Chapter 17 - Grind Begins

As soon as they landed, Kaan started vomiting. "Blegh!" His Master and Mei remained composed because they had traveled everywhere by flying, but Kaan, who had never flown even in an airplane, wasn't used to it. "I've never flown even in an airplane," he confessed, wiping his mouth.

Kaan finally lifted his head and looked around, astonished by the sight. A vibrant, living city, entirely non-technological, lay before him. Everywhere he looked, he sensed an amazingly powerful concentration of Qi.

"This is the city of Guolu," Master Chu explained. "It literally means 'Cauldron.' The entire city belongs to the Obsidian Cauldron Pavilion, and our main branch is set here. Now, kid, I have some free time. We will begin training right after I show you your room. Word got here quicker than us, so you will be with me until you can defend yourself. Be ready to train like a helldog!" Master Chu said, laughing sadistically.

"I can't believe I really have a cliché monstrous master in another realm," Kaan thought, "First, I have to check the Ring to see if there's a new feature, and secondly, I have to overwrite the Spatial Ring I got from the assassin."

They walked alongside Master Chu, directly into the inner-city, where the Qi concentration was overwhelming. They arrived at a building that resembled the Senso-ji Temple. "This is your room from now on. After you settle in, meet me in front of this building. You have one hour to do so," said Master Chu.

"Yes, Master," Kaan said, joining his hands and greeting both Mei and his Master.

Immediately, Kaan settled down and opened the Ring's interface.

DING!

Levelled Up!New function unlocked: Photograph

You can now take photos and store them inside the Ring and review them.

"I couldn't ask for a better thing! Now I can take pictures of every technique and blueprint in this dimension and use them. Nice," Kaan thought with excitement, a sadistic smile appearing across his face.

Afterwards, he pulled out the Spatial Ring he had taken from the assassin and tried to feel out the security protocol with his newly circulated Qi.

"?" Kaan was surprised. "Wow, really? Is this the security protocol? It's like an old Android phone's pattern-based password." He thought about it more internally. "I am not a programmer, but I know a little bit about how it works. Actually, this looks like a lot of programming, but in Qi-driven circuits. I think it has a Qi-conductive component that opens a logic-gate."

He carefully tried to infuse the kernel of the spatial lock with his own Qi, following the rudimentary pattern he'd sensed. It worked instantly. "Nice! I can access it now. Let's see what's inside."

He opened up the ring, and it looked like space split open. Inside, there were seven Qi stones. "That's it? No wonder this guy tried to kidnap precious people. He's really poor," Kaan muttered. He took the Qi Stones and examined them carefully.

"I can feel there is Qi inside these stones. Can I absorb them?" He muttered. His urge to absorb the Qi from the stone grew, but he composed himself. "What if this is not a clean Qi? I have to ask my master that." His engineer-mind immediately took over: he wouldn't risk his Perfect Yang Body with untested energy.

"Ah, crap! I'm going to be late," he thought, looking to the clock that looked like it was from the Neolithic Age. He wondered how they did the clock and decided to analyze it. "Analyze!"

Analyzing...

Item: Qi Driven Clock

Components:Jade Stone 70%, Wood 20%, Qi 10%

Description: A Qi-driven clock that shows time. Nearly out of Qi.

"Hmm, I've seen a lot of jade stone. Could this material be a battery for Qi? I have to observe and experiment about it," Kaan thought, walking toward the building entrance to meet his Master.

When he arrived, his master was already here, waiting for him. "Let's go to the backyard, it's more secluded and silence, we can focus more there." Master Chu grabbed Kaan like a little puppy and flew straight to the backyard.

"Now, you opened up your first meridian, the Mind Meridian. There are eight more meridians to open, but it won't be easy to open them. Sit down and I will show you the correct road for your Qi."

Kaan immediately sat down, excitement in his eyes. "I'm ready."

Master Chu, radiating a wise aura, started to explain. "The next two meridians we are going to open are the Heart Meridian and the Liver Meridian. When we open up those two, you will feel your stamina shoot up, because Qi will start to infuse your heart and liver. Now I will start to show the path, so be careful and feel the way. Now that you have Qi, your Qi will try to resist mine, so it may become painful," said Master Chu, his hands resting on his disciple's back.

Kaan, having readied himself, felt the familiar warmth but instantly met resistance. He focused on the feeling of his Master's Qi, observing the path leading toward his heart. After his Master showed him the route, he tried immediately but ultimately failed.

"That's normal, kid. Everybody fails the first time. You may not recognize it, but it is a long way for your Qi to travel from your Mind to your Heart. You will experience Qi dissipation along the way." Master Chu explained.

"But don't worry, dissipated qi returns to your dantian so you won't lose that qi." said Master Chu.

Kaan, felt motivated, started thinking like an engineer, "I can think the body as a battery, and the ways that lead qi to the meridians as cables, Meridians can be amplifiers so they amplify qi to the next meridian, so i need to increase the input voltage, the qi."Having thought of that , Kaan was ready to try again.

"Master, please take a look again, I am going to try it again." Kaan said, as soon as he said it, he gathered as much qi as he can in his mind meridian, thought the way of qi as cables, focused immidiately and shoot the qi right to his heart. Qi that Kaan shot slowly began to dissipate but Kaan shoot another beam of qi, strenghtening the signal.

As soon as Qi hit the Heart meridian, his heart, which was never encountered qi, started to accumulate qi, and slowly, the qi currents that Kaan shot, became stabilized and pop! that familiar sound came across his mind.

"Master! I did it!" Kaan shouted. Master Chu was speechless. "It took me 1 month to open hearth meridian, i really found a gem."

"Don't be so happy. You need to work harder now, because now i will teach you some fighting techniques." Master Chu said, while hiding his suprised face.

A book appeared in Master Chu's hand, it said on the cover, Jade Palm Technique.
