'Beginners guide for leveling up' was written on the cover of the book, it was displayed in a bold black font. The book itself was elusive, it was hidden by other books on its shelf.
Leo used the amulet to levitate the book behind him while he walked towards a rock to sit down. He sat on the rock and levitated it infront of him and he turned to the next page and started reading.
"This is a beginners guide to leveling up and how to obtain skills and other related stuff.
Leveling up
You need XP (Experience points) to level up, you can check how much XP you have out of the ammount required in your Stats page.
How to get XP? It's easy, there are many ways to gain XP;
1. Hunting is a great source of Experience points, killing weaker animals like rabbits, rodents or fish give from 1 to 10 XP depending on how strong they are. Fishing is considered a type of hunting.
Stronger animals like deer give from 10 to 50 XP, If the deer has skills and can run faster or any type of skill they normally give 50 to 100 XP.
If you manage to hunt another predator that is not from your pride or species they give 100+ XP, if they are from your pride or species they don't give XP unless they are considered evil by the system.
Demonic beasts give 500+ XP. (Very dangerous, keep caution)
A general rule for hunting is that the stronger animals give more XP.
2. Completing quests, sometimes the system grants hosts quests which give hosts XP.
3. XP potions, some individuals gain a skill which allows them to produce potions if they have ingredients for them. The ingredients for XP potions are elusive so they are expensive. (Not optimal)
4. Farming, for each crop you grow you gain 1-10 XP, The longer the crops take to grow thee more they give. Crops take long to time to grow so slow XP gain. (Not optimal)
Stats
You need Skill points to add to your stats, a random number of skill points is gained from leveling up, it is normally between 1 to 10.
Recommended: Keep your stats balanced unless you have something that can raise something for example if you have an armor that was enchanted to be stronger you should add more Skill points into strength than defense.
Mana strength is how potent your mana is in doing its intended job.
Skills
Most skills use mana to operate, you regenerate maa all the time without doing anything. You can also drink mana potions to fully regenerate your mana, mana can also be used in other ways.
You can gain skills from hunting, quests and learning new stuff. To further explain the last one, if you learn how to be stealthy there is a chance for you to gain a skill to further enhance your stealth.
A Skill's purpose can vary greatly, some skills are used to increase strength or deliver damage some increase your defense some might have a completely different purpose that's for utility purposes.
You can check a Skill's description by thinking of it while looking at it on the stats page. Using then is also similar just think of using it and it will be activated.
Balance
You can gain coins from either selling stuff to people or hunting or quests. If someone dies all of their coins disappear permanently.
Inventory
You can place anything in your inventory, food will not spoil in your inventory and will be exactly the same as when you stored them,they can be taken out at any time."
'I should test it out to see if the steak is still warm' Leo thought of taking the steak out and it appeared in paw.
It was exactly the same as before, nothing about it changed not even its scent. Leo started munching on it then continued reading.
"Gaining a human body
After a certain level which is different for each lion, you gain a human body, you can change between your human body and Lion body at any time.
Lions who gain a human body are immediately considered as a high ranking lion. Changing from one form to another can make you vulnerable so it is greatly recommended to do it only in a safe place"
Leo's lit up when he read that he could get human body, he felt very uncomfortable while being in this form so the possibility of getting a human body again made him extremely exhilarated.
Leo closed the book and levitated it back to it's shelf, he then walked over to the receptionist and gave her the amulet back.
Leo made up his mind on what he was going to do, he was going to hunt. Although he was weak, hunting a rabbit shouldn't be too hard.
He walked outside and went towards the middle ranked section. He remembered Victor saying they didn't allow low ranks to go far from the pride, he was going to ask if there was a hunting group he could join.
He saw the den with Victor written on it's rock. Leo knocked on the entrance and then Victor emerged from the den.
"Oh hey Leo, what do you need" Victor asked.
"So uhm I'm pretty weak and I need to hunt to level up, are there hunting groups or something I can join?" Leo replied.
"You are in luck, I am a leader of one of the hunting groups, you can join us tomorrow, we are going to hunt for most of the day so stock up on food as we sometimes don't find any prey, meet us at the lake at 11 am, if you want to know the time there is a giant clock tower near the lake if you didn't see it" Victor explained.
"You have been such a big help, I don't know how to repay you" Leo thanked Victor multiple times.
After talking with Victor for a while he went to the lake. He lowered his head until it was near the water and started quenching his thirst.
After that he made way back to the commercial area, he was going to need to stock up on food before tommorow.
The next day, He went to the lake 15 minutes earlier than the time he and Victor agreed on so he wouldn't accidentally be late and miss them.
Out in the distance he saw Victor and his hunting group moving towards him and he made his way towards them, He was finally going to go hunting.
