Albert Slater despite being old, was still a formidable man. He had run Slater group for many years, then he had handed the company over to his son. When his son had died, the old man had taken over the reigns once more.
Keeping the company going while raising his granddaughters at the same time. That was something truly commendable. It spoke of resilience, and of somebody with a quiet strength to them.
So naturally, even though their families did not like one another, Deacon Roth had always had a great deal of respect for Albert Slater. But now that respect was quickly being replaced by a single emotion.
Unease.
Never in his life would Deacon Roth have realised that in a way, Albert Slater and his father were cut from the same cloth. But they really were similar, even if both men would not see it. They came from powerful families and were used to being obeyed, that led to them craving one thing…control.
