Chapter 4 - 1x4: Crimson Rain

The leaves rustled on the forest floor as Remy left with the woman. The noon sun felt warm on their skin as sunlight could finally hit them after being in the shadows of the trees.

Remy couldn't believe they had told everything to this woman. After a huge internal fight. It felt unfair. They felt sensitive. Way too sensitive. What if she turns out evil? No, she can't be. She's way too good for that.

And now they were heading to the village. The only place the woman believed their sister and her friend could have headed.

As soon as the two arrived in the nearby village, the woman's eyes locked on a girl with purple hair like Remy's. "Is this your sister?" She asked Remy, gesturing at the shocked girl who had clearly recognized them.

Remy just nodded and watched as Hexa and Aatos walked closer to them with narrowed eyes. Remy's eyes flashed with fear. They knew they messed up big time.

"How could you?" Hexa spat.

"I-I was just curious.." Remy said sheepishly, their hands shaking. They had never seen Hexa get mad over something they did.

"Well, if you didn't notice. You and your stupid curiousity got us stuck in an alternative universe." Hexa said through gritted teeth.

Before Remy could respond, the green haired woman got in between them. She was trying to calm the situation down. "An alternative universe you say? I'd like to hear more."

Aatos's eyes lit up again, a glint Hexa hated. The woman is going to ask about that machine. Aatos probably has an essay written in his brain about it, and when he starts rambling about something, he goes on and on for hours.

"Yeah, I'm leaving." Hexa said before turning away and walking back to the village. She glanced back one more time when Aatos started talking with the woman, and Remy just stood there awkwardly. She sighed.

Footsteps echoed as Hexa walked in the alleys between the houses. Soon, the sun wore out and rain droplets began to fall on her.

She walked deeper into the village, looking for some kind of shelter now that she would have live in this world for the rest of her life. All this because of her sibling.

It didn't take long to get to a better-looking part of the place. It wasn't actually that much nicer, but it contrasted the other part of the town really well. They even had stone paths there instead of dug-up dirt. And what was nearby? A huge castle. Could this be a way to claim a roof over her head? Hell yeah.

Hexa found her way to the castle. There were guards on the doorstep, of course. Six men holding spears. She was politely going to ask them to let her make a compromise with the queen. She needed that shelter.

When she stepped on the stairs leading to the doorstep, the guards pointed the spears at her. She opened her mouth to speak, but suddenly everything went black.

In the pitch black, she saw white outlines of her mother, red marks on her neck and heart, and Hexa the one holding the dagger.

Hexa finally snapped out of it just to see all six of the guards lying motionlessly on the ground. No.. This can't happen.. What kind of a monster am I?
