Chapter 4 - New Fate

Aurora's POV

"I won't harm you." He spoke in the calmest voice I've ever heard.

"I'm... I stuttered while shivering.

He took a step closer to me and parted my hair with his fingers.

"You look hungry; I'll get you another bowl of soup. Be careful with it because it's the last portion." He smiled and walked toward the door.

"I'm the cursed Lycan king!". His voice kept singing in my head. "What do I do? Where do I run to?". My thoughts kept wandering; I couldn't imagine myself escaping death to meet another.

The news of the cursed Lycan King grew like fire at my park a few months ago. I was told he committed murder; how then is he alive? Does he know I'm a member of the rival park?.

"Here's your bowl of soup." He stretches his hands toward me.

"thank you". I accepted the soup with shaky hands.

I gulped down the soup hurriedly in desperation. I didn't notice his eyes were on me until I looked at him.

He walked towards an old, cracky cupboard and brought out some linens.

"There's a river across the building. Change into this." He placed the cloth on the bed.

I stood to my feet and obeyed as instructed. The morning breeze was fresh and welcoming. I walked towards the river bank. It looked deserted and clean.

I stared at it for a few seconds and made sure no one was watching. I unzipped my tacky dress, letting it fall to my feet, and buried myself in the water.

It was refreshing and cold. I swam and swam until I began to sneeze. I missed the feeling; I haven't swam since the incident. I took a deep breath as I walked out of the water.

"You're good?". I heard his voice.

I was startled in fear and wrapped the linen around my body, but I didn't see anyone.

"Does he travel talk?". I thought.

I had only heard about wolves that display such abilities but never seen them. I quickly dried my body with my old clothes and wore clean linen.

"How was your bath?". He asked, and immediately I stepped into the old house.

"Just like every other bath." I forced a smile.

"Be free to reach out to me if you need anything." He said this while turning to leave.

"Why did you do it? I paused. Why did you save me?".

He turned to me, wearing a smile, like he was expecting the question.

"You should rest.".

"Thanks for your concern, but I've had enough.".

"What else do you want to know? I'm the cursed Lycan King of the Moon West Pack.".

"Moon west?". I repeated it in shock.

"yes". He smiled.

"I know your parents; I mean, I heard about your story but never knew it was related to the Moon West Pack.".

"Well, now you do.".

"what happened?". I blurted out. "What did you do that warrants a curse?". I was concerned.

"Let's say I made a wrong deal." He shrugged.

"Wrong deal? How and why?".

"That's a question for another day! Now tell me why you were half dead in the middle of the forest.".

My mood swings immediately. I had him ask. I stared at my fingers, trying to find words.

"If you aren't comfortable talking to me about it yet, it's fine, okay! I'll always be here." He smiled and walked away.

A mild smile occupied my face immediately after he left. "He's the son of my parents best friends." I couldn't tell why I wasn't scared of being in the same house with a cursed king, but instead I felt comfortable.

"Why would you be? At least we are out of that dungeon.". Camel groaned.

The rest of the day was going well. I had never stepped my feet out of the park, and the feeling of freedom was overwhelming.

I stood beside the river bank, staring at the water and enjoying the fresh air that played with my hair and the linen cloth I was putting on.

His scent filled my nose as it lingered in the air. I felt my heart race as I heard footsteps approaching.

He didn't utter a word to me as he passed me; he walked towards the water and threw himself in.

I watched him drown himself out of the water. Oh, I think I like the wet version of him. His curly hair was glued to his face and neck as he swiped off his face with his hands.

Our eyes were glued to each other.

"Do you want to join me?". He requested.

"No! I'm fine". I opposed it.

"No, you're not!". He grabbed me and pulled me into the water.

"No!". I yelled, trying to fight him, but I couldn't as his strength weighed me down.

He pulled me close to himself to the extent that I heard his breath. I darted my eyes from his chest to his eyes; they were burning like fire, and I felt comfort with him.

***Two days later***

It was dark; the sun had gone to rest, and the moon took over. I laid in my assigned room. The past three days have been dreams come true for me.

He interrupted my thoughts as he stood at the door. The building was so old that the extras were left with no doors.

"Can I come in?". He asked in a soft tone.

"Sure".

"Thank you. He walked further to where I sat. I think it's important you tell me why you were half dead when I saw you.".

I stared at him with my emotions swinging."I don't want to talk about it." I sobbed.

He hugged me and parted his hands on my back. "I apologize, but it's necessary you tell me; it isn't safe here.".

"He rejected me! He chose my cousin over me! He took the alpha title and denied me the Luna's! He made a mess of me.

"Shhhh". He placed his index finger on the tips of my lips.
