"Kyle!"
Lyla burst through the door looking disheveled.
"Kyle.. you…"
Kyle turned to her, eyes wide. Her words faded when she saw the prince in the study.
"Ah~~"
She quickly bowed her head low and tried to stammer an apology, waving her hands frantically.
"Your highness—I-I'm sorry—I didn't know you were in here-I just…."
"You just?"
"I-I heard Kyle was being… bullied. So I came over as fast as I could." Lyla replied with a small voice, staring at her feet.
Of course it wasn't exactly "bully" she heard but she couldn't say exactly what she heard for fear the crown prince might do something to him.
Alex stared at both maids. He had heard from Lucas that the boy had a friend who had been taking care of him. He narrowed his eyes, he wondered if there was something else in it for her. He decided to test her
"As you already know, Kyle always attracts trouble everywhere." He paused then pretended to do something on his desk.
Lyla raised her eyes to glare at Kyle. The boy shrugged and whispered back to her
"Hey, the castle if full of crazy people. How's that my fault?"
"You are crazy." She whispered back, voice filled with a kitten's spite.
He almost gasped dramatically. His hidden traits were finally coming out. Now that he didn't have to hide he was kind of enjoying his life here. But now the prince was trying to restrain him with some calculated schemes and hidden agenda.
The prince cleared his throat. They paused.
Looking at Lyla, Alex spoke
"Kyle will be my personal maid from now on and you will guide him on what he should do." He paused again to let the information sink. What he was looking for didn't show. Either she was good at pretending unlike Lucy or she was just as dumb as the maid boy.
Lyla's eyes widened for the nth time. She thought this the prince's way of punishing him.
"Yes, your highness."
"His room will also be changed to the maids quarters in the royal wing. Lucas would go with you to Kyle's current room to move his things to the new one."
"Noo.. it's alright. I'll move them myself." said Kyle.
"Alright then. Lucas would still show the new room."
As far as Lyla knew the royal maids wing has been empty ever since the queen died. The queen loved both husband and son dearly that she attended to them and when she died, both the king and prince forbade maids from attending to them.
They all turned to the door about to leave, when the prince spoke again
"Kyle, wait behind."
