Chapter 3 - First Quest Of Courage [Part 1]

Lucian and his master were currently in the borderlands which was also known as no man's land.

It was a forest stretching between the continents which wasn't claimed by anyone and was roamed and ruled by dangerous beasts and savage tribes.

Although the beautiful archer knew it was dangerous before she chose it for her disciple's last training, she didn't expect it to be as dangerous as encountering a high ranking beast like this.

Just as Lucian was thinking of going after his master, he heard a loud mention of his name making him turn.

But just as he turned, he felt a very heavy load slam into his body making his world turn in several angles before his body slammed onto the ground skidding a few meters.

Lucian got up slowly from the ground, grunting in pain.

"If…th..this was…part of yo…ur traps, then you got me pr…pretty badly"

Lucian stammered in pain, caughing out a mouthful of blood.

Before he could turn to look at the place where he was hit, he heard grunting noise and just then a strong hand pressed hard against his neck, raising him into the air as though he was an empty sack.

"A human child? It's been a long time since I ate a human" The words reached Lucian's ears as he tried to get a clear vision of the creature that had attacked him out of nowhere.

"And oh, I've never had a human child before. I bet you will taste even better than the adults" the creature added.

As Lucian's vision cleared, he was able to appraise the creature gripping his neck.

It was a creature with a human body and the head of a bull.

Although more taller and structured than a normal human. "A Minotaur" the boy immediately recognized the creature. His grandfather had made sure he knew about all the races and creatures that existed in the world and how dangerous or friendly they were with humans and a Minotaur was the last thing closest to friendly. Lucian immediately began thinking of a way to escape his predicament when a whistling sound reached his ears and the next thing that followed was his body crushing against the ground.

"Who dares!!" The Minotaur's hoarse voice reverberated in the quiet night as he turned to the direction where the arrow came from.

"Ooh, a woman. Looks like the Gods have decided to reward me today"

The Minotaur clenched his fist and run furiously towards the young lady who had interrupted his tasty meal.

He jumped and shot at her ready to strike but Freya made a quick dive, skidding a few meters away from where she stood earlier.

The Minotaur's clenched fist only met the bare ground, creating a huge crater which proved how powerful the blow was.

"With such a force, he should between rank 7 and 8.This is bad" Freya realized the kind of situation they were in as she released two counter arrows making the Minotaur stagger a few meters back.

"Go Lucian. Run. Do not stop until you get to the falls" Freya's shouts reached the boy's ears but he didn't look at her.

He turned to look at the blue shining orb in the distance and then to the flag lying on the ground.

He was just a few meters away from completing seven months of hard work and he couldn't afford to throw all that away right now.

He turned to his master who was using the trees as a cover and launching sneak attacks at the Minotaur.

Although she was strong, Freya knew that a rank seven Minotaur was nothing to scoff with. It would take everything she had to get a chance of defeating it.

"I need to finish this" Lucian said and quickly took a recovery potion from his storage ring and gulped all of its content at once.

A few seconds later, his injuries began to heal making him feel much better.

He turned to look at the flag and then to his master's direction one more time and that moment, Freya met the boy's gaze.

"You fool. I know what you're thinking, don't be stupid"

Lucian only gave her an apologetic smile before making a quick run for the flag of
