Pete and Kimberly sat on the sofa, the food covered and lay on the dinning table.
"Don't worry Kimmy, everything will be fine," Pete said, holding her hands, while trying to calm her down.
Tears had long dried on Kimberly's face, but she looked like the calm before a major storm.
"Pete, I don't know how I'll face her! She won't believe that I hid so much from her. Will she ever forgive me?"
"Sure she would, she will understand the situation."
"She's the only thing I have left of my sister. I can't lose her too."
"Kimmy, you and I both know she's a strong willed person..."
"That's what I'm worried about, Pete," Kimberly said half angrily.
"She's an adult now Kim. You know that we cannot keep her locked away forever. I'm just glad she decided to ask us before going, because we both know she could have just gone and we'd never know."
"Is it true?" Came Arya's voice behind them. Turning around, they both saw her holding a letter. "Is... is gran...grandpa really..." she couldn't complete her sentence as she burst into tears. Pete immediately rose to comfort her.
She sat across from Kimberly. Pete went back to sit beside his love. Both women looked at each other, and Kimberly nodded, looking down.
"Why didn't you tell me?"
"Arya... I'm..."
"All these years of sending letters, hoping he'd reply... I... I thought.... I thought he abandoned me. I thought he didn't love me! Why d...?" Arya asked between sobs. She couldn't even complete the question.
All this while, her only wish was that her grandfather would come and take her back; or at least visit once.
"Arya, Kim was just trying to protect you," Pete said, defending his wife.
"I know uncle Pete, but don't you think hiding something this big could have turned out deadly for me?... like what if I had decided one day to wear some other necklace and take this one off? Or just took it off because it was itching my neck?... do you realize how many times I had wanted to take it off, but God knows why I didn't."
"Bobo, now you know everything! What do you want?" Kimberly asked.
Arya was taken aback by the direct question. She doesn't know half the things about herself and she still had so many unanswered questions left.
Knowing all this only made things worst.
On one hand, if she doesn't go, she can get most of the answers here, from her aunt. On the other hand, if she doesn't go, she loses the biggest opportunity of her life and career, and lose her best friend forever. She might never be found.
"Oh my God!" Arya said, shocked as she realized something. "Rebecca! She has blue eyes," she said out loud. "What if she got into trouble because of me!"
Pete and Kimberly stared at her. "This is bad... really bad!" Kimberly exclaimed. "If he thinks at the slightest that she can be you... he'll..."
"He'll what?" Arya's eyes grew wide with fear.
Kimberly just shook her head.
"Aunt Kim?"
"Arya, that place is hell on earth. The previous alfa of our pack had started a harem, where he kept every unmated female wolves as plessure objects. The way your grandmother protected us was so hard. That is one reason why both your mother and I got out of there before we had... come of age, and luckily, your mother found her mate, your father... but the price they had to pay was heavy. Alfa Kane wiped out more then half of Mark's pack, just so he would have to stay in Moonsglow pack... and when I found out Pete was my mate, he ordered me to kill him or kill my wolf," Kimberly said, sobbing.
"So... the dire wolves... they aren't normal wolves, are they?" Arya asked in a serious tone, as it dawned on her that werewolves would be larger compared to any normal wolf.
There was a stretch of silence. "And I wasn't lying when I said that we could discover a totally new species of wolf?" Arya took a deep breath, and put her face into her palms.
What should she do? These people sacrificed so much to protect her and keep her safe; wouldn't it be unfair for them if she walked into the same hell that they gave their lives just to keep her away from?
Why did he do that?
She was (is) supposed to be his mate, so why kill her family?
She still remembered the black pup that ran in front of the car that day, how her father tried to save that monster, only to take the lives of his wife, unborn son, and his own. The o lyrics reason Arya survived was because her mother had placed a pillow in front of her, buckling it with her so she could sleep on the way... did she know something like this would happen?
"Bobo?"
Arya raised her face, wet with hot tears, when she felt a handon her head. Her aunt Kim was standing there, patting her head, like she always did whenever she was crying. "Please Bobo, eat something. You haven't eaten whole day, and it's almost dinner time."
Arya raised her brows in shock and looked towards the window. It was already getting dark outside.
"What's the time?" Arya asked, her voice came in a hoarse whisper.
"Seven."
"Yeah, I'm hungry," Arya said, getting up. I'll freshen up and..."
With that, she went to Natalie's room, dragging her legs one after another. Entering the bathroom, she took a bath. Wearing the same clothes she was wearing, she came downstairs, to find pizza on the table.
She smiled and opened the box. The tension was still thick, but Arya wanted her family to eat something together, as this could be their last meal together; yes, she has decided.
Arya bought the wine she had bought yesterday out of the fridge, and poured it in three glasses, without saying anything.
All three of them sat down and ate without a word. Arya's family knew her decision.
