Aurora's POV
"Speak more; you have me now."
He told me as I slowly moved my gaze to him, darting my eyes from his lips and eyes. I've not felt the comfort I just felt in a long time.
"Thank you". I forced a smile.
"So, what do you want?". He asked in a demanding tone.
"A revenge! A revenge for my parents deaths, a revenge for stealing my life away from me." My voice bore anger.
"So be it, princess." He pulled my cheeks.
"You never asked about my name." I blurted out.
"My bad! Please do me the honor.".
"Aurora!" I smiled.
"That's a beautiful name! Aurora. He called. Well, you can call me Azreal.".
"You bear a beautiful name too." I was complimented.
Our conversation got interrupted when we began to hear the hooves of wolves echoing from a distance.
"They are here." I began to pant as I turned off the candlelight with my finger tips.
"Be calm; just fit yourself somewhere hidden." He instructed as he was about to make his way out.
"Hold on. I stopped him, ran towards him, and hugged him. Please be safe."
I silently prayed to the goddess to protect him as I began to hear them growling. I was too scared to peep through the windows.
Heavy winds began to blow, followed by the rain. The sound of the wolves growling and snarling began to attenuate. I felt my heart beat as I became worried.
I saw a figure walking into the entrance. After observing for a while, I ran to him and hugged him while I sobbed.
"I'm alright". He pushed me aside. "You didn't tell me you're pregnant." His voice was filled with disappointment.
"I… I… ". I stuttered.
"You what?. He almost yelled. Hold on! Who's baby is that? You're so called Alpha? Or perhaps a guard?"
"Don't you dare! My voice oozed anger. You're in no place to speak to me in such a manner.".
"Oh really? He laughed heatedly. Or perhaps having sex with the same man you claim to hate on the same day he gave you an order to kill you?".
"It's….. " I stuttered as the ache in my heart unleashed a torrent of tears, streaming from my eyes.
"Suit yourself". He scoffed as he walked past me.
I stood motionless, and a veil of sadness hung over me as it seemed difficult to get my mind off it despite knowing it was false. "But did he react the way he did?" I thought.
"I think he likes you!". Camel interrupted.
"Likes me? That's impossible; Lycan kings like him find it difficult to fall in love, excluding their mates".
"But what if he does?. I rethought. Well, I'm not ready to re-experience what Alfred did to me.".
I took a deep breath as I decided to tell him everything that happened. I was never pregnant; Annie did what she did to save me. Perhaps I would have been dead without his help, or rather, without his help.
I took a noiseless step to the room he has been in since my arrival. From where I stood, I could see the discomfort he felt. I could hear distant self-talk.
I was about to knock on the door when he said. "How do I tell her my feelings? How do I tell her I was on the edge of taking my own life? How do I tell her I have just six months to live?".
I felt cold blood run through my veins. I stood in shock as I failed to lift up my legs.
"Let's get out of here. Camel said. "Let's get out of here!". She repeated it and shook me off.
I lifted my legs and walked back to my room. My head was assimilating what I just heard: "How do I tell her I have just six months to live?".
Oh no! I cried. What will happen to me then?? How do I cope without him? What if Alfred finds me?
I found it hard to believe he just had a few months to live, and why was he on the edge of taking his own life?
I didn't care if he liked me because I wasn't ready to accept any feelings, not after the betrayal and humiliation I received from my first love.
"Get yourself prepared; we leave tonight!". He interrupted my thoughts.
"To where?". I blurted it out while he walked away.
I didn't get a response from him, but he was correct. The old house wasn't safe anymore, and for our safety, it was a good idea to move out.
I quickly picked up the keg filled with water that I had fetched earlier from the river, my old clothes, and some candles.
I saw a reflection of a fire torch from the outside. I ran immediately and saw him paving his way through the bush.
We kept walking further into the forest with no destination. The forest was cold and wet. The sounds of crickets and frogs were heard.
He said no word to me and made me feel alone. My legs began to weaken. I could feel the weight on every step I took, and I began to pace down slowly.
He paused for a second when he noticed I was far behind him. He transformed into a dire wolf, which is known to be the strongest of all kinds. His fur was thick and gray, and his eyes were burning.
He let out a wide roar and lifted me to his back, as I was still in shock. He ran into the depths of the forest, where it seemed like we'd lost track of the land.
We began to distance ourselves from the small lake in front of us. He transformed into his human form and walked silently towards the scene.
"Alfred!". I gasped, recognizing the voice, while Azreal left a stare at me.
"You know him?". He blurted them out, unbothered, at the same time, paving the way to get a glance at them.
He suddenly fell to his back, his eyes screaming fear and tensing. I fell to my knees, holding him in shock.
"What's wrong? What did you see? I asked in fear.
"The witch... witch goddess." He stuttered. "She cursed me.".
