" So what are we doing down here. I thought the next
step would be some crazy werewolf shit," Ethan said, as he descended the
stairs to the basement. The concrete steps groaned under his weight, and the
air got colder with every step, like the basement was exhaling on him.
" A part of my blood is still there on the ground, if
you leave it there, it will eventually attract other supernatural beasts to
this place of yours, and you wouldn't want that," Amon's voice rang in his
head, he still felt dread as he heard the beast's voice, but he had slowly
began to adapt to it—very slowly.
"Others? You mean there are actually more? As in, there's a bunch of different beasts weirder than humans out there?" He
exclaimed in shock, as he took the last step.
Hearing Ethan, the werewolf couldn't help but snort in
disdain," child, it seems you haven't been paying attention. Then again,
it is expected as you are nothing but a filthy human," He said with his voice carrying suppressed
anger.
" Jeez dude, why do you hate humans so much? "he asked,
but this time the beast didn't respond. Ethan shook his head in resignation at
that. Slowly, he started walking over to the washing machine.
He pushed it aside, revealing a huge golden motherboard chip
thing on the wall.
[ Hello Ethan, I am Algorithm 1, the Carter family's personal Artificial intelligence system. But you can call me A1,]
Hearing the mechanical voice of the system, Ethan smiled
faintly," Hello A1, it's been a while,"
[ Approximately three days to be precise Ethan]
" Yep, gotta go into the details," he was truly
baffled as to how responsive this thing was. It just seemed too—intelligent for
a normal AI.
[ The details are very important, but that shouldn't be why
you're here, am I right. Please tell me what you need?]
" Straight to the point, I like it," Ethan
responded faintly," I need you to open the laboratory, I haven't finished
what I went down there to find out last time,"
[ Yes, I shall open the lab immediately.]
[ Beep! Facial recognition required]
Ethan brought his face down to the level of the system, and
a glowing light suddenly engulfed him.
The light moved around his body, slowly scanning his face,
and when it faded back into the system, a rumbling sound emerged from below.
[ Access granted: Laboratory facility opening]
Grrr! Rumble~
The ground slowly shook below his feet, causing him to fall
to the ground, but immediately after, it stopped shaking, and a stairway
underground had already in front of him.
" Phew!" Heaving out a deep breath that he didn't
know he was holding, he slowly descended towards the stairs, but just before
his entire body went underground, he remembered something very crucial.
" Hey, A1, how do I get out of here when I need to
leave?" The last time he had come in here, he had no way of leaving, and
the way he left was still somewhat of a mystery to him.
[ All you need to do is to slightly hit the entrance wall
when you're coming back up, and it would automatically open.]
" Oh, that seems so easy I feel like a fool for asking.
Anyways, thanks," he then took a
few more steps and completely went underground.
Thud!
As soon as he completely went in, the entrance immediately
closed behind him.
" Sigh, here we go," he said, as he went down the
stairway with caution.
Unlike last time, it seems the glowing light emitting from
the circuit veins were still active, giving him a way of seeing better.
But honestly, he felt like he would still able to see
clearly even if it was dark. He wasn't sure, as he hadn't tested it out yet,
but it is a possibility.
" Of course you would be able to see better in the dark. As a new born creature of night, although you haven't connected to a
world stream yet, a few of your physical abilities would of course be
enhanced," Amon said with a loud snort, his time still as disdainful as
ever.
" Oh, yeah that makes total sense — wait a sec, I
didn't say that aloud, so how did you know what I was thinking?!" Ethan
raised his voice in alarm. He had thought of the fact of seeing in the dark in
his mind and made sure that he didn't say it out loud, so how could Amon have
known what he was thinking.... unless..... A chill bit down his spine as if
someone poured ice water through his skull.
* He can hear my thoughts!*
" Of course I know what you are thinking! My soul is being housed in your mind scape, so whatever you think about, what ever at all,
I would know. At the same time, I can also see your previous memories, and
trust me, you're probably one of the most worthless humans I have ever met, and
that's saying something. I have met a lot of them," Amon spoke with pride
and mock. He seemed to have seen how pathetic Ethan had always been around
others and the weakness he showed.
" I don't care about what you think of me, but how is
it possible that you can hear my thoughts, that is totally unfair to me!"
He lamented, as he arrived at the metal door and pushed it open.
