Chapter 37 - The Soon-to-Arrive New Students

"Hey, I'm just as curious as you are." Hearing Oscar's question, Ma Hongjun was full of question marks himself.

"I just found a good restaurant and was about to have a nice meal, but Boss Dai suddenly sent me a message calling me back.

I asked him what was going on, but he acted all mysterious—said he wouldn't tell me until you two came back."

Now that everyone was present, Dai Mubai stopped beating around the bush.

"Today, I originally brought that pair of twin sisters with me to relax for a bit, but as soon as I arrived, I ran into two very interesting people.

A boy and a girl. The boy's appearance was pretty ordinary, but the girl was quite beautiful—around twelve years old, yet already possessed spirit power of level twenty-nine.

I fought with the boy. Even though he was just a Control-type Spirit Master with a Blue Silver Grass martial soul, his strength was extraordinary.

After he unleashed his spirit skill, I had to use my White Tiger Vajra Transformation to break free from his control.

And that's not all—when we fought hand-to-hand for a bit, if my current level wasn't thirty-seven, far higher than his level twenty-nine, I might've actually been at a disadvantage.

Then I probed a little further and found out that those two are indeed here to apply to our Shrek Academy. With their strength, it looks like we're about to get new classmates."

Dai Mubai's words instantly caught Oscar and Ma Hongjun's attention. Ma Hongjun even stopped complaining about Dai ruining his relaxation plans and instead became completely focused on the topic of the new students.

There were two reasons why the three of them cared so much about the academy getting new students:

First, it was simply the nature of young people to be drawn to new things. After three years, finally having new classmates to "suffer through training" together with was quite exciting.

Second, there was the matter of their strength.

When Dai Mubai had first enrolled in Shrek Academy, his spirit power had only been level twenty-eight. But now, these two new applicants already had level twenty-nine spirit power.

That level wasn't any lower than Ma Hongjun's, who had been benefiting from Oscar's burgers as cultivation assistance every day.

Of course, Ma Hongjun had his own reasons for his slower progress, and the new students' levels still weren't above those of Oscar and Aoshen.

When Oscar was twelve, his spirit power was level thirty-two, while Aoshen's had been level thirty-three, nearly thirty-four.

Now, both of them were level thirty-six, but Aoshen was already close to breaking through to level thirty-seven—equal to Dai Mubai's.

As for combat ability, Dai Mubai had gained three years of training at Shrek Academy and three years of combat experience in the Great Spirit Arena.

Even without relying on a Soul Tool, he could still defeat a recently advanced four-ring Soul Ancestor by leveraging his martial soul's superiority.

Yet now, he had been forced to use his strongest third spirit ability by a mere Great Spirit Master, and had even suffered slight losses in close combat—that alone showed how powerful the other boy was.

With all this, it was no wonder Dai Mubai had called everyone back early to the academy. Even now, they were excitedly discussing how best to welcome the new students.

But among them, Aoshen's mind was slightly elsewhere.

"So, it's already been this long since I came to this world? These two must be Tang San and Xiao Wu. Their enrollment means the novice period is coming to an end… and the grand waves of this continent are drawing near to me."

Fortunately, the other three were too busy enthusiastically chatting to notice Aoshen's distraction—except for Cohen, the big white dog sitting beside him.

When Aoshen finally came back to his senses, ten minutes had passed, and Dai Mubai, Oscar, and Ma Hongjun were still passionately talking.

Looking at the three of them, who clearly hadn't realized what really needed to be done before the new students' arrival, Aoshen couldn't help but sigh helplessly.

"So what exactly have they been talking about all this time?"

Left with no choice, Aoshen spoke up:

"Hey, you three—after all that talking, did none of you notice that we don't actually have any proper dorm rooms left for the new students to stay in?"

That one line immediately froze the conversation.

They turned around and glanced toward the dormitory area, where only three intact buildings remained. Instantly, Dai Mubai, Oscar, and Ma Hongjun all revealed awkward smiles.

"And if I heard correctly," Aoshen continued, "Boss Dai said the new students are a boy and a girl.

