Maya's POV
Derek pounds on the door again. "Maya! I know you're in there with him!"
Ethan moves to answer, but I grab his arm. "Wait. Let me handle this."
"Are you sure?" Ethan's eyes search mine.
I nod, even though my heart is racing. This confrontation was coming eventually. Better to face it now.
I open the door. Derek stands there, his hair messy, his eyes wild. He's holding his phone, and I can see the photo of Ethan and me kissing on the screen.
"Is it true?" Derek's voice cracks. "Are you really with him now?"
"Derek, you need to calm down"
"Calm down?" He pushes past me into the penthouse. "I get a photo of you kissing another man and you want me to calm down?"
Ethan steps forward. "Watch your tone. This is my home."
"Your home?" Derek laughs bitterly. "Is that what you tell yourself? That this is real? She was supposed to marry me!"
"You threw her away," Ethan says coldly. "You chose Vanessa."