* Damn! I totally forgot about the smell of this purgatory,*
as soon as he went in, he was once again greeted by the decent if chemicals and
dried carcasses mixed together.
" Honestly, this place has to be hell on earth,"
he spoke, his hands covering both nose and mouth, while making his way through
the laboratory.
Slowly, he returned back to the cabinet and saw the remnants
of the broken glass and spilled blood on the ground where it had slipped from
his hands and broken.
Seeing this, his mind couldn't help but recall that fateful
evening. He wasn't completely sure of exactly what happened after he had
fainted, but he still vividly recalled the evening three days ago.
" Honestly, if I had known that I was going to have
some creepy old werewolf in my head after coming in here, I would have laughed
myself to death," he chuckled.
" Do not move too close to the remnants of the blood,
as there seems to be chaos energy mow occupying it,"
" Chaos energy?
" It means, take a step closer to it, and your body
would liquefy itself in agony long before death takes mercy on you."
" So basically, I'm going to die by turning into
slime,"
" Yes, that's the human term,"
" So how do I take it off the ground without actually
touching it?" He asked inquisitively, while staring at the black liquid on
the ground, surrounded by broken glass shards.
" Either you get a moon crystal, or you get strong
enough to lift it without dying, meaning you become an Alpha wolf in two
days?" The beast explained calmly, his voice a bit too calm for the
situation they were in.
" I suppose becoming an "Alpha" within two
days is totally out of my reach, so my only option is too find a moon crystal,
which I should believe is not something anyone can just find, am I right?"
Ethan thought, assessing the situation as fast as he could.
" Surprising your stupidity failed you this time and
you actually are correct," Amon spoke plainly," but, deducing all of
this would do you no good, as you still would be unable to find anything useful
to help you,"
" Are you sure about that, my parents did a lot of
crazy stiff down here, there has to be something that could help," He
thought, as he looked around the place, hoping to find something.
" Good luck with that in the meantime, I shall return
to my slumber, awaken me after you have found something... useful," And
the voice if the beast slowly receded back to it's silent ways, indicating that
Amon had truly gone to sleep without a single care in the world.
" Damn this stupid wolf, it's all his fault and he
doesn't even seem to care," Ethan let if a frustrated sigh, as he began
looking for something in the lab that could help him.
Ethan searched, and searched and searched, even sometimes
having to move the disgusting bodies if dead animals.
By hour three, Ethan
had threatened to punch every drawer in this lab if one more of them squeaked
at him.
•••••[ 4 hours later]•••••
Eventually, after about four hours of searching, Ethan
finally found a wooden box hidden carefully under a rusted table.
Taking out the box, he slowly opened it, only to be met with
six transparent looking crystals that seemed out of this world.
" Uh, Amon, are these moon crystals?" Ethan asked
with a tired expression.
After about four hours if searching for something, he was
finally lucky enough to find the exact same things he was looking for—
" No!"
Like pouring cold water on an already freezing man, Ethan
felt the stab of the denial digging deep into his heart.
"I spent FOUR HOURS looking for scam crystals?! Oh, I'm
about to commit a crime." He exclaimed with fury in his eyes, but soon
eventually calmed down after punching a few items off the rusted tables.
" If these aren't moon crystals, then what are
they?" Ethan asked with a tired look on his face.
" Those are replicas. It seems your father and mother
had also been trying to replicate the natural creation of moon crystals, and
these seems to be it,"
" So they aren't the real deal uh?"
" Yes, absolutely not real,"
" But what if I try it and it works," Ethan asked,
as he grabbed one if the crystals and walked towards the blood.
" That wouldn't work, it's fake, so it can't absorb
chaos energy, "Amon said with a fervent shake for his head.
This was a total waste of his time.
" Well it wouldn't hurt to try!" Immediately, he
threw the crystal at the blood in the ground.
Thud!
The crystal landed into the puddle of black liquid, and
immediately bubbles began brewing as the blood seemed to be boiling non-stop,
wanting to melt the crystal into nithiybut wax, but seemed unable to do so, and
instead, the crystal began to absorb the blood into itself, making the wolf god
shocked as he witnessed the sight.
" Impossible! Impossible! That,... shouldn't
work!" The night god exclaimed, his jaw hanging with the threat if totally
falling off.
Ethan on the other hand felt incredible, as he yelled out
loud, "LET'S GO! Fake crystals my ass!"
