Chapter 23 - First Encounter

When Qian Renyue and Ning Rongrong had just finished checking in, a young man and woman about their age entered the hotel — Tang San and Xiao Wu.

Qian Renyue, who had been about to return to her room with Ning Rongrong, suddenly felt something. She turned around and looked at Tang San. Seeing that he wasn't the blue-haired man from her dreams, she quietly let out a breath. Yet, deep in her heart, a voice whispered — It's him!

She hesitated for a moment, wondering whether she should inform the Bishop of the Spirit Hall branch in Suotuo City to investigate this boy.

Tang San walked up to the front desk. "Please give us two rooms."

The attendant behind the counter hurriedly stood up. After glancing at Tang San and then at Xiao Wu, a hint of envy flashed through his eyes. "Sir, are you sure you want two rooms?"

Tang San nodded. "Is there a problem?"

The attendant's expression turned slightly ambiguous. "I'm sorry, we only have one room left."

Tang San frowned slightly. Having lived two lifetimes, he remembered that although he and Xiao Wu had once shared a bed as children, things were different now. They were growing up — and the saying men and women should not be too intimate was something he remembered clearly.

The attendant emphasized, "Yes, only one room. But don't worry, our rooms are quite large, fully equipped, more than enough for two people." As he spoke, he threw Tang San a suggestive look — which, of course, Tang San didn't understand.

Xiao Wu said carelessly, "Then one room is fine. Didn't we always share a dorm at Nuoding? What's the big deal? We can save some money and buy pretty clothes instead."

Seeing the two act so naturally, Ning Rongrong sighed softly. "Why is everyone dating these days? I finally escaped from Yu Tianheng and Sister Yan Yan's daily dog food, and now I run into another young couple opening a room together. Amazing."

Tang San shook his head helplessly. He didn't even notice Ning Rongrong's comment. He was only thinking that, worst case, he'd sleep on the floor — he spent nights cultivating anyway, which was better than normal rest.

"Alright then, please open that room for us."

Just as the attendant was about to handle the registration, a sudden voice interrupted him.

"I'd say that room belongs to me."

Tang San and Xiao Wu turned around and saw three people approaching the counter.

It was one man and two women. The two girls, gorgeously dressed, looked about seventeen or eighteen, taller than Xiao Wu, with identical faces — a pair of twins.

But none of the eyes in the room — not Qian Renyue's, Ning Rongrong's, Xiao Wu's, or Tang San's — were on the twins. What caught everyone's attention was the man walking between them.

He was around 1.8 meters tall, half a head taller than Tang San, and looked quite young — perhaps even younger than the girls beside him. His shoulders were broad, his features strikingly handsome with a trace of unyielding strength. Long golden hair hung loose down his back, almost reaching his waist, straight and smooth rather than wavy.

What drew the most attention, however, were his eyes — a pair of double pupils in each eye. His deep blue irises held a cold, sinister gleam, a chill that seemed to pierce straight into one's soul. Each glance carried a blade's sharpness, cutting like cold steel.

Such eyes paired with such a face — no matter where he stood, he would always be the center of attention.

Ning Rongrong let out a low whistle. "Wow… things are getting exciting." She hugged Qian Renyue's arm, her big eyes blinking with mischief — the word spectacle practically written across her face.

The twin girls each held one of the golden-haired man's arms. He ignored Tang San completely. When his gaze briefly swept over Xiao Wu, a faint flicker of something strange passed through his eyes — but it vanished in an instant.

Reaching the counter, the young man said coolly to the attendant, "You must be new here. Don't you know this place always keeps one room reserved for me?"

The attendant froze. "You are…?"

The double-pupiled man's tone turned impatient. "Call your manager."

The attendant shivered under his gaze and hurried to fetch his superior.

Tang San said calmly, "This big brother, it seems we were here first."

The golden-haired youth didn't even turn his head. "So what?" he said coldly. He never had the habit of explaining himself to others.

Tang San's temper was mild, but Xiao Wu wasn't someone who tolerated arrogance. In a flash, she stepped forward beside him. "So what? Get lost."

The man finally turned, his cold, wicked eyes landing on her. He nodded slightly. "Good. It's been a long time since anyone dared talk to me like that. You have soul power — so you're soul masters. Fine then, come at me together. If you can beat me, I'll leave immediately. Otherwise… show me how you 'get lost.'"

At his words, the twin girls beside him giggled softly, showing no concern at all. They obediently released his arms and stepped aside.

At that moment, the attendant returned with a middle-aged man — the manager. Hearing the earlier exchange, the manager rushed forward in alarm. "Please, calm down! No need to fight!"

The golden-haired youth cast him a sideways glance. "Manager Wang, your business manners are improving, huh?"

Manager Wang wiped the sweat from his forehead and gave a forced smile. "Young Master Dai, please don't say that. It's our fault. This new clerk just started yesterday, he didn't know the rules. I'll arrange your room immediately."

Then he turned apologetically to Tang San and Xiao Wu. "I'm terribly sorry, dear guests. That room was reserved for Young Master Dai. Please find another inn."

Normally, Tang San wouldn't have cared — there were many inns, after all. But Xiao Wu wasn't one to back down from a challenge.

"We're not leaving. What are you going to do about it? Blind fools who only respect the rich — you think we're easy to bully just because we're young?"

The man named Dai snorted coldly. "Even if you wanted to leave now, it's too late. You've insulted me — and no one insults me and walks away."

"Y–Young Master Dai, please…" Manager Wang's face went pale, full of pleading.

Dai's eyes flashed sharply. "Enough talk. Any losses — put them on my tab."

Xiao Wu couldn't stand that arrogant look any longer and was about to lunge forward.

Tang San quickly caught her by the shoulder. "Let me handle this."

Xiao Wu frowned unhappily. "Why? I can beat him up myself. I'll make his mother not recognize him."

Tang San frowned slightly. "A girl shouldn't talk like that. Did you forget what I told you? I'll always protect you. This is between men."

He stopped her not just because he could feel the man's power — he feared she might get hurt. And even if they were to lose, he'd rather suffer humiliation himself than let Xiao Wu face it.