No matter what their relationship is, this is an academy—there's no way we can let the two of them live together in the same room from the start.

So even if it's like Boss Dai's current situation of squeezing into that temporary foam-metal house, that's still not acceptable."

"Then what should we do?" Ma Hongjun asked instinctively, realizing the urgency of the situation.

That wasn't surprising—Ma Hongjun had always been that kind of person. Fighting? Sure. Thinking? Not so much.

What gave Aoshen a headache was that after hearing Ma Hongjun's question, Dai Mubai and Oscar both turned their heads to look at him in unison.

"I mean, come on! You two are older than me—don't just look at me every time something happens! Use your brains a little!" Aoshen shouted internally.

Of course, he didn't let that frustration show on his face. After all, this situation was partially his responsibility too.

He could only hope that once Tang San arrived, he could free himself from doing all the mental labor—he didn't want to start worrying about his hairline at such a young age.

"We've only got four people, and looking at how broken down the dorm area is, it's basically impossible to restore two livable houses within just an afternoon and evening.

So my suggestion is: the four of us should work together to build another foam-metal house. It doesn't need to be big—ten square meters will do.

We've already got a working soul-guided water heater and toilet, so it'll probably only take about four hours to finish this task.

We've still got two hours until dinner, and another two hours afterward should be plenty. That way we won't delay rest or meditation."

That was Aoshen's solution—using the power of "technology." The others immediately approved and began working without hesitation.

Dai Mubai, Oscar, and Ma Hongjun went to refine the metals needed, while Aoshen used the time to draw up the structural design.

Afterward, the four of them would merge the materials into one unit and set up the framework.

Since the new house would be Tang San's personal quarters, Aoshen kept the design simple.

The foam-metal house was divided into two halves:

The front half had a bed, a table, and two chairs—a combination of bedroom and living room;the back half had drainage installed and served as the bathroom.

After finishing the blueprints, Aoshen helped refine metals too, and together they completed all the preparation work before dinner.

After eating, they only needed to engrave the simple core formation to stabilize the structure—less than two hours of work.

As expected, the four of them finished within just over an hour. Looking at the newly completed foam-metal block, now compacted to a one-cubic-meter size, they all let out long sighs of relief.

They had known the time would be enough, but during the process, tension had run high. The result was that everyone now felt clear fatigue.

Carrying the cube back to the dorm area, they no longer had any energy or mood left to plan pranks for the new students.

Finding a spacious spot, they unfolded both the old and the new foam-metal houses, fixed them into place, and returned to their own rooms to rest.

This time, though it had been a long day again, when Oscar and Aoshen opened the dorm door, they were greeted not by a face full of dust, but by Cohen's enthusiastic welcome.

Tired of cleaning after every break, Aoshen had installed a dust-removal soul device in the dorm.

So, as the saying went: laziness breeds "technology," and "technology" liberates mankind.

The next day, Dai Mubai was called by Teacher Li Yusong to help with the first trial—mainly to guide students of appropriate age to the next stage.

Ma Hongjun was sent to the third trial, assisting Teacher Lu Qibin in testing applicants' control over their martial souls.

Left idle, Oscar and Aoshen came up with the idea to build a little cart and set up a food stall at the academy gate.

When the time came, the two pushed their cart—bringing along the curious Cohen—to the entrance of the academy.

On the cart sat a soul-guided grill piled high with sausages, and foil-wrapped burgers kept warm on a heating tray. As a breeze passed, the enticing aroma spread through the air.

Don't ask why there just happened to be a breeze—let's just say it was Cohen's wind element control.

By now, many boys and girls were already lining up at the gate.

Coming so early probably meant they hadn't eaten breakfast, and as the smell wafted over, Aoshen could even hear stomachs growling.

In truth, not only the applicants' stomachs were rumbling—even Teacher Li Yusong, seated behind the desk, and Dai Mubai, standing guard behind him, were hungry too. They'd been up early as well.

Seeing Boss Dai's gaze constantly drifting toward their cart, Aoshen's eyes gleamed as a plan took shape in his mind.
