Chapter 33 - Chapter 033: Was Raised Very Differently

"Good evening, Sir."

I have decided to contact Sir Ethan Sinclair on that same day.

Considering taking it easy with the files since it's only the third day. I need those people to keep being on edge about what I plan for all the files.

I have called Richard regarding what I asked for the day before, and he finally gave it to me this afternoon.

Now, I clocked out on time to meet Sir Ethan at a coffee shop near the Sinclair Empire Main Building.

Their building is about fifteen minutes away from ours.

He looked up at me, and I could see how he started scrutinizing me.

"Have you ordered, Sir?" I asked him with a smile, not minding his look.

He nodded, "Please have a seat, Miss Kingsley."

I did and ordered a coffee for myself. I won't give it up even if it means making him wait a little longer.

Nevertheless, it didn't seem like he minded because he silently drank from his own cup, while also keeping an eye on me. Studying me, I presume.

Once my coffee arrived, it became his cue to start questioning me.

"Why?"

I smiled, stirring my coffee before taking a sip.

"He is bored."

Ethan raised an eyebrow, as if not expecting the answer I had just given.

I continued smiling at him, "And I am the only one who could give him the entertainment that he'd surely enjoy."

This time he frowned, "What kind of game are you playing?"

He did not rebuke my words that I am currently the only one who could entertain Kieran. Obviously, many know that Kieran is a man who is bored with everything.

"There's no game, there's just... life and death," my smile turned cold.

Ethan glanced around.

I couldn't stop myself from giggling, "Could it be that caused you discomfort, Sir?"

He looked back at me, "This is not a good joke."

"Sir, how do you think I could entertain Kieran? By dancing around?"

"Miss Kingsley, what I want to ask is why him?"

"Because he is the best choice. Out of all the bachelors around, Kieran Sinclair is the only one who could give me what I need for what I plan to do."

"Riches?" he continued asking.

This time, I laughed, "Sir, I don't need that. Have you forgotten who I am? The new Chairwoman of the Kingsley Conglomerate."

Ethan looked at me as if wondering just what it is that I am thinking. He seems not to understand my words.

"Have you ever guessed Kieran's thoughts, Sir?" I couldn't help but ask.

His face darkened.

It seems he was insulted.

"I did not mean to offend you, Sir. Just that I think you already know the answer to your question. So I wonder why you don't seem like you want to accept the answer you came up with," I said.

"Olivers," he said with restraint.

It seems that even though they have connections in the underworld, Ethan Sinclair was not as welcoming to it as Patrick and Kieran.

Olivers was the family, connected to Sinclair, that worked mostly in the underworld. The same family that connects Kieran to that place.

My smile turned sweeter, "Yes, Sir. You got it right. That is the main reason I chose Kieran Sinclair as my husband."

He looked at me, this time, gone was the scrutinizing look, but instead, it was filled with curiosity.

"Are you taking revenge for your family?" he asked.

I looked down at my coffee and sipped a mouthful.

"I am."

"You are alone," he replied.

"That doesn't mean I can't"

"Kieran will just watch you."

"Yes, that's what I need."

"If you are in danger, he'd leave you alone."

"Yes, I know that very well."

"He won't stop you with anything that you will do."

My smile widened, "And that is why I chose him even more. I don't need anyone stopping me. I don't need that morality check."

Ethan looked at me for a good few seconds.

"You have lost it already."

I continued drinking my coffee, "That deafening tone, the day Riven called me to apologize and then disappeared. That tone had completely cut off my morality as well."

This time I looked him in his eyes without a smile.

I can tell that what he sees must be nothing but a pair of eyes devoid of emotion.

He ended up sighing, "How sure are you that you can achieve what you plan to do?"

"Do you mind me ordering another coffee? I finished mine just now. I also wish to eat," I said instead of answering instantly.

He looked at my cup before nodding his head.

"How about you, Sir?" I asked.

"No need."

I shrugged before calling for the server.

Good thing this coffee shop offers a variety of dishes.

My coffee arrived first, then the dish. I guess Ethan Sinclair has a lot of patience for him to actually wait for me to answer his last question.

Picking up my spoon, I started eating, not even feeling guilty that I was making Ethan Sinclair wait for me.

Halfway done, I started pushing around the smaller vegetables.

"It is because of who I am," I finally gave him an answer.

Once again, he raised an eyebrow.

I continued playing with the remaining of my food.

"I am Lilith Kingsley," I said, looking up at him, causing him to frown.

"Have you not heard of me, Sir?" I asked.

"I have, but I can't seem to understand what you are implying," he replied.

I slowly nodded my head, drinking on my second cup of coffee.

"You have heard that I am the problem child."

He nodded as he too drank from his cup.

"I guess we can say that the problem child was raised very differently."
