Chapter 36 - Where have I come?

The low thud of the horse's steps matched the erratic rhythm of Eleanor's heart. Her hands were clasped around her mouth as she muffled her sobs. Her knuckles tightened her hold on the handle of the enormous bag. As she then forced herself to not look back.

She then glanced at the window to her shoulder and looked out. her hands clenching the window's railing as tears rolled down her cheek and trailed over the leafy paths of the forest--Her hair futtered rapidly against the ferocious wind.

She then gritted her lips. "This was all because of him" her tear-drenched lashed fluttered up the dark sky. "It was always because of him"

Her chests rose and fell with every breath--She had just been naive, thinking that the emperor's son--The man who can get any women his eyes lay on--Would want a filthy slave like her?

He was testing her every bit.

She choked on her tears. As her fingers gripped the bag.

Flaytus had stolen her fairy tale like life--He had killed even the bits of happiness she had--Yet she had to act gracious and serve him like a slave.

--And really, she was--And that was the most sufferable of things.

Just then--The carriage abruptly came to a halt sending her jolting back into the seat. Her eyebrows furrowed as she then called out to the coachman--What happened?

The coachman's eyebrows furrowed as he saw a large plank seeming to block their route. his gaze darted in the wilderness of the now darker forest.

He then heard the voice of the women at the back--What happened? why did you stop? she asked, her voice hinted concern.

The coachman then got off and went to her door side. His gaze then darted up her. Eleanor's nimble fingers tucked at her flimsy hair as her eyes then darted to the coachman then the darkness.

Say it coachman, what happened? she asked. Her voice faltering this time.

I don't know, Domina (Mrs.) he said voice dripping with confusion, there w---His words were cut short as the sharp sound of an arrow pierced the air--Plunging into the coachman's throat.

Eleanor's eyes widened as to her horror--blood dripped from his mouth as he then wheezed for air.

The man then dropped to the ground with a heavy thud--Jolting Eleanor as she came back to her senses. Her eyes darted back and forth as panic surged through her spine.

She then quickly got up and jumped; her breath became ragged as she saw men jumping out the bushes--She then without a thought ran--Her hands clenched at the edge of her dress as she sprinted.

The men followed her--Their speed though gradually slowed. As none could see none in the wilderness of the maze-like forest.

Huff* huff* huff*

She then came to a dangerous halt as she then felt something tug at her legs, she stared down--It was a branch-Holding at the edge of her skirt.

Eleanor without a thought-tore it off, (Agh...) she winced in pain as her hands stinged--The thorns have also torn her palm.

She muffled her cries as she glanced back--No one, at least not yet*

She then continued running.

Eleanor's head soon pulsated as she then felt her vision blurring--Her legs gave up; she then tumbled on to the floor--Falling among the wet leaves.

Her breathing soon slowed down as she then gazed up at the sky--Her lips quivered, where are you...? (she sobs) where are you...?

Slav's blue gaze flashed over her mind as she then felt the night's cold air seep in through her torn clothes. Her gaze then slowly closed shut.
