Chapter 1 - Scam Artist playing God in front of another Scam Artist playing God

Casper looked at the maroonish potion in front of him, rubbing his hands in excitement, he muttered slowly, "Here it goes," saying that, he cupper the potion.

With a tilt, Casper gulped the potion whole.

Instantly, he felt the potion's effects throughout his body.

A hot sensation filled his body, his cells seemed to be pierced by small paper thin needles causing him to shiver.

Casper convulsed abruptly, falling down from his chair. His vision rapidly blurred as a myriad of colours came into sight.

The colors seemed to saturate. The reds were redder, the blues were bluer, and the blacks were blacker.

At that moment, his vision cleared and his mind felt light.

Suddenly, Casper felt a series of murmurs echoing in his mind.

"Chaos… Fog Sea… Chaos… Fog Sea… Chaos… Fog Sea."

Casper felt a stabbing pain at his forehead as he quickly had thoughts of causing destruction to vent the discomfort in him.

He frowned and hurriedly shook his head. This isn't me, he thought grimly.

He quickly entered the state of Cogitation to calm his mind.

He focused on the fedora he wore everyday, its shape, its colour, its size.

Casper felt the murmurs subside into a whisper before they vanished.

Soon, he heaved a sigh of relief.

He quickly imagined a figure made of stars layered upon each other, each layer caused the figure to strengthen and tighten. In the end becoming a huge clock tower.

After testing out his Spirit Vision and seeing that everything was normal, he quickly set up an entry and exit — tapping his incisor twice.

Casper sighed deeply, running his hand through his hair.

"Finally! I'm a Beyonder! God, this gave me the biggest heart attack of all time. Fuck this world! Fuck the novel! And fuck Beyonders!"

Saying that, he scratched the back of his neck with annoyance.

He was finally a Sequence 9 Lawyer!

It had been a complete and utter surprise when he found himself in Lord of The Mysteries, even more so when he didn't find himself becoming a reproductive flesh blob.

After a painful two months, he had finally succeeded in becoming a Beyonder.

And if you're asking why it took two months. Pah! You don't know how hard it is to gather 300 pounds.

200 for the formula, and a 100 for the ingredients. He literally and figuratively had to sell his soul for that much.

Just as Casper started to relax. A prickling sensation invaded his body. A strange symbol appeared on his hand, it pulsed in red in brief intervals as the light spread throughout his body.

Not good! Am I losing control?! Casper screamed in his mind, his vision doubling.

Suddenly, his entire body was wrapped in red, his spirit disappearing from his apartment.

Above the gray fog, inside a palace that looked like the residence of the giants of old. Klein sat at the seat of honour.

He sent a message to the Sun, telling him to prepare for the gathering. However after doing that, he felt a cold sensation just as he was about to touch the red stars representing the Hanged Man and Justice.

The gray fog churned like a hurricane before settling down. The gray fog around him soon condensed before flying to the seat of honour directly opposite to him.

There, within the sense fog rested a person!

Klein's eyes widened, the hair on his body stood up as he felt his heart turn faint. He shivered, panicking under the fog covering him.

He instinctively reached for his revolver but found nothing. Who is that?! How did he come here?! Is he the master of the gray fog?

Thoughts like those rushed in Klein Moretti's mind.

Meanwhile, the figure at the foot of the table — Casper seemed equally puzzled. Isn't this Sefirah Castle? What am I doing here?

Almost immediately, a deep, earth shaking voice rang out from the head of the table.

"Identify yourself!" The voice said loudly, it wasn't a question, but a command — a command drawn out of panic.

Casper met Klein's gaze, a low grin on his face. I actually invaded Sefirah Castle! He thought excitedly, And judging by Klein's expression, he can't kick me out lol!

Learning of the situation, Casper laughed. For weeks he had been pondering on how to join the Tarot Club and it seemed Fate bestowed him a favour, penance for bringing him into this horrifying world.

Klein's expression darkened upon the man's laugh.

Tch!

The sound escaped his lips upon seeing that his Spirit Vision failed — the gray fog protecting Casper.

"I did not summon you, unknown intruder. Do you know the ramifications of your actions?" Klein's voice echoed throughout the fog, but inwardly his heart raced.

To invade the gray fog which could withstand a God's attack. This mysterious man must be truly powerful. Klein thought, biting his lips.

Casper on the other hand, guessed Klein's thoughts, This scammer must be thinking that I am an actual God since I'm able to invade this place. Two frauds playing Gods, won't that make a good story.

"Hmm, sorry for my intrusion, Mr. Fool." He said with a grin, deciding to scare Klein, "I must say, I was quite hurt realising that I was left out of your gathering."

Klein grit his teeth, 'Mr. Fool? Is this bastard omniscient? And what does he mean by saying he was quite hurt?! He's a God!

Since he knows that I'm The Fool, he should also know that I'm just a mere Seer. So why does he care about a low level gathering? Does it have to do with this gray fog? Or maybe the gray fog allowed me to retain some semblance of dignity and concealed the fact that I'm a Sequence 9?'

Klein thought before deciding to test out his theory, "I see, well since you want to join the gathering, Mr.?" He asked.

Casper raised an eyebrow, Is bro trying to act nonchalant here? Whatever, I'll play along with it.

"I prefer not to say. On the other hand Mr. Fool, I'll take one of your codenames."

Klein listened to his words before nodding, Seems like this guy doesn't know that I'm a Sequence 9.

Thinking of that, he felt more confident.

Waving his arms, Klein conjured up 18 Tarot Cards save for the Justice, Hanged Man, Sun and The Fool cards.

Without glancing at them, Casper said in a deep and thundering voice, "I choose The Emperor."
