerie silence of the night as a younger boy ducked and skid a few meters away from the location the arrows landed.
The masked younger boy turned to look at the person who fired the arrows and gave her a wink before speeding away.
The masked person who had fired the arrows earlier followed behind the boy at a similar pace. She took out an arrow and knocked it against her bow about to fire another shot.
Three seconds. It only took her three seconds to knock the arrow arrow against her bow and that was just the time the person she was after needed. Everything went silent as no sound of movement or rattling leaves could be heard. "F*ck" the masked person cursed under her teeth as she immediately searched for nearby tree to use as a shelter. She had already made the mistake of giving her opponent the upper hand and being in the open would just be a freebie.
Just then, she heard a fast whistling sound and another one immediately followed. But the arrows didn't fly in her direction. In fact they were fired directly towards the large tree directly opposite her and even missed.
Just as she was thinking the boy had missed her hiding spot, a third whistling sound followed and another arrow landed in the same spot just like earlier, which confirmed her hunch.
She waited for a fourth shot and as soon as it was released she locked onto the boy's direction, knocked three arrows against her bow and moved to the perfect spot before releasing them. A low grunt of pain immediately followed which meant that she landed her hit.
At least that was what she thought.
Just then, loud squealing sounds reached her ears, getting closer every passing second.
"Wild boars. Damn" the masked person muttered as the squealing sounds of boars got closer.
"I wish I could say checkmate but let's just save it for later, shall we" Lucian said to his master as he came out of his hiding spot.
"You sure are very slippery. But don't let it get into your head, you're not planting that flag tonight" the masked person said.
"Alright then, give it your best shot" Lucian replied before dashing into the woods.
The masked person on the other hand unsummoned her bow and arrows and summoned two daggers before dashing into another direction.
The reason why she didn't follow right after the boy was because the wild boars had caught unto her scent and she needed to lay them off or else fight a herd of senseless beasts. And she couldn't outrun them either, which left only one choice.
Although she was speaking with the boy earlier normally, the actual distance between them was pretty huge and since she was the one closer to the herd of wild boars when the boy awoke them, she was the first scent they caught up to.
After putting a good distance between himself and his master, Lucian stopped in his tracks after spotting the blue shinning orb in the distance ahead.
Lucian was currently undergoing his last training session with his master after being taken through archery in the last seven months.
The last stage has taken him over a month and for the first time, he has successfully reached the blue orb where he had to plant the flag of 'liberty' as final act to bring his training to an end.
He unsummoned his bow and arrow and summoned a white a blue flag. He turned around with the intention to end the last stage of his archery training when he heard loud squealing and cries coming from his eastern direction of the forest. As a holder of the ability "Universal language proficiency", he was able to detect the cries were cries of help and pain. Thinking it was his master who was slaughtering the wild boars he called on her, he just smiled and turned to make the run. Then he felt it. Lucian felt a very heavy presence press on him almost making him unable to stand. Although his first time feeling something like that, he knew it wasn't good. In fact, he felt it was bad news. Really bad.
