Chapter 7 - Grandpa's letter

There was silence again, then Kimberly took a long breath in and out. Arya could clearly see that she was preparing herself for... whatever was to be said.

"I...I...don't know where to begin from!" Kimberly said.

"Maybe from the start," Arya suggested.

Kimberly looked at her with pleading eyes, that said, 'please just walk away and never ask me about it ever', but Arya was determined.

"Follow me," Kimberly said, getting up and walking away, and Arya obliged; the food still untouched. Who could eat when the atmosphere in the room was so tensed.

Kimberly lead Arya to a small room, that was locked. She instantly recognized this room; it was the only room that had a 'ghost' in it, or that was what all three children were told and no one was allowed anywhere near it.

Opening the lock, Kimberly said, "get in there, you'll find the answers you're looking for."

Arya looked into the room, which was surprisingly clean. A chest sat on the center and walking to it, she realized it also had a lock.

Kimberly, who was right behind her, opened the lock, and before leaving said, "once you open this box, there's no going back. Whatever you decide afterwards, I'll agree." She still had pleading eyes. She didn't want Arya to know any more then she does already. She doesn't want her going to that cursed village. Why didn't Arya understand that she herself was born in that village and so was her sister, Arya's mother, yet she never wants to go there, and here is Arya.

Kimberly hoped that she would change her mind, but also knew that she was Anna and Mark's child. She has definitely inherited her mother's strong will and her father's determination.

Arya sat on the floor after her aunt left, closing the door behind herself. She took in a deep breath and slowly opened the chest.

Her heart nearly stopped as she looked in, envelope after envelope of unopened letters. Did her grandpa actually write to her all this while?

She picked up one and saw the senders address, it was their address with Pete's name.

This confused her, but she decided to open one and see inside. She tore the envelope and took the letter out. Opening it she realized it was her letter that she had sent to her grandpa. This particular letter was about her winning a math competition.

She opened all the letters one after another; all in her handwriting, all for her grandfather.

But why were they here? Why didn't they post them? She didn't realize when tears has started dropping from her eyes, and her hand moved faster.

By the time all letters were opened, tears ran in torrents.

Why hadn't they sent these letters? Her first instinct was to barge into the kitchen demanding an explanation, but before that, she saw her childhood toy, a horse made of straws, that her grandfather had made by stuffing his old shirt with dried straw that he used to make scarecrows with.

She hugged the toy, ignoring the stink it had accumulated over the years. Nostalgia swept over her. She felt something hard in it, so she push two fingers into it through the back, and sure enough, she felt something. Pulling it out, Arya saw a neatly folded paper. Putting her toy down, she wiped her face on the back of her hand, then slowly and carefully opened the paper up.

She gasped when she saw it was a letter from her grandfather, to her. It read, Dear Aria, if you are reading this letter, that means you haven't forgotten about Moonsglow, and you want to return.

Before your final decision, there are some things that are important for you to know.

Aria, you are not a human. This may sound strange, but you're a werewolf; yes they exist. I'm a werewolf, your parents were werewolves, so was Kimberly. Kim had to make some very hard decision, kill her wolf or mate, her love, Pete Hunter. She chose Pete, and ... I can't go through the details but she can never take her wolf form anymore. Any children they bare will be purely human.

The only reason you haven't changed is because of Anna's chain around your neck. Yes I hope you haven't removed it. The pendant is a moonstone, your father Mark's pack symbol and it contains a mixture of wolfsbane and silver, your weakness. Because of that, no other werewolf can smell or feel you, because you haven't found your wolf.

Down to another main thing; your parents were killed, by the then alfa's son. (The puppy that ran on the road). You were betrothed at birth to him, by now I'm pretty sure he's the alfa.

Aria, he must NEVER find you. Ever.

He will force you to marry him and kill any people involved in you life. The only way he can recognize you is through your eye colour and your smell. Oh yes and your name. He must never know your full name is Aria Moonstone.

Honey, if you're reading this letter, it could mean only one thing, I'm long gone. Dead.

There's another very important thing sweetheart, in the Moonsglow pack, the alfa had a full right to have as many she wolves as he wants, whether they agree or not, but only you can give him a pup... meaning child, which means the day he finds you, he won't ask... ( I hope you're above 18) your permission for sex, he will force himself on you, and you won't be able to do anything.

A few days before Pete and Kim showed up, I had heard the then alfa talking that as soon as you're of age ( meaning you get your period) he will force his son to do the unspeakable to you, just so that he can see his grandchildren before passing.

That's why I called them, and just as luck would have it, both father and son had to attend a very important pack meeting on that same day, and I was able to get you out.

Aria honey, I can't force you not to come, but there are some precautions that you will have to take... looks like they have arrived, Pete and Kim. Anyways, never remove your chain and wear a lens, any other colour, just not blue.

Bye, and see you in the next life.

Love,

Grandpa.

Tears blured Arya's eyes. There were a few things she noticed in the letter, her name was spelt with an I not Y. And her surname. Moonstone?
